If you could talk to Fox & Tim Story and speak your mind about what you expect out of FF2...what would you say? We all know that Avi Arad & Tim Story know that we want more action and they promised us that. Tim Story also said we're gonna see the real "full" Doom in the sequel. Nothing else of significance has been said except a possible wedding, Sue getting preganant by the end of FF2, and seeing the Fantasticar. I'm sure I or someone else created a thread like this after the original movie came out but let's start fresh. I know for a fact that people from Marvel and Fox, actors, writers, and directors from time to time visit these boards so here's hoping they're watching.
The only thing I'll say to them is GO ALL OUT on this one. Make it a better film, load it up with action, & don't lose the comedy element that makes the FF so different. I'd love to see The Thing outside sunbathing with the rest of them on the roof of the Baxter building and seeing lizards all over him trying to keep warm. LOL

More action. More excitment. Go all out ? Deffently. As JA said, it will be amped up, faster paced, more intense, everything a fan would want to see in a Fantastic Four sequel. Origin is out of the way. Time to get the hands dirty.

The problem with "man in suit" over CGI is a "man in suit" looks slow and cumbersome. When the thing was running he looked like a man in a suit. Sure the Thing looked good standing still, and Chiklis sounded great but The Hulk was much more fun to watch as a character. You could do whatever he did in the comics with a CGI character and I thought it looked damn good. I wish Chikilis would go for a voice over or at least use more CGI in the action sequences. I'm more afraid that Marve is gonna put a "man in suit" in Hulk 2. I'd be freaking mad.

I would tell him that the first movie was good, but it had some problems. I still liked it alot though.
For Fantastic Four II, more action, more comic-like Dr. Doom, more comedy, DON'T make it really kiddy, make it with some teenage+ stuff in it [some more cussing and stuff, adult jokes that kids won't get.] because I don't want it to feel like I'm at some kiddy movie. Even better special effects than the first one.

^ Yeah and take more time to edit the film properly so it has the right pace. That bridge scene was awful and there were so many scenes where I thought someone should have yelled cut yet the scene continued with uncomfortable silences.

Some things were fake looking, and were easy to tell.
Other things looked amazing, like Human Torch.
Oh, and I don't want to wait five months for the freakin' villain action figure again!

Agree w/ the bridge scene...totally disagree w/ your second statement...the problem w/ editing in my opinion was nothing, absolutely nothing was allowed to flesh itself out....never saw a bit of silence in the movie even though there were times i wanted Johnny to be silent and let the scene move to its own climax, example....the scene between Sue and Reed in the lab.....i was actually surprised that Johnny didn't come into the planetarium scene, or the statue of liberty scene for a one-liner....
Let the scenes breath, and move at a more natural pace rather than...."sh** people we have to edit this thing to move faster so that we can fit one more showing in a day at the theatre, hey Johnny throw out one more one-liner so we can shut this scene down...."

That won't change, its simple fact that they produce fewer female action figures...maybe they will do something next time around...but i doubt it.

Keep The Thing as a man in a suit. It's one of the things I loved most about the movie. Great action scenes are a dime a douzen in comic book movies. But actors that are so dedicated to their character that they sweat and suffer in one of those costumes are pretty rare.
Make these people look and feel like a family! That's my biggest disappointement about FF. There was virtually no interaction between Johnny and Sue, except her telling him to stop acting like a kid... once. Maybe bring in Dr Storm and see how the three interact.
While you're at it, give Sue some better lines for God's sake.

I'll take your word, of course, JMfan , carissima.
In any case, the Hell remark wasn't directed to you.
But if Story continues with this kind of FF movies, even all our generous everlasting good-will won't prevent him having a place in the last circle of Hell, those of the betrayers.

I just read a statement that I thought fit the first film: "I'm tired of seeing 'ninja Turtle logic' in adult films." I thought that perfectly described a few scenes in the first film. Like when Reed talls Sue that he and Johnny can't get thru on the bridge but she can. So she strips, turns invisible, and JUST BARELY GETS THRU THE CROWD AHEAD OF REED AND JOHNNY!
Also the dialogue when they're getting ready to speak to the public:
Cop: {They're already calling you} the Fantastic Four! (What did Johnny do exactly?)
Johnny: Coooolll!
Sue: Wait, where are you going?
Johnny: I'm gonna go talk to 'em!
Sue: No, we should think this through! (UGH!)
Johnny: That's great...brainstorm!
Dialogue like this and stupid logic like above (in addition to the Thing suit) helped make this movie fail to come to life for me.

