View Full Version : The Joker in Batman Begins!?!?

The screen is hard to see because of the fear gas everywhere but....
If you pause the movie at exactly 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 21 seconds, there is a shot of a gang of criminals. Now if you look to the very far left you'll see the guy at the end has dark green hair, very white skin, and he's wearing a purple jacket and orange pants. If you don't believe me pause the movie at 1:59:21. Now tell me, am I just seeing things or is this The Joker?
Edit: Opps, sorry, I posted this in the wrong forum.

I see the guy you're talking about, but the picture makes it pretty much impossible to tell who or what he is. Still, that's a great find, and likely to be debated for years to come!

I'll look into this when I get the chance. There have been threads made in the past before about a possible Joker sighting in BB before, yet all of them turned out to be completly false. Like the time someone thought they saw him in the cell scene right before they were all blown up. Still, it could indeed be a great find.

The face is very hard to see but I know for a fact he's wearing a purple coat and orange pants. The face looks to be very white too with green hair compared to the other people he is standing next to. But like everyone else is saying, it's very hard to see.

I remember the stuff you're talking about, and when I saw this thread I thought that's what it was going to be. What he's found is something completely different.
I've got that frame frozen right now and the problem is that with all the gas, you really can't tell much about the guy in question. But I see him, and he's just visible enough that you can see him and think he *could* be the Joker, but then again it might not be. There's somebody there wearing what appear to be orange pants and a dark jacket that might or might not be purple... I see hair sticking up, color indeterminate; light skin, color indeterminate, dark mouth, color indeterminate. Face mostly blurry. No detail is evident.
Can't say that it's the Joker. Hard-pressed to prove it isn't.

I don't believe it's him either. But like I said, I'll see for myself. Can you tell me how long he's on screen for atleast?

About a second, and never clearly shown. Immediately afterward, they cut to Batman doing his Lo Pan impersonation.

Hmm. I'm getting to the scene now, he only does one motion once the movie is paused and that's it correct?

I don't think it's him. Just lighting alters the way he looks, i don't see a purple jacket, even though the steam it looks like an orange jacket. Not to mention, if it was him, I'm sure we'd have gotten a more prominant/establishing shot of him and Goyer/Nolan would have been like "Theres a Joker cameo in the movie if you look hard enough for it" in like an interview or something.

The jacket definitely looks a different color from the pants, from what I can see. However, as I said, it's pretty much impossible to see anything about the guy.
With that said - and I'm not saying that it's Joker - you have to realize that even if it WAS intended to be him, they'd never have shown him clearly because they didn't know, at that point, who was going to play him and it would be pointless to show him for no reason anyway. If they were going to drop something like that into the movie, it would be in exactly this fashion - where you never see him clearly.
Again, not saying it's him. Just saying that the fact that you can't see him clearly really isn't an argument against it.

Alright, I've managed to get it paused on that exact scene. I also let it run over and over again, just to see if I could get a closer look. It isn't him. There's a slight resemblence from the way he's dressed, all I can see is his skin is very pale. I can't exactly tell what color hair he has, but it doesn't look anything like that of Joker's green hair. But I see what Keyser was saying, he does indeed appear to be wearing a jacket. I still don't think it's him, I mean could he be there just for his mentioning by Gordan toward the end?
Mr. Socko

Idk, this is for pure speculation. Much like the Scarecrow becoming the Joker in Batman 2.
Hmm, I'm gonna make a suggestion of Ra's Al Ghul becoming Two Face in the sequel tomorrow.

Exactly -- you can't really tell anything about the guy, so it's sort of left open as a legitimate topic of debate, IMO. It probably isn't him. But, who knows...

If we had a screen grab of it, then maybe people could judge it for themselves. Still, it probably wouldn't solve anything. Like you said earlier, the gas in that scene is a huge factor.

I don't see it.
Personally I always thought that during the scene where Batman is running with the bats down the hallway of Arkham Asylum is the scene where they put in a few "surprises." Something Nolan put in to mess with the watchers. You know the two guys who's faces you see, one at a time, through the window slots of the cells? I figured the skinny guy was Jack Napier and the larger guy was Arnold Wesker.

Plus, the evidence bag that the Joker Card is in at the end of BATMAN BEGINS is marked to have been found by a J. Kerr. (Joe Kerr = JOKER) Now, could they use this later on to have it been Joker all along who gave the card to the police, leading them on a wild goose chase of some sorts. Teasing them, and that's all part of the joke?

Here's the pic as is from the movie and another that I tried to lighten up a bit. Personally, I'm not convinced. His hair really doesn't look green to me, nor does his skin look all that much more pale compared to the people around him. Interesting find though.

I assumed that was just an homage to the comics, like an inside joke of sorts. I doubt it really meant anything, since it was so insignificant you'd have to pause the movie to notice it. Perhaps though, I guess it is possible.
That is pretty fuackin cool . . . and I'm sure that was no accident; I just hope the real Joker looks different than that . . . I think the Joker should have more style . . . heh
