What do you think, Hatter was always an intellectual that chose to escape into a fantasy world, and Hopkins is scary as Hell.

Mad Hatter isn't tall and fat, nothing against Hopkins he's fine actor also he turned down chance to play Alfred who was my first choice but I could see him as Calendar Man who's kinda of Hannibal Lecter type that character was played by Hopkins.

The Chairman

He'd be perfect for Calender Man. And Anthony Hopkins is not that tall BTW, Two Face.

That being said, Rush IS The Mad Hatter.

I agree 100% with this post.

Another person I could see as The Mad Hatter would be Andy Serkis.

Serkis is a great choice as well. He was awesome as Gollum. I can totally see him in the role.

My TOP FIVE picks for The Mad Hatter are:

1) Geoffrey Rush

2) Tim Curry

4) Brad Dourif (though I'd prefer him for Jeremiah Arkhum)

Kelsey Grammer for the Mad Hatter IMO. Sure he is Beast - however the make up makes any comparison hard to notice - it would be like using Alan Cummings for a role in a DC movie.

My Top 3 (well, 4, technically) for Jeremiah Arkhum.

I agree to an extent. Since General Stacy and Dr. Arkhum are not major characters, I wouldn't mind seeing Cromwell in both roles. If they're not playing two mega important characters (ie, like Jackman as Wolverine and Two-Face), that's different.

Exactly, I can see problems with having an actor play a role in two DC or Marvel films- but outside of that I dont see a big deal. When people in Hollywood look for an Italian Gangster, they look for Pacino or Deniro - if they can surive doing two similar films, playing similar roles, I think any actor can.

Well, I always pictured The Mad Hatter to be one of Batman's older rogues, so I don't think Hopkins' age rules him out. That being said, I still don't think he's right fort he part.

Height really doesn't matter IMO.

Besides, none of these choices are like superhumanly tall:

Geoffrey Rush (6')
Tim Curry (5'9)
Andy Serkis (5'8)
Brad Dourif (5'10)
Tim Roth (5'7)
Robin Williams (5'7)
Anthony Hopkins (5'9)

Mr. Socko
04-22-2006, 09:17 PM
How short is Penguin the comics and how short is Danny Devito? But there's 2 things wrong with that, Danny was Penguin in Returns and would suck at being a Mad Hatter anway.

Danny DeVito is 5', and he would be a bad Mad Hatter. He would've made a perfect Harvey Bullock if he wasn't in Rturns though.

Professor Flitwick. Yes indeed. He was also the Leprechaun in the "Leprechaun" movies; Wicket the Ewok in "Return of the Jedi," Oberon in "Ray," Willow in "Willow." The guy gets around. He's a fantastic actor. He's just very small. Actually casting as, let's say, Penguin, would give us the most accurate version of pre-crisis Penguin ever... and, for that matter, the most accurate Penguin, period, considering the lame-ass competition. ;)

Too short. Same for Mini-me.

Davis was actually closer to 2'8 when he played Wicket (but he was 12 years old at the time) and he's grown considerably since then. Last time I saw the the guy who plays Mini-me was in a laptop commercial with Yao Ming, who is something like seventy-three feet and two inches tall. ;) Made Mini-me look a little shorter than he is.

Yeah, Flass was Gordon's partner in "Year One" when Gordon first arrived in Gotham on a transfer from the Chicago PD. Flass in the comics was an aryan bastard with short blond hair, well-groomed and clean-shaven. He was about twice Gordon's size, though, and completely crooked. When Gordon didn't join the other cops in their illegal dealings, Flass and some of the boys put on ski masks and beat the hell out of him.

Once his bones knit, Gordon, having come to an understanding about doing business in Gotham, caught up with Flass in the dead of night and kicked the living crap out of him. That squared things up between them.

Well, i dont picture the mad hatter as a midget in a movie. I think that it couldnt work. I mean, some things need to be changed in a comic book adaptation to the screen, and that is one of those things. I think that the mad hatter needs to be some short and middle aged actor, but not a dwarf. That would be ridiculous.

By the way, Tony Hokins could work very well 10 years ago, but now, he is 69, i cant picture the madd hatter being that old. I picture him as a middle aged man in his 50s , but not that old .
