Hey Yo,
Some of you might have seen the Batman Elimination games that Doc Ock started and that I have since taken over. Basically, there's a list of Batman-themed choices and you vote until there's one left. They're pretty fun and a good, non-spam way to up that post count.
In order to generate ideas for future rounds, this thread is for everyone to post suggestions for themes and choices they'd be interested in. Feel free to make any suggestion, but the theme Round 40 - should be expansive enough so that we can get at least 10 choices.

I was thinking of doing his vehicles or his gadgets. But I don't think he has that huge a variety of either to merit their own round....

Haha, I e-mailed Doc Ock about this earlier and he told me Mister J would do one; awesome.
We can get some ideas from the threads 100% similar to this one in Superman World and Spidey-World and stuff...heck in Spidey-World they are already up to Round 20.

Hello,
Since many of you are familiar with Quentin Beck's Spider-Man Elimination Game, and since he's always asking for suggestions for a new round, I figured a Suggestion Box Thread might be a good idea.
Here are the previous games done...
Round 1: Villains
Round 2: Grade B Villains
Round 3: Goblins
Round 4: Peter's Family and Friends
Round 5: Villains named after Animals
Round 6: Villain Teams
Round 7: Allies
Round 8: Allies Part 2
Round 9: Story Arcs
Round 10: Costumes
Round 11: The Final. All top 10 winners battle off.
Round 12: I forgot
Round's 13 to 16 were just random villains and characters.
Round 17: Writers
Round 18: Clones
Round 19: Best Single Story Issue
Round 20: C Listed Supporting Character
:)
Which ones you think would work for Batman ones? Of course small details would have to change to make it work for Bats.
Fledermaus

Story arcs would be good, or favorite Bat-family comic, best team-up/crossover, supporting bat-cast (nightwing, robin, batgirl,azrael,gordon,alfred,etc..)
Mister J

Since the Batmobile would likely dominate any vehicle list, I had a thought. I just came across this site (http://www.batmobilehistory.com/index.html). It's a pretty comprehensive listing of nearly every Batmobile ever, including images. We could get a list of the most recognizable ones (through comics, TV, movies). Just through TV or movies, that's a list of about 8 or so. Tossing in a few comic versions could round the list out.
For another round, there are other vehicles (Batplane, Bat-gyro, Batboat, etc.) that a list of around 10 could be made. Those might harder to dig up some pictures on.
Gadgets is a bit trickier. The variety is there, but I'm not sure how feasible they are. I'm listing these out of the Batman Ultimate Guide. I'm sure there are probably others.
1. Grapnel
2. Bat-Cuffs
3. Gas Pellets
4. Bat-Grenades
5. Bat-Bolas
6. Mini-Batarang (shuriken)
7. In-Flight Steerable Batarang
8. Hard Impact Batarang
9. Cutting Batarang
10. Spinning Batarang
Suggestions, additions or improvements to any of these are appreciated.

I just got a good idea.
This could be like sort of in the system the X-Men Elimination rounds goes by...in parts:
We could choose like a certain number (not too high) of villains choose which Graphic Novel was their best role. After the end of each part we have one huge final round where each go against eachother.
Ex:
One round- (Obviously have several against eachother at once)
Scarecrow in As the Crow Flies Vs. Scarecrow in Haunted Knight
Final round- (Maybe the same or have semi-finals and then have final with one versus the other)
Scarecrow in Haunted Knight Vs. Two-Face in The Long Halloween
Get it?
I think something like that would be really cool. If you need better explaining of what I am talking about just ask..I know I do not always explain stuff clearly.

These are the best complete scans I could get; the book is way oversized. Clicking on the thumbnails gives a good full-size view of the pages if the larger pics aren't visible enough. There are a few on there I didn't list beforehand (Blow Gun, Aerosol Spray) but the whole page is fair game.

Good stuff, Captain Stacy.
That gave me an idea for Girlfriends/Love Interests
Julie Madison
Silver St. Cloud
Vesper Fairchild
Vicki Vale
Talia al Ghul
Selina Kyle
Shondra Kinsolving
Kathy Kane
Sasha Bordeaux
Pamela Isley (I know...it's primarily phermone-induced, but there's some tension there and I needed a 10th.)

Villains from the 1966 film and the theatrical releases:
The Joker (Cesar Romero)
The Penguin (Burgess Meredith)
Catwoman (Lee Meriwether)
The Riddler (Frank Gorshin)
Max Shreck (Christopher Walken)
Bane (Jeep Swenson)
Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson)
Victor Zsasz (Tim Booth)
The Joker (Jack Nicholson)
The Penguin (Danny Devito)
Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer)
Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones)
The Riddler (Jim Carrey)
Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger)
Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman)
Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson)
The Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy)
I split them into groups (66 movie/lesser villains, major villains) in case we wanted to make two shorter rounds instead of a round with 17 choices.

