Well folks, I confirmed it with a Walmart Toy Department Manager that the wave should hit the first two weeks of May, as said on other sites. So, who's doin what? And do we want to set up a help the candadians network? And do we want to set up a "Hook Eachother Up" network where we help eachother finish off our sets?

Roughneck
04-18-2006, 12:36 AM
Canadians are covered. I don't think they'll be hitting WMs here but Specialty stores in Canada are allowed to order. I've pre ordered a case, but my shop should get some too.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 12:37 AM
Yay for Canadians!

So does this kill our deal then, Rough?

Roughneck
04-18-2006, 12:55 AM
sadly.....sort of. It will kill the deal for WM wave figs...but I will still hold them for ya.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 01:01 AM
Sweet, I'm kinda without money at the moment.

But anyways, who's preordering and who's scavenging walmart for these figures?

FEAR THE BAT

Atleast you won't have to wait on those Rough. Good thing the specialty shops are getting them.

FEAR THE BAT

I'll be at Wal-Mart. I have yet to pre-order anything so I'm not about to start.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 01:03 AM
I'm debating more and more to just go and buy a case. Just can't find a reliable enough shop. FTB, we're going to partner up big time on this one, right?

Roughneck
04-18-2006, 01:03 AM
You guys can beat the rush too by ordering from a Canadian retailer.

www.cmdstore.com
www.legendsaf.com
www.silversnail.com

damn there are two other prominent ones that I can't seem to think of.

Technically when you get your store to put a fig asside for you whe it comes in (Which I know you've done) that is basically preordering.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 01:08 AM
Oh, speaking of Walmart, FTB, I saw Godfather and Bam Bam. Lemme know.

I just don't want to order a case and have it be something I can either find easily enough or not have EVERY figure in the series as I've been hearing.

I ordered two of each 2 pack. I just don't want to worry about hunting them down. usually i find them in the store and cancel my order if i can. As far as the WM wave, i have $200 in gift cards and i'm buying as many WM figs as I can with that. I'll gladly help anyone out who needs it.

SHT, be on the lookout for us bro.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 01:19 AM
Ok, so there's 3 of us. Don't be afraid to use layaway! Alert fellow fwooshers to what you stick on layaway. My strategy? I'll be selfish and get what I want for myself and anything else I see I'll put on layaway. That way I know exactly what I have and I can tell people what I have.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 01:19 AM
Well, not entirely selfish, I will get 1 or 2 figures immediately for FTB, I can't afford two sets at once.

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 01:28 AM
i'm buying 2 sets of the WM wave, one to open, and one for MOC, then what ever I buy is fair game for the rest of you guys. FTB and ez-8 will have first dibs on my WM wave since I owe them for helpin me. But i got your back to saint. I can't wait to have me a proper giant man. But i think i'm actually looking foward to the faceoff figs more. I'll take anything at this point. the WM's around here ordered so dang many of the ML 12 and 11 and SMC figs that they are taking up all the space. At least these will have a display for themselves.

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 01:28 AM
Thank you Santo. Thank you.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 01:31 AM
So should we post everyone's priority wants out of the WML? Here's mine...
Sentry (Top!)
Thor
Warbird
Kitty
Captain Britain

Roughneck
04-18-2006, 01:33 AM
Keep in mind I am gettign a Case.

9 figs in the wave.
2 varients
12 in a case.

9-10 pieces for Giant Man.

So I will have 2 or 3 figs to toss into the mix.

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 01:39 AM
i guess my most wanted are:
ant-man
havok
thor
sentry
captain britain
warbird

Saint553
04-18-2006, 01:44 AM
I think it's like 1x everything, including variants, and 2x sabertooth...you'll have 1

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 01:45 AM
Here's my list:

Thor
Sentry
Ant-Man
Kitty
Warbird
Cap Britain

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 01:52 AM
I dont really even care about the AOA figs. I'm glad other people are happy about them though. i'll still get them, but i might just get them and take the giant man pieces and sell/trade them instead of keeping each of them MOC.

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 02:00 AM
I'm always up for reasonably priced fodder. :D

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 02:04 AM
i'll keep you in mind. i might like the figs better in person. but i'm not sure. i'm looking forward to the 1st App wolverine and sabertooth face off packs a lot more than the AOA ones.

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 02:12 AM
Me too. I like the FA Wolvie mask.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 02:16 AM
Oh, I don't know about anyone else, but if I do get anything for anyone else it's going to have to be at cost.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 02:16 AM
Unless we both have something in the WML that we both want.

