View Full Version : Silliest Superheroes needed

Well, our animated Batman cartoon is almost done. It's a comedy called "Batman's Gonna Get Shot in the Face". We're recording the voicework in a couple weeks. Here's my question. In one scene... we see Hawkman standing in a line filled with lame superheroes all applying for the Justice League (none of them have a chance). So far I have The Toxic Avenger, Savage Dragon, The Tick, and Swamp Thing to give you an idea of what we're looking for. It's a nod to the lesser known superheroes. Any ideas on others we should add?

Ambush Bug, Black Vulcan, Apache Cheif, The Wonder Twins, Clock King, G'Nort. That's all I can think of right now. There are a lot of lame heroes in past incarnations of the Legion

haha Wonder Twins is too easy. Apache Chief on the other hand... that's gold.

How is Swamp Thing lame? Swamp Thing kicks ass.

I have to agree with that. He's not a lower tier, lame character.

I don't have any heroes you could add, but I have to request that you remove Swamp Thing from the list. He's not part of the popular roster of the DC Universe in the same way that Batman or Superman would be, but the Swamp Thing character and storyline is a key part of comic book history, and to include him with the likes of the Wonder Twins is an insult to the character as well as the genre.

You totally have to include the main Justice Friends from Dexter's Laboratory: Major Glory, Val Hallen and The Infraggable Krunk.

For good measure I'd also include Batduck and Decoy from Tiny Toons.

Great picture overall. From a creative services perspective, however, I would take a second look at your Toxie. He occupies a prominent spot in the lineup, and yet he's not that recognizable at first glance (without reading this thread, I might have thought it was a random zombie). That kind of dilutes the visual gag. Consider putting his headband on, or making the iconic mop more prominent, or replacing him with BatDuck.

Hilarious premise, though.

the camera pans to the left, down the line. There are way more characters people will go nuts for. As for Toxie being up so close, that's because Lloyd Kaufman (the guy who created him) was my lead actor in a short film I just shot and he asked me to use Toxie in whatever toon we do next. I'll show this forum topic to our animator, he'll love the feedback positive and negative.

According to Filmthreat.com/Filmthreat magazine, "Batman's Gonna Get Shot in the Face" is the 4th best short film of 2006. I know they were spreading podcasts of it but I didn't know how huge it had become. This is a huge boost to the Bullcrank crew and you can watch or download the film at http://www.Bullcrank.com (http://www.bullcrank.com/) .

here's the link to the top 10 list of 2006:

I think you mean "Radioactive Man".

Heck, there's a slew of superhero parody figures I could think of who'd almost fit the bill: Bartman (Bart Simpson), Earthworm Jim, Spider-Ham, The Creeper, Pieman (Homer Simpson), Deadpool, Powdered Toastman (from Ren & Stimpy).

1) Dream isn't a super hero.

2) I don't see why he wouldn't be let into the League if he were, since he'd be the most powerful member of the team by far and would be able to solve most of their problems (at least ones involving sentient beings) rather quickly.

As would Swamp Thing, Savage Dragon, and Hawkman.

larryfilmmaker
01-20-2007, 02:33 PM
Swamp Thing would require "wet floor" signs all over the Hall of Justice and people would be slipping. You know, the powerless humans in the league like Batman and Blue Beatle could break something.

You're right. I have sinned! Swamp Thing is GOD! No but seriously I know better than to argue with you, I remember those days... when we made our first cartoon and you were calling me names and all that and saying it was our "15 minutes" and to enjoy it while it lasted or something for our cartoon "Nintendo: Oldschool Revolution". The anger will fade as you get older I promise.
