Hes probably most famous for playing the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. One of my favorite movies overall is Dear Frankie.

He first got attention starring in Dracula 2000, and has starred in Reign of Fire, Tomb Raider 2, Attila, Timeline, and most notably Phantom.

He's a damn good choice for the lead, carry's alot of intensity and screen presance.

Man, if that's flabby, I don't want to see fit! :eek: ;)

Yeah, Phantom kinda sucked, but Butler was a great highlight as the Phantom. I bet he'll play a good Leonidas. :up:

Both Butler and the movie 300 will be awesome. I did had my doubts about him (being Greek myself and fan of the comic, I want this movie to be as good as possible), but as soon as I watched the making ofs, I'm highly optimistic.:)

Yeah, I'm not sure if he can ditch the accent (I've never seen him in a role where he actualyl had to so it's hard to tell), but he has a good look. Of course I would still take Bale over him any day, but I could definately see him as a nice second choice. He starred with Bale in Reign of Fire too, which makes it another reason to enjoy that movie.

I personally think he looks more like Bruce Wayne than Bale does, but that's just a matter of opinion. I'm sure he'd be able to lose the accent, given the proper coaching. The first time I saw this guy I literally thought, "Damn, he'd be a good Batman."

This is all theoretical of course.

If you have ever seen THE GAME OF THEIR LIVES, Gerard Butler portrayed an all American athelete who was the Soccer "Goaly" Frank Borghi! Yes! Gerry can definitely "ditch" his wonderufl Scot accent, if he needs to! If you've ever seen him interviewed on LENO, ELLEN or LATE NIGHT WITH CRAIG FERGUSON then Gerry loves to imitate the Long Beach folk. You cannot tell he is from anywhere else but the states! Frankly, the Scot brogue turns me on!

Yeah, his hair and overall "darker" features do look a little more like Bruce. I've also never seen him in a movie where he's like a wealthy playboy either (not saying he can't, just never seen it), and Bale is one of the best actors out there IMO at giving off that personality.

From what I've seen though, Butler does have the charisma to pull it off. Like you said, it would have been interesting.
The difference between Christian Bale and Gerard Butler is that Gerard is a "natural." Bale is an "actor." If one "acts" then they "ain't" doing it right! A "natural" becomes! :-)

When "Creedy" went for a smoke with the dragon in REIGN OF FIRE, my attention was lost! "Luke Skywalker" doesn't have as much charisma!

:trans: Gerard finished filming ROCKNROLLA and is now in Australia filming NIM'S ISLAND.

In October 2007, he is scheduled to start shooting:THE UNTOUCHABLES: CAPONE RISING (prequel to THE UNTOUCHABLES).

Then in January 2008, he is suppose to start filming GAME.

He just bowed out of the film THERESE RAQUIN because of obligations to do THE UNTOUCHABLES.

His film with Pierce Brosnan, SHATTERED (formerly BUTTERFLY ON A WHEEL) just had a limited one week release in Miami, Florida (only in Miami) on July 27th.

The DVD for SHATTERED is due out (in the U.S.) on December 25th.

And he has a film: PS I LOVE YOU that will have it's U.S. debut on December 21st (2007).

We are waiting to hear if he secured the role of the "Black Freighter Pirate" in the WATCHMEN film. Hope he gets it!