Villains from the Animated Series:
Bane
Catwoman
Clayface
The Joker
Killer Croc
The Mad Hatter
Man-Bat

The Penguin
Poison Ivy
Ra's al Ghul
The Riddler
The Scarecrow

Kyodai Ken (Ninja)
Lyle Bolton (Lock-Up)
Mary Louise Dahl (Baby Doll)
The Phantasm (Andrea Beaumont)
Professor Milo
Red Claw
Roland Daggett
Rupert Thorne
Talia al Ghul
Tony Zucco
There may be a couple of others. There's like 30 of them as is. We could break them up by status/importance or something or just eliminate some flat out. It seems like we could get some good games out of the lesser characters though.

I like that twist that in the X-Men games; matching up the top two finalists from previous rounds into a game of 8 or 10 choices itself. There's alot that can be with that TAS Villains list.
The current game is winding down. We should start thinking about the next round. Going off what's been listed, we have:
Gadgets
Bat-chick
Girlfriends/Love Interests
Movie Villains (could be 2 parts)
TAS Villains (could be 2 or 3 parts)
There are probably a couple I missed, but let's get all the choices out there so Doc Ock can make a choice.

Batman
Detective Comics
Shadow of the Bat
Legends of the Dark Knight
Robin
Nightwing
Batgirl
Birds of Prey
Gotham Central
Catwoman

Pick your favs and list them in here for me.I'll try and include as many of them as I can as I don't want too many contestants.
Mister J
04-29-2006, 08:19 AM
Grant Morrison
Denny O'Neill
Jeph Loeb
Chuck Dixon
Ed Brubaker
Doug Moench
Bob Kane/Bill Finger (not really sure how to separate there even though Kane primarily did the art)
Frank Miller
Mike Barr
Gardner Fox

Well we are down to the last two people for Round 9; O'Neil and Loeb.
What will be Round 10? Maybe we can try to do artist? Would be good like Round 9 cause it would be like Neal Adams and Jim Lee and someone else really good for the last 3 towards the end of the round.

05-07-2006, 09:51 AM
Favorite Batmobile is kind of hard. If we were to do that they would have to provide pictures for each one. Artists always draw different Batmobiles cause of their imagination of how they think the Batmobile should look. It is ok as long as we get pictures to judge by when we vote.
Mister J
05-07-2006, 10:08 AM
About a possible Batmobile round...
Tossing in a few comic versions could round the list out.
trustyside-kick
05-07-2006, 10:15 AM
Thanks for the link Mister J. Didn't notice it before. Ok, so if we did those 10 Batmobiles on this page (http://www.batmobilehistory.com/hush-batmobile.php), then I could see it working. But for some of them even with the description given would be best to provide a picture for each. And if you try to just use the picture in Hush then that would not be good because some are drawn at different angles so you cannot really tell what they look like.

Julie Madison
Silver St. Cloud
Vesper Fairchild
Vicki Vale
Talia al Ghul
Selina Kyle
Shondra Kinsolving
Kathy Kane
Sasha Bordeaux
Pamela Isley (I know...it's primarily phermone-induced, but there's some tension there and I needed a 10th.)

I think that's why Ock made the theme 'women in Batman's life'. Could toss in some choices like Babs or Cassie to switch it up a bit. Maybe even Diana.

I messaged Doc Ock about our little chat we had in Round 9 about the Graphic Novels. He said he would prefer to do the other rounds he had in mind first but said if majority wants to re-do the Graphic Novels (since never really ended) he would.
If we do do this I say look at Round 4 and see what the last 15 remaining storylines were and go from there instead of starting at 30 like before which made the round so long.

Maybe we should do Batman Gadgets for the next round. The gadgets round in the Spider-Man elimination game sucked but this will be different. Batman uses so many gadgets after all.
Has a supporting cast one been done? Like Gordon, Alfred, Luscious Fox, etc. I don't play the game, but I like to see the outcome.
Mister J
05-20-2006, 11:21 AM
Going off the Live Action Villains idea, there can be a separation (2 separate rounds) between the 60's TV show/1966 film villains and villains from the modern theatrical releases. There are more names that could be added to the 60's era villain list to get it to 10-15 choices. The modern movie villain list is already 10+. I'm not sure how many people would like a 60's villains round, but it's out there.

