Paul Molnar starred as the Joker in Patient J and recently got himself an audition for Batman Begins 2! Check him out on imdb!

Maybe you saw a different Patient J than I did. The one I saw had someone trying a lame Mark Hamill impression that would look immensely silly in a serious movie.

Huh? That was all there was to his performance. I'm sorry, I just don't see Joker speaking/acting like that (or looking like that for that matter) in a proper movie. It just didn't seem like a real person.

I agree, if Paul Molnar is Ebonics for Paul Bettany.
Mr. Socko

MY GAWD! He tried to sound like Mark Hamill and ended up sounding like an evil Michael Jackson.
His performance was pretty good for a fanfilm, it was actually great for a fanfilm. Yeah, he was a little cartoony, but a very evil type of cartoon character. His look was matched nearly perfectly with the comic book Joker but the nose was way too long and so was the chin, they looked really fake.
I agree, Joker shouldn't look like that in a blockbuster movie. More of a fanfilm look or even for a tv show.
There's no chance Paul Molnar will get the role, he should stick with Aaron [can't spell last name]

I dont know, with a filmography as respectable as this: http://imdb.com/name/nm1288012/ I may be tempted with Mr. Molnar.

Actor - filmography
Patient J (2005) .... The Joker
Intergalactic Idol (http://imdb.com/title/tt0443321/) (2003) .... Boba Fett
Aquanoids (http://imdb.com/title/tt0338726/) (2003) .... Aquanoid #1
LMAO!!!!!!

And Clark Bartram didn't get the job and never will. Like I say, Fanfilms and pro films are entirely different. Bartram did a decent job in Dead End but he would be terrible in a feature Batman film.

LOL, he's perfect. No one will know who he is. Talk about the exact opposite of a Nicholson

Same goes for Paul Molnar as the Joker.

04-23-2006, 02:01 PM
Molnar is a makeup and creature designer...stick with behind the camera stuff.
I don't even know if he's worthy enough of applying the makeup on The Joker, let alone be the Joker himself.

If Paul Molnar truly got an adition to be in BB2 (which I doubt) it should be to play meaningless cannon fodder, perhaps he could be the first victim we see of the Joker, oh the irony.....JOYGASM!

What you guys dont understand is that an actor has range, just because of what you saw in Patinet J, DOESNT mean that that is all Paul Molnar can do. He obviously impressed Nolan's team enough to land an audition. I mean hell, Bale is dancing and seeing in Newsies, but you dont see that in Batman. Plus the direction of Patient J was ment to be a direct version of the Joker from the comics, very animated, crazy, featuring all the moments of his career.

People people people - looks dont mean nearly as much as acting ability - look at Cilian Murphy. He was fantastic in beings, yet he look nothing like either Craine or Scarecrow. The same goes for Liam Neeson as Ras.

Paul has about as much credits as Brandon Routh and look who he is playing... Paul, like Chris Reeve is more involved with theater. Patient J is one hell of a performance and Paul's resemblance to the Joker is almost uncanny, plus he fits the age and height, being 31 and 6'4. Plus, he is related to the actor who played in "The Man Who Laughs" oddly enough.
Also, I dont think Nolan is just going to pick an actor and go with him, he is going to meet and audition many people untilk he finds who's right.

Go to the audition building when they're doing it and apply. It's probably going to be in Hollywood California. They usually post things like that on SHH(when auditions are held)

You have to admit, Molnar pulled off some crappy lines pretty well. I mean, PATIENT J had just abysmal writing compared to mose fanfilms.
But the man was clearly not imitating Mark Hamill, or he would have done a better "Mark Hamill". That was his own Joker interpretation, with bits and pieces of several Joker incarnations, none of which are identifiably Hamill's. Newsflash: The Joker was depicted as a laughing maniac YEARS before Hamill got ahold of the character.
And someone want to point out the "cartoon" in his performance to me and why that moment can't be applied to a more realistic version of The Joker, who is frequently depicted as being over the top and playful?
If Molossus says Molnar got an audition, I'm inclined to believe he did/will (as will many), though I wouldn't look for him to land the role in the Batman sequel.

why are you side-stepping the question about the audition? if you want to prove anything to fan-folks then you have to substantiate your claims.
the man could be a useless talent. not all actors have the range bale does and not all actors are cut out for roles like that. brandon routh is a rare exception i think... this sort of thing does not happen all the time with a great deal of success. it's a risky venture to cast an unknown of molnar's experience.

Exactly, while right now I am a fan of Bettany, I would like more then 3 people to audition for the role of Joker. There might be someone out there that is an unknown that could nail the part.
