It looks like he's just holding on to the web lines to me. Look at venom's left hand, you can see bits of the web-line dangling from it. I dont see anything suggesting that he's shooting webbing from his forearm.

I'm going to take a wild guess;

Prehaps the meteorite was bigger in size while outerspace, upon entry into the atmosphere, the meteorite began to break up, and prehaps the symbiote was within the very core. The last shred of protection, shielding it against the intense heat.

Who knows, or maybe the movie version of the symbiote isen't bothered by intense heat, I don't know.

I doubt money is an option with this film.

I think it always is with any film, no matter how much money they have if they can save money they will. They probably talked about the options of venom's origin they came to the conclusion that the meteorite one was less expensive and more convenient in the sense that it would'nt drag the main storyline.
They already have alot in this movie so a space shuttle crash landing sequence would have no doubt been cool to see onscreen but it would have taken more screentime and it really wasn't anything that was relevant(the space shuttle that is) to the rest of the plot. So they found a way to tell it faster and less expensive.

Well I think he's getting his butt whooped by Sandman or Venom and his mask moves out of place. That's probally why it looks so messed up. Anyways I'd like to show you the discription that I made of the construction fight scene and the simularities between the new Venom image:
Construction Yard Fight Sequence(Venom vs. Spider-Man):
"Where you goin' Miss?" asked the cab driver.
"Take me-," but before MJ could finish, something had landed on the front of the cab. It was Venom.
"What the HELL?!" screamed the cab driver as Venom ripped off the roof of the cab and grabbed MJ as she screamed in fear.
But Spider-Man appeared and the civilians turned towards him, as he web-swinged towards Venom. Venom turned towards Spider-Man who landed on the stoplight pole in front of Venom(close-up's to both Venom and Spidey). Spidey leaped towards Venom as the crowd chanted: "Go Spidey! Go Spidey!". Spider-Man landed on the roofless cab and punched Venom in the mouth. Venom barely bugged!
"My turn!" replied Venom as he grab Spidey's head and threw it down on the roofless cab. Then he picked Spidey back up, threw him high in the air and kicked him right towards another car(with MJ still in hand). Spidey had cuts all over his costume from the attack by his newly found foe(from the windshield of the car). Spidey rolled off the hood of the car as Venom threw MJ down in the seat of the roofless cab and leaped right beside Spidey, picked him up again and slammed him right on the roof of the cab. Then Venom grabbed MJ who was about to hit him with a metal pole. But before he could leap away, Spidey grabbed hold of Venom's leg and tugged as hard as he could on it but Venom pushed MJ to ground and kicked Spidey off with his other leg and picked MJ back up and leaped towards the roofless cab with her. Spidey got back to his feet and leaped towards Venom and MJ, but before he could reach them, Venom shot web all around the cab and in front of Spider-Man himself.
Spidey grabbed hold of the black webbing and yelled: "LET HER GO!"
"Why," laughed Venom as he shot another web between two building and threw MJ towards it. "Fine. It's you I want anyways!" replied Venom as he disappeared in thin air leaving a black cloud of smoke behind! Then all of a sudden, Venom appeared right behind Spidey and grabbed hold of Spidey and punched him in the face. But Spidey dropkicked Venom right off of the cab as he landed in his own webbing. Spidey then leaped towards MJ as he jumped over the black webbing in front of him.
"...are you alright?" asked Spidey.
"Yes but Peter... just... just be careful," cried MJ as she and Peter hugged each other. "LOOK OUT!" yelled MJ as Venom was in mid-air right behind Spidey and MJ, but before Venom could attack, Spidey kicked Venom right in mid-air with both feet. Venom was shot right towards another building and sent right threw it. Spidey web-swinged right towards where Venom was. Spidey landed inside the building from where Venom was, but Venom wasn't there! But all of a sudden the hand of Venom grabbed Spidey by his head and shot him threw the ceiling into another room. Venom came in threw were Spidey was shot threw as Spidey did him. Venom picked Spidey up and was about throw him across the room but failed when Spidey shot a webline towards the ceiling, swong away from Venom and then kicked Venom across the face. But before Spidey could repeat the attack again, Venom grabbed him by the legs and threw him out of the window(with desks, office chairs, and other debress falling behind him). Venom jumped right after him as Spidey shot two weblines towards a desk falling along with him and landed right on it(while still holding on to the weblines) and when Venom came close, Spidey dropkicked Venom and landed upside-down and then kicked Venom with both feet which sent Venom and Spidey along in the air towards the construction site.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHH!" screamed both Spidey and Venom as they both shot weblines at ends of the construction yard while falling. When they landed, they both landed in cement.
"Ahh shoot!" replied Spidey as him and Venom exchanged punches while trying to get out of the cement. Then finally both Spidey and Venom leaped out of the cement. Spidey leapt to his feet and started kicking Venom while he was down but Venom shot a webline at Spidey's face. Spidey tried to rip it off of his face but it was to hard, he could barely see out of his eye but finally ripped the webbing off of his face and when he did, Venom was gone! Spidey looked around for his foe but then suddenly Venom grabbed him by the head and pulled him up towards him. Then he threw Spidey away with force. Spidey had been shot right threw the concrete floor and started coughing as blood came running from his mask.
"...please... stop," begged Spider-Man as Venom started laughing beside him. "What... what do you... want?!" choked Spidey as he tried to crawl away from the menace beside his nearly lifeless body. Spidey breathed heavilly as he tried to crawl away but before he could crawl back to where he was shot out of Venom threw him back down to the ground and kicked Spidey right out of the area and back to the construction site as Spidey went right threw another wall. Spidey could barely move from where he lied.