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 02:26 AM
Totally understandable.

BTW Santo, I'm moving back to my spot so I'll be on IM.

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 02:27 AM
just go ahead and ask for their testicles saint. jk. i dont blame ya. but for now i'd be happy with fair trades. i'd only charge extra for maybe a small finders fee or something or if these are gonna be a b**** to find.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 02:30 AM
Nah, even a finders fee isn't all that fair. Just so happens it was luck because we all are searching for eachother. It's all karma, so if you were to charge me a finders fee I'd probably charge you something similar. FTB and I have a bit of an unspoken karma where if he hooks me up with something good, I'll hook him back up first chance I get with something good. We never do a finders fee, just a karma thing.

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 02:36 AM
oh, i thought you were saying you would charge them a buttload or something, like it will come at a cost, i guess you meant fair trade? i dont know, it's late and i'm not in the best mind frame.

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 02:47 AM
He meant they be at cost. Basically what he paid for them.

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 02:50 AM

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 02:54 AM
It damn well does beat ebay. Thats the thing about us SHT. We take care of each other. Then we get low life f***s like The Lumberjack that come in and wanna rip people off.

Don't worry bro, you're on the right track here. Even though we aren't many our loyalty makes up for it.

http://www.action-figure.com/~nomad/images/06/02/mlmarttn.jpgFollowing on from comments on ToyBiz's (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&catid=&topic=74)press release on the Walmart Wave (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=19343) that we ran, last week, ToyBiz has come back to us with some additional comments...

ToyBiz tells us
I wanted to clarify an oversight on the press release that was sent last week. Please note that you must collect 10 figures to build Giant Man (one of these figures is a variant). The variants in this assortment will not be as hard to come by as other Marvel Legends assortments.

As we told you last week
The Marvel Legends assortment will feature never-before-seen characters and new versions of all-time fan favorites like Warbird, Captain Britain, Havoc, Thor, Ant-Man, Sentry, Wolverine, Kitty Pride and Sabretooth. Fans can collect all 9 figures to build their very own 14” Giant Man! The line (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&catid=&topic=74)

IN case this wasn't here.

I don't care about the AOA Wolverine. But I love the AOA Sabertooth. He's going right in with the Exiles.

The only thing I would like an AOA Wolverine for is if they make a lot more ML style AOA figures. but they aint gonna. So I have to stick with my AOA Wolverine. My AOA Wolverine Custom, My AOA Colossus Custom and that damn Blink Custom I sis but seem to have lost.

Bless you.

I was using FTB as an example, Rough. You're my karma brother too. Let's all hug!

In other news...
"What you don't see here are the variants...they're not chase figures, because one of every figure-including the variants-ships in every case" (Toyfare, #105, pg.24)

Meaning, no chase figures!!! Technically. So rough probably is cool to order a case.

Roughneck
04-18-2006, 01:36 PM
Yep. The case of 12 will include:

Captain Brittain
Warbird
Kitty
AOA Sabertooth
AOA Wolverine
Sentry
Havok
Thor
Ant Man
Bald AOA WOlverin
Bearded Sentry

And I dunno who the xtra will be. Prolly Wolverine,

FEAR THE BAT

I think I've heard of 2 AOA Sabes. But I'd think they rather use AOA Wolvie as the extra because of Wolvie's heavy hitter status.

I still don't see how Te BAF Can be 10 pieces. Or why they'd make us buy a varient to get it.

Lower Leg 1
lower Leg 2
Upper Leg 1
Upper Leg 2
Crotch
lower Torso
Upper Torso
Head
Arm 1
Arm 2

Is that how it would be?

04-18-2006, 09:02 PM
I think its the arms that are separate. Its like a upper forearm/elbow/upper arm combo for one piece and the a lower forearm/wrist/hand/finger combo for the other piece. So:

L Upper arm
R Upper arm
L Lower arm/hand
R Lower arm/hand
L Leg
R Leg
Head
Crotch/hips
Upper torso/shoulders
Lower torso/waist

Roughneck
04-18-2006, 09:05 PM
Wha? Legs are bigger than arms. It would be easier to sperate them above the knee.

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 09:20 PM
I know that but I remember when the Kansas incident happened I saw pics of the figs in their blisters and the sticker on the front with the pic of AOA Wolvie had him coming with the hand of Giant-Man. And i remember on Fwoosh guys were saying how it sucked that everybody might have a Giant-Man missing a hand because thats the piece the AOA Wolvie variant comes with.