Yeah, I agree keep the suit. I HATED the CGI Hulk, let me repeat I HATED IT.So, please do not do that to the Thing. Better dialog..please! Keep in the funny parts, but do not force it because there is a break in the conversation as said above or when it really does not belong in the scene.Make them alittle more "adult"

It is not a question of CGI against actor. Not for me, anyway.
The Thing could be bigger (like they did to differentiate the hobbits and the others in LOTR) and he could have some touches of CGI to make him look more rocky, with a brow just like that one Willie showed us one or two pages ago.
I mean, if Story and his fellas weren't so damm lazy.

When The Thing went into the Transformation chamber with Doom's power charging it perhaps that could explain the difference in how The Thing could look in the sequel. They could make him taller, bigger, add the brow, etc...It's gotta look better in live action though. This isn't a comic book 2 dimensional 4 color cover.

I agree ADD THE BROW but please keep everything else about the Thing. I'm glad the CGI route is gone forever. The cast, FX and overall look is simply perfect.
I honestly think Tim Story did the best he could given what he had to work with in terms of the script. Fanboys need to get off his back. The editing seemed fine to me as well.
My advice seems awfully rudimentary and blatantly obvious... JUDGE HOW TO SPEND THE BUDGET BETTER. As mentioned above, the bridge scene was less then spectacular and that's a shame for something that ate up so much of the production budget. The DVD commentary and other sources stated how elaborate and how costly that bridge scene was. It simply wasn't worth the effort. It would've been far better to showcase the introduction of the characters and their powers in another way and use the money to bolster the rest of the film. Better spent money means opportunities to advance character as well. For instance, a montage of the FF stopping crime (ALA Spider-Man 1) would've been fun to see and would've advanced the plot far better then having the FF have instant fans for no real reason. That leads to my other point... NO MORE SHORTCUTS. Plot shortcuts hurt FF with the critics and ultimately that cuts in to the bottom line at the box office. Shortcuts like having Ben's girl break up with him on the bridge and having those fans I mentioned turn up instantly at the Baxter Building with signs like, "#1 Fan." There's no excuse for a sloppy script and hopefully FF2 will learn from its mistakes.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed FF for what it was but it's time to turn it up a notch. The summer of 2007 will be loaded with quality films. If FF2 doesn't reach the level that these characters display in the books, FF3 will never happen and that would be a true shame.

If he was reading:
Tim all I can say is...THANK YOU!
The Thing's better...brow, skin texture, etc..., the teaser is 10 times better than the 1st teaser of the first film, The silver surfer looks magnificent, the actions seems to start from the get go, etc...
The only thing remaining is what you did w/Doom! From what little we've seen so far it speaks volumes. You listened to what the fans didn't like and also gave us more of what we did like! It's obvious.

hahahah, thats not funny when you think about it.
ok this is what I would say to Tim Story, I love the theme of FF, It is great that you can take your whole family to a movie.
Thing: More brow, shorts, no more I am fine with how I am.
Susan: She has to try harder at being more maternal.
Johnny: Ok we have seen the wiseguy, show us another facet.
Reed: Be a leader and have a clear vision for your team.
Running Time: Please 2 1/2 hours, please give us this with a solid arc and good editing and you will have our respect.
Doom: Let him be mad
Galactus: Just give the man some lunch, maybe a planet we are not on so we can see how he chows down as a Surfer flash back or something.
Surfer: Be the guy kirby created
Alicia, let us see how fragile she can be and why she needs ben
I know we are asking for a classic, but you know why not why should we not rise above our stars why not us.
Three words Tim Story
as Picard would say
MAKE IT SO

Good CG get's you real far.
I don't think you lose any emotion because of it.
If anything you can add more with the right blend shapes. :p sorry Animator terminology.
It's great that Chiklis loves pouring his heart into the character and all, but there is only so much he can do so he won't look so stiff.

F41 had enough action...Now all they need is to up the ante...Same material, but better quality...We don't need a whole lot of action. As far as I'm concerned, action is one of the things that F41 didn't lack..

Fox don't need to be emailed, as people have pointed out before, they read pretty much everything on this board. I know for a fact that both people from production, and Fox are reading pretty much everything that is being posted on this board. Remember, some of them are even big FF fans (at Fox I mean, we know a lot of people involved in the production crew are as well).
I can't speak for Tim, but I am sure that he reads these boards too, and certainly any comments that are left over on his Myspace. I can certainly direct the relevant people towards this thread more specifically, as I am sure Advanced Dark can as well.

Ooooh, I didn't realise it was an old thread, I should check the dates on here lol I was just meaning that instead of bombarding people with emails, people should just stick to this thread for feedback. I know (and so do the SHH admins) that this forum is visited daily by a lot of people who are involved, which is really cool. And while they aren't able to directly participate with us for various reasons, they value the feedback that we give and enjoy some of the innovative threads that you guys come up with (ie, countdown with covers until the release date) etc
So keep typing, they are listening, and not just in threads specifically addressed to them ;)
AD, I hope you don't think I was meaning the thread wasn't necessary, its a good idea :D