"Come on Spidey! Suck it up," ordered Venom as Spidey quickly rolled to his backside and shot Venom with web-balls. Venom could barely react but then again vanished into thin air and appeared behind Spidey and kicked him threw the half-built wall window. Then picked Spidey back up and threw him high in the air but before Venom could attack Spidey, Spidey spun a webline on a metal construction bar and landed on it. Then Venom followed and started attacking Spidey but Spidey struck back by tying his fists up in webbing and threw a double hand punch towards Venom as he flew off of the bar. But as Spidey ripped the webbing off of his fists, the ground started shaking and water started blasting high from the sewer systems. It was Sandman! He broke threw the road in the form of a giant sand-monster who stood up high in front of Spidey.
Spidey ran away from the Giant-Sandman along the metal poll. The Giant-Sandman threw a punch towards Spidey which had sent him flying across the construction site area. Spidey finally landed on the ground and Sandman formed to his original self and grab hold of Spidey and formed a large sandbat with sandspikes along it. Mrs. Marko and her daughter ran into the construction site right behind Flint Marko who was about to attack Spidey.
"He's MINE!" yelled Venom as he bit off a chunk of Flint Marko(sand replaced the blood from running down from where Venom had bit him) then all of a sudden, Flint Marko turned into a huge pile of sand. Spidey looked up at Venom as the dark foe kicked Spidey across the face, then picked him up and aimed to scratch Spidey's face right off but missed and instead ripped off two large chunks off of Spidey's mask.
"Hi there Peter!" joked Venom as he threw a punch at Spidey, but before he hit Spidey, Spidey had dropkicked Venom away from him and then spun weblines at Venom's face. Venom easily ripped it off and was ready for action but Spidey was now not in front of him.
"Ohh Petey?! Where are-" before Venom could finish he was cut off as Spidey had kicked him from behind and Venom had landed face-first on the ground. Then Spidey leaped up high and started web-swinging away from Venom. But Venom suddenly appeared right in front of him on another building and then jumped towards Spidey and disappeared with him in thin air leaving behind a black cloud of smoke once again.
Venom was holding Spidey by the neck as they were both on top of metal construction bar. Spidey started kicking Venom in the stomache until Venom finally let go of him. Then Spidey ran backwards and then ran forward towards Venom and kicked him off the bar, but while Venom was in the air he shot a webline across Spidey's throat, grabbed the other end and started pulling on it, choking the life out of Spider-Man. Then Venom finally let it go and tied it up in a knot, then he grabbed both of Spidey's arms and tied them up with some more web and then crawled to the top of the bar. Symbiote moved away from Venom's face and revealed the face of Eddie Brock Jr.
"Reconize me Peter?" asked Eddie(still with the voice of Venom).
"...Eddie...?!" choked Spider-Man while grabbing hold of the webbing around his neck.
But suddenly, before Eddie could reply. A huge sandfist had hit Venom and sent him off of the bar. It was Sandman who had formed on the bar and helped untangle Spidey. Spidey was untangled from the webbing and stood back to his feet.
"...why are you helping me?" asked Spidey.
"...sometime's... to do what's right you have to listen to the people that care for you most," explained Flint Marko. "And... LOOK OUT!"
Venom had colided with Sandman and sent him right inside the construction site furnace.
"NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed Spidey as he leapt towards Venom but the villainous foe had disappeared again and grabbed Spidey from behind and then held him by the neck and leaped to the top of the nearly finished construction site building. Venom tied both of Spidey's hands up with web and broke the wall in front of them down.
"I mind as well reveal your face to the world before I kill you," replied Venom as he pulled off Spidey's mask will the civilians below gathered around to see the face of their hero. But as the spotlight shined on Spidey's face he spun around and kicked Venom away from him and escaped from the webbing that had his hands tied up. Spidey then leapt towards Venom but again grabbed hold of Spidey and suddenly disappeared with him again in thin air as they both appeared in the middle of the Manhattan bridge road. A firetruck was about to hit both of them but they both rolled out of the way as the firetruck collided with the wires around the bridge and crashed threw and was facing the ocean water. Venom grabbed Spidey and swong him towards the firetruck but Spidey reversed and held Venom up against the firetruck.
"Give it up Eddie! Don't let it take over you like it did me, or else your gonna someone you care about," argued Spidey as he was pushed away.
"I'm not interested in hurting anyone else! Except you," explained Venom as Spidey ran towards him and was shot in the air by Venom and landed on the firetruck as it started to fall a little more.
"HELP! HHHEEELLLPPP!" yelled the man inside the firetruck as Venom jumped on the firetruck.
"...I have to save this man," said Spider-Man.
"Why? What has this man done?" asked Venom.
"HE SAVES LIVES! If you don't let me help him, then you leave me no choice..."
"And what choice would that be?" asked Venom.
"This," answered Spidey as he shot a webline towards a support pole and swong it towards Venom who fell off of the firetruck. Spidey crawled along the side of the firetruck where the voice came from, opened the door and pulled out the fireman and web-swinged with him safely back on the bridge. Before the fireman could say "Thanks", Venom threw Spidey towards the firetruck and again aimed to scratch Peter's face off but instead broke open the gas-tank as it started flooding gas along the road. Venom aimed to again attack Spidey but Spidey knocked him over, jumped high in the air, spun two weblines next to Venom and shot himself back down but Venom had rolled out of the way and Spidey screamed in pain as he grabbed hold of his legs. Venom then grabbed Spidey's legs, spun him around and then shot him high in the air on a bridge platform on the very top of the bridge(closeup to lighten'-up cigrette on the ground and gasoline headed towards it). Venom started stomping on Spidey's legs angerly until he brought Spidey to his feet and pushed his head towards the edge of the platform; showing him how far down it was.
"You scared Peter?!" asked Venom(closeup of gasoline hitting the cigrette and lighting the gasoline on fire while headed towards the truck).
Spider-Man's spider-sense went off and he saw the fire headed towards the truck.
"Eddie I'll give you one last chance. If you don't give up I'll do what I have to do! So what's your answer?" asked Spider-Man as he faced Venom. "Cause I'm sure you don't want to die today."
"If I have to risk my life to kill you... I would!" answered Venom(closeup of fire about to hit gasoline tank on the firetruck).
"Then there's no hope for you Eddie. I'm sorry'," replied Spider-Man as he kicked Venom off of the platform(closeup of fire hitting the gasoline tank).
The firetruck had exploded and collided with Venom which had sent him towards the ocean water.