Roughneck
04-18-2006, 09:22 PM

Saint553

I keep hearing that the WML won't be replenished after the initial display comes out...

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 09:55 PM
that would be the dumbest marketing scheme ever then. they'd loose money making the molds and not pushing them to their limits.

Saint553
04-18-2006, 10:01 PM
it's like a space thing I guess. Who knows, it's screwed up big time

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 10:09 PM
you'd think that if they're going to have a display thing on the floor for ML all by themselves that they'd want to keep it refilled while the display is up. think of the displays that you've seen at WM, star wars, dora the explorer and crap like that. they usually stay around for at least a month.

FEAR THE BAT
04-18-2006, 10:10 PM
Mainly because they have to get WM to commit to certain amounts of cases too right??? WM probably doesn'twanna get stuck with stuff that won't move

Saint553
04-18-2006, 10:14 PM
Yet they're heavily backstocked with SMC figures. That's why I won't be seeing a spiderhulk or hobby any time soon, they're so backstocked on SMC that nothing will happen.

There's something about rate of sale also, there's no rate of sale on new stuff, so they don't know how fast new stuff will sell. Older stuff has it but...I dunno, there's no sense of this stuff.

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 10:17 PM
i got spiderhulk and hobby from ez just cause i didnt think i'd see them anytime soon b/c my WM has the same backed up figs crap thing as well. With SMC, and of course ML 12. But I think that they will know the WM wave will sell and the 2 packs.

SpiderHulkThing
04-18-2006, 10:18 PM
good thing is that no matter what, you got fellow hysters to get your back. you'll end up with your WM wave either way.

Couple of Maestors, a purple X23 and a Sassy. SMC was only the most recent Spideys, no more Hobgoblins or Spider-Hulks.

Still no damn WM wave or 2packs.

hmm.. If I'm not able to find the Walmart line at my walmarts.. WIll one of you guys be able to get me a set to make Giant man if i send them the money. If not I will just buy them online... for an outrageous price might i add...

I'll keep a look out for ya like i said i would. I've got lots of giftcard money, so i should be straight about picking up a large amount of figs. I'm planning on buying every freakin one i can find. I'm sure people won't have a problem taking them off my hands if i get extras of ones i dont need.

And you can trust me SsM. You're figs are already packaged up and ready to go. Soon as Monday comes along, they'll be on their way.

SpiderHulkThing

I don't really care about the AoA wolverine and sabertooth. So what i might do is either let someone take those figs off my hands for a trade, or let someone buy them and let me buy their respective peices. Let me know if this sounds good to anyone.

i could always buy the pieces from ya if i need them. like i said, i'll probably sell/trade my AoA wolverine, and sabertooth and keep the pieces. And i wouldn't mind having an extra havok and britain. So if you don't need them, let me know. don't feel obligated to sell them to me or anybody for that matter though if you like and want giant-man b/c if you want him you should be able to have him.

i don't know much about sentry myself. i can't really keep up with buying the comics and figures so i'll stick with the figures for now and start getting comics again once i get a steady paying job and get out of school. He looks decent enough as a fig, and i definitly want all of giant man. I wish bearded sentry and the reg. one didn't come with the same piece. Both variants should come with the same peice instead.

MangleBoP
04-24-2006, 02:53 PM

Yes and no. The Void is a manifestation of the post-hypnotic sugestion planted in Sentry's subconscious by MasterMind, that tells Rob Renolds that if he uses his powers, bad things will happen.

you have to get AoA variant wolverine, the burnt up looking one to get one of the hands i think. I can't remember which part for sure, but you have to have that fig to complete giant-man.

Roughneck
04-24-2006, 03:22 PM
Ten Pieces to complete him. 9 figs 2 varients. Therefore 1 Varient needs to be bought.

And of course giant-man. http://www.action-figure.com/~nomad/images/06/04/waltn.jpg Are you consumed by the frenzy yet? The Wal-Mart wave is raining down on America and the forums are exploding with reports. Check out the official pics and updated info now...