05-20-2006, 12:40 PM
Eh, no offense Mister J but I think a Live Action Villains round would be short and kind of boring for a round. It would be like the current X-Men elimination game round where I am just randomly voting.
Mister J
05-20-2006, 01:00 PM
I think Live Action might have a good pull of votes between Ra's, Catwoman and Joker. Maybe even Scarecrow and Penguin too. That's for the modern movies. 60's version might be less active though.
And don't just randomly vote in the X-Men game. Vote for Vindicator, man! :D

I'd like to pass the job of organizing the games to someone else, Mister J springs to mind, as he's been very helpful in the past.

trustyside-kick
06-25-2006, 01:47 AM
I'd love to really finish the Graphic Novels round...but if we were to do something new I would not really like the Class B characters from BTAS; perhaps if you had the list I might change my mind. Artists sounds interesting but I bet it would go down to Adams and Lee...even though I bet Adams would win in the long run but I bet it would be long.

We should do Joker versions. Out of all the characters in the Batman mythos, he' s probably 2nd to Batman in the amount of changes he's gotten.
There could be:
40's Joker
50's Joker
60's Joker (campy)
Cesar Romero Joker
70's Joker
80's Joker
90's Joker
B89 Joker
BTAS Joker
TNBA Joker

I'm thinkin either the Jokers or the Artists (preferably artists first), although my vote probably shouldn't count as much as others as my visits here are not too often. Though I do occasionally vote in the game.
trustyside-kick
06-30-2006, 12:38 AM
Hmm, never thought about different versions of Jokers. If we did do that I would know at least 3 or so that I would want to see at the end.
But really I think artists would be the best choice.
Mister J
06-30-2006, 11:28 AM
OK, looks like we'll do Artists next. I may pare down that list to 15, just to make it more manageable. Some of those guys are on that list because I had too much time on my hands. The next round will start tonight or early tomorrow (assuming the current one finishes today).
Good idea about the Joker incarnations. Maybe even some inclusions from graphic novel/TPB versions.
I was toying with separate rounds of best Batman and Joker individual stories (not graphic novels), but that might be too obscure.

Mister J

We had over 30 choices for Graphic Novels. By the time it got down to the last 2 or 3, there were too many points to distribute and it dragged on forever. After a while, we called it quits with the score something like, 186-124 for the last 2. Some posters who currently vote missed that round and expressed interest in having a do-over so to speak.

Thanks for the idea Mister J and Spidey-Bat about checking threads made by Doc Ock. I went through and here were the winners of each of the 13 games with the category names included:
Round 1 (Villains)- The Joker
Round 2 (Supporting Characters)- Cassandra Cain
Round 3 (Graphic Novels)- The Long Halloween
Round 4 (Batman interpretations)- BTAS
Round 5 (Batman costumes)- Batman Begins
Round 6 (Batman on screen)- BTAS
Round 7 (Villains Part 2)- Lady Shiva
Round 8 (BTAS Villains)- The Joker
Round 9 (Batman writers)- Denny O'Neil
Round 10 (Women of Batman)- Harley Quinn
Round 11 (Batman's Batmobiles)- BTAS
Round 12 (Live action Batman villains)- Liam Neeson
Round 13 (Batman artists)- Tim Sale
Perhaps we could play a round for which round was the best? Either based just from the category of the round or based from the outcome. What you guys think?
I love the idea for best BTAS episodes but here is just another future option. :)

How about doing story arcs? From say Crisis to Crisis (86-06). Have to be multiple issues, maybe just from Detective or Batman? Here's a short list.
Year One
10 Nights of the Beast
Death in the Family
A Lonely Place of Dying
Year 3
The Idiot Root
Knightfall
Knightsend
Prodigal
Cataclysm
No Man's Land
Officer Down
Bruce Wayne Murderer/Fugitive
Hush
Broken City
War Games
As the Crow Flies
Under The Hood
Year 2
Blind Justice
The Mud Pack
Destroyer
War Crimes
Contagion
Legacy
City Of Crime

Interesting, Fledermaus. My only concern is that it would be too similar to Graphic Novels/TPBs. However, there is enough of a difference in those respective themes to get it done. I'm liable to hold off on it for a while, but it's in the queue.

Yep. I'm going through some eps and looking at the list to try to make it as inclusive as possible.
Mister J
07-30-2006, 01:39 PM
What's the feeling if the TAS round were actually to be in three parts? There would be two shorter round of 15 eps, which would go until those lists got to 4. Then those remaining 8 eps would be in a final round. Too much effort or am I being delusional and should instead, stop my babble and go with 25?
I'm giving it thought to make the round more manageable instead of a cumbersome list of 25. Or does it matter?
trustyside-kick
07-30-2006, 02:43 PM
Sounds like you want to do what the X-Men games do. I don't hate the idea but then again I do not see the need for it. Personally, I liked the first few lists you made but meh.
Mister J