This is how I see spidey's mask getting ripped in the next pic.Venom is holding spidey down on the beam by a web as Sandman grows slowly to 80 feet to kill spidey.

You hear the news reporter saying:this might be the end of spider-man.Then you hear these explosions,and Sandman shrinks back down.And the pumpkin bombs shreded spidey's mask like they did in the first movie.

Then New Goblin flies over and cuts the web Venom is holding spidey down with.Then the battle royale starts.

This is how I see spidey's mask getting ripped in the next pic.Venom is holding spidey down on the beam by a web as Sandman grows slowly to 80 feet to kill spidey.

You hear the news reporter saying:this might be the end of spider-man.Then you hear these explosions,and Sandman shrinks back down.And the pumpkin bombs shreded spidey's mask like they did in the first movie.

Then New Goblin flies over and cuts the web Venom is holding spidey down with.Then the battle royale starts.
That would be freaking amazing. Just imagine the tense moment. Everyone in watching Spider-Man get beaten and about to be taken out for good. The reporter says "This could be the end of Spider-Man" and there some quiet drama music in the background (from the composer of the movie, not the city streets) This moment goes by slowly and Sandman goes for one final blow when Harry comes in :D That would be kickass!:hyper:

No it is not. Its got nothing to do with the mask losing tension or being damaged. The mask is poorly designed that offers limited and poor visibility. Look at the mask properly, everything else is still in place. The rips in the mask have no affect on the positioning of the mask in this instance. This isn't the first time I've noticed this, the same happened in both movies before. The lenses on the mask are poorly positioned.

That's not true. In actuallity, there's sort of a helemt in bewteen the suit material and the actor's face. This gives the face a shape and keeps the material in place. However, in scenes when Peter's face is exposed, like at the end of the original movie or in that shot from SM3, there's no helmet in order to show the face. You can also notice this in SM2 when Spidey is on the train. The New Yorkers give Peter his mask, he slips it on and it doesn't look right because its over his bare face. The camera cuts away and when it cuts back, the mask is perfect (and seems to have magically sewn itself the the rest of the suit).

Watch the special features about the costumes and such. The lenses are where the actors eyes are, but in these certain shots that can be messed up.