Reports are coming in from across the US with the first sighting in Kentucky and the latest in Virginia. Seems it's spreading across the US like a virus!! Online store Big Bad Toystore (http://www.action-figure.com/www.bigbadtoystore.com) report that Series 13 is on the water from Hong Kong as well, so look for them to hit in the next 3 weeks or so. Yea..does your wallet hurt yet? For those keeping score at home, that's 10 figures in the Wal-Mart wave to complete Giant Man (which includes one variant) plus the other variants in the line, Face Off 2 packs plus 3 variants, Young Avengers and Monsters Boxed Sets AND Series 13 and variants...not to mention X-Men series 2 and Amazing Spider-Man series 17.

Adrian reports:: Fans in the UK, wondering how to get these figures, should note that back in February (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=18979) we reported that these will be carried by Asda in Autumn / Winter 2006. I've not had an update since then but have no reason to believe anything has changed.

Toy Biz announced today the launch of an all new Marvel Legends line available only at Wal-Mart’s 3200+ locations nationwide.

“Toy Biz continues to showcase the greatest legends of the Marvel Universe by providing the expert sculpting and articulation that fans have come to expect,” said Patricia Rinaldi, Director of Marketing. “We are pleased to partner with Wal-Mart to make this exclusive assortment available to our fans this May.”

The Marvel Legends assortment will feature never-before-seen characters and new versions of all-time fan favorites like Warbird, Captain Britain, Havoc, Thor, Ant-Man, Sentry, Wolverine, Kitty Pride and Sabretooth. Fans can collect all 10 figures to build their very own 14” Giant Man! The line continues to push the envelope on poseability, boasting over 30 points of articulation in each 6” figure!

For pictures of the figures that accidently turned up early in Kansas back in February, check out the articles HERE (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=19048), HERE (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=19047) and HERE (http://www.action-figure.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=19044). I wonder how long they will continue to restock the WM wave. I imagine that this wave will do pretty well considering all the scalpers trying to get it plus the fans. And anyone who has a BAF villain is likely to want a BAF hero. I just hope they keep restocking them until everyone has a chance at getting them.

I heard Walmart ordered a pretty large amount, so you should be able to get it for a decent price one way or another. Scalpers will hit it early and will make money on it early by controlling the market like they are currently. My hopes is that this summer they will be clogging the pegs. I have insurance, anyways, I have a comic shop dude who's pretty cool to me and is going to hold a set. My main concern is the faceoffs now.

Guy2: cottage cheese
Guy1: thats a milk carton...
Guy2: Yeah.. SO?
Guy1: COttage cheese doesnt come in a milk carton...

they're everywhere. they're like insects. they're in all the stores and even in your house. you're likely to wake up to one staring you in the face. they also come in swarms.

what i hate, is i think i get confused with being a scalper. cause i'll ask some workers if they have seen stuff and they don't ever make any sense. Also, i'll ask when the get shipments at TRU etc and they also tell me a different date.

My trip was unsuccessful to Walmart tonight. Bit some major balls. Luckily my girlfriend was having one of her girly freak out nights so I counseled her while I waited for the last of the toy stuff to be brought out. I'm still checking. Can't promise I'll be picking up a whole lot for everyone on the boards. I'll do what I can, but I don't have the money nor do I feel it's completely ethical to do that. I've heard of a lot of people buying up tons of the WML for people on boards, which is fine, but it screws out collectors who got there a little too late. It's a double edged sword, you screw scalpers by buying up everything but you also screw other locals. In a perfect world, everyone would be able to get theirs and leave with just that.

I will be picking up a few extras if I can afford it, but FTB and Rough are up first.

Toys is a rough thing, SHT. I think the majority of the collecting/scalping population is a bit immature in the first place. Maybe that comes because we're dealing with...toys? I'm not sure. But it's like grade school all over again. You gotta lie, cheat, and steal to be a collector. That's why I'm getting out of it after ML15. Can't take it anymore, I really can't. Well, I can, but not for much longer.

Collecting has just been a passion/obsession for me. It's gotten out of control to the point where I'm giving away figures to FTB and other people just to get rid of them. When I head home on the 5th I'm making another big box to get rid of.

the worker made me feel that he was gonna try to sell them on ebay. he's not the scalper i'm talking about. i know of at least 3 scalpers that don't work at WM and think there are at least 2 internal scalpers that do work there.

one of the external scalpers was the one who threatened me. he was using a boxcutter and was opening wrestling figs i think. i saw he had a bunch of star wars stuff already in his cart and saw the opened box. i saw a spider-man classics box and figured, what the hell. so i opened it up and it was just the vemon/manwolf set. but he looked at me and told me in a harsh tone to put the box down. he said that he was there first. I looked at him and poked back through the box and he stared me down. he lifted the boxcutter and said "get the hell away from there. i already "dun" told you once." Then i was like "oh wow, hobgoblin, finally" and walked away with the box. he walked after me and i tossed the box at him (not forcefully or anything cause i didn't want to make a scene) and told him to go to hell. I guess i should have been glad it wasnt the hobby wave cause i would have fought for cause i was just mad that someone could do that over freakin toys.