trustyside-kick
07-30-2006, 03:22 PM
Yea...even to non comic fans BTAS seems to me the most common thing to get people into Batman. I think 25 Episodes will be okay...now I know default is 10 pts starter but...ever consider 5 pts or something to start off since there could be 25 choices? Would only be 125 pts total versus 250 pts.
JTStarkiller
07-30-2006, 03:28 PM
Or maybe 7 or 8 points apiece. 25 is an awful lot of choices.
Mister J
07-30-2006, 03:39 PM
Good idea, guys. Reducing the points would work. 7 or 8 most likely, whcih would put it at either 175 or 200 (something manageable).
trustyside-kick
07-30-2006, 03:41 PM
Since there are 25 choices...out of the choices I think 7 pts starting would be best.
Now, when do we get to see the 25 Episodes Listed?
Mister J
07-30-2006, 03:55 PM
7 probably does work better because of the number of choices.
The 25 (as of now) are in post 155. The ones in red were what I was going to use if we went to using 30 choices (2 lists). I'm trying to get a decent representation of all the major villains (though it looks like no Ventiloquist & Scarface or Killer Croc) and will probably bump something off the list to include 'Avatar' (another Ra's ep). Comments on that?
I'm having a good time with this, going through old TAS eps. :D

Hellstormer had the idea to go with best Batman-related movie/season. Using seasons of B:TAS or BB would probably be a bit too ambiguous for most, but I do like the idea of a movies specific round.
Batman (1966)
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman Begins
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman: Subzero
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Batman/Superman Movie (World's Finest)

The underlined ones were included in the most recent GN/TPB round. The ones are red are ones I recognized from the original round. There are probably others, but I didn't bother to go through the rest of them.

Good list. We could easily get that down to 15. I'd like to get Fledermaus' input before we finalized it though. Doing 20 with reduced points isn't out of the question either.
As far as the Huntress story, I haven't read it in a while, but it was good. It gives me an idea in doing an extended Bat-family story arc round; ones that primarily focus on characters besides Batman.

The Cult
War On Crime
That's 16. If this is strictly story arcs then we'd have to knock off The Cult and War on Crime. Which sucks 'cause they're both great. I don't know. I appreciate you wanting my input Mister J, but I am one indecisive motherf**ker. So take what you want and run with it.

I've always wanted to read War Games and the rest of that 'lil saga' but I never got around to it because I know what happened. Also, when I tried to start reading a copy the introduction was just too boring for me to want to continue; someday I'll read it though so I know small details I didn't know before.

Okay, so I zapped War on Crime, which kinda sucks. However, that did give me an idea to do Best One-Shot (maybe even a Best Elseworlds tale). That book is too good to not be included in one of these rounds, so that's gotta happen.
I left in The Cult, because I know the two of you like it and I appreciate the help in compiling the list. None of the other arcs really screamed for inlcusion, with the exception of War Games, which I wanted to include specifically so I could vote against it.

See, that's why it's avant garde. You all won't appreciate it until I'm dead. Seeing as how I have a steady diet of ambrosia, that'll be quite some time. :star:

Hellstormer had the idea to go with best Batman-related movie/season. Using seasons of B:TAS or BB would probably be a bit too ambiguous for most, but I do like the idea of a movies specific round.
Batman (1966)
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman Begins
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman: Subzero
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Batman/Superman Movie (World's Finest)
The Batman vs. Dracula
I think that's all of them.

Final List, unless someone makes me a nice bribe.
Funny how Batman & Robin wasn't on there. Now that it is, it makes the first vote off alot easier. :o
Batman (1966)
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman Forever
Batman & Robin
Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero
Batman/Superman Movie (World's Finest)

On a more serious note, would JL: Secret Origins or JL: Starcrossed count?

Good movies, but not Batman-centric enough.
I prayed to a Bob Kane temple on this matter. True story.

I'm not really sure either the first thing that jumped to mind was liek Nighthawk from Squardoun Supreme, Midnighter ect. so not parodies just characters that are a lot like Batman.
Nighthawk (Squadron Supreme)
Mindnighter (Authority)
Night-watcher (Bang! Comics from Image I believe)
Yes I know Night-watcher shouldn't be hyphenated but SHH blocks out t-w-a-t. Can anyone think of some more?

Oh...well...I for one wouldn't wanna do that for a round then; but that is just me...I don't know about everyone else.
It would just result me in checking info on each of the candidates through wikipedia and voting for who I think looks the coolest or something dumb like that; and I hate doing that. :(

I'm going to go with another Past Elimination Round unless I get otherwise struck by the creative process ...or if I get struck by a truck or something, in which case, it'll be awhile before the next game.

What you mean another past elimination round? Like the first 2 of each game prior to it that was voted off first or something? lol.
EDIT: Actually...that would be an interesting game since you wouldn't be voting for what is necessarily the best because I mean they were voted off first in previous rounds. I like this idea. :D

Yep. Top two finishers from Rounds 6-10. There are a couple of other ideas we could try. The Elimination thing just seems like a better idea right now.