I don't mind people watching. I used to be very embarassed. I used to buy birthday cards for kids and act like it was a present. I was pathetic. Then, I stopped caring. It may be because when I first started doing the action figure thing I was 13 (I'm going to be 22 in 2 months) I was an akward looking chubby 13 year old. I didn't do much collecting in high school. I was busy with a lot of other things and action figures actually got me out of a depression. Weird friggin story how it happened, but I just got really depressed my freshman year of college and never left my dorm except for practice, class, and workouts. One day I went to the comic shop in town after getting a hair cut having not read a comic or bought an action figure for a while. Now, 3 years later, I have 2 full long boxes of comics and more figures than I know what to do with and couldn't be happier. The scalpers in town, if they beat me (which is hard to do sometimes), they are in and out with all the possible goods without anyone knowing. Makes me think the main scalper is a walmart worker. MLs? I don't get rid of many MLs per say. Just random figures that have no purpose. I send most of them FTB's way because he's working on a custom for me and hasn't mentioned what he wants in return so I send him all the fodder he can use, even if it's not for my custom. Sometimes I send him figures that are better than others, like I sent him a Hush Batman I didn't want.

But next time I go home and make a box, I'll post a list on the board here. I'll probably have a list of stuff for like $1 and stuff that I just want the cost of shipping for.

But for the most part I'm going to get a GOOD display case of some sort and put them in a nice out of the way display where they won't fall off. I'm thinking of doing a large glass display case that is set into the wall a few inches.

when i was a kid, getting an action figure always seemed to bring me up when i was down. and i think that's the same for most people and those of us who collect action figures still probably get a little bit of that feeling again like when we were young. i know i used to. but those positive feelings of getting new figs has been replaced with, oh crap, i gotta find this and get that. what if they don't have it, what if it's gone already and i'm too late. and that takes the fun out of it. in fact, it depresses me when i go shopping for the sole purpose of looking for figs and come up short. it used to be, oh well, they dont have it, i'll find it sometime. and then it depresses me that toys can depress me. it's kinda sad, but i know i'm not the only one. my mother was also the kind that pretty much just locked me up in my room with toys and didnt mess with me much. so that's probably another reason for my habits.

i'm sure i have. freakin ebay. i didnt even know how much i was spending. i'm an insomniac and sometimes i have times when it really gets to me and i don't know 100% what i'm doing. some actions seem right at the time and that kind of thing. heh.. Im pretty sure me buying up like 50 ML figures was almost completely because I had Poison ivy and I was on this drug to make me not itch and made me tired.. like a super benadryl pill...:P

i actually sold some comics after i realized i was spending too much. i sold the #1 uncanny x-men in mint condition. it was supposively signed by stan lee, but it could have been a fake and i woulnt have known. i felt bad about it though b/c it was my dads. he gave it too me along with all his other comics. i got real worked up about it and finally told him i sold it, and he was like, ok. so what?

that sucks man. well i'll let you go take care of that. think i'm gonna attempt to get some sleep. dont forget about me giving you sandman though. that's a done deal. it just might take some time for me to decide which one to give you. i'll let you soon as i decide. i'll probably give you the blue card one, but don't know when i'll be able to get it out to you. do you care if i send him loose or do you want him mint? i have a small box that he could fit nice in loose. let me know. but i'm going to bed for now, just PM me.

Go there to see a loose pick of daredevil. he looks a little disproportional to me. His legs look too short...

Plus his shoulders stick out more than necessary.

yeah. i'm a little disappointed cause i was looking forward to DD more than any other fig. i still like the urban legends one, i just wish it had more articulation.

This new DD will need some minor modifications. Like making his shoulders set in closer to the body. They look detached. The height issue is another story. I'm sure he won't be as bad as it seems.

Atleast I hope.

FEAR THE BAT

Kinda looks that way now that you mention it. Not a bad sculpt aside from the jutting shoulders

SpiderHulkThing

sometimes they suprise me in how great the detail is, but then again, sometimes they suprise me in how some sculpts don't seem up to par with older ones.
