View Full Version : Possible Major Spoilers

Not sure if anyone reads this Magazine, but I came across a new issue of Script at Boarders today with Brandon Routh on the cover. The writers mostly talked about their inspiration for the script, but there was some tidbits of info on certain things we may see in SR.

I won't quote the article since it's late but here are some big and/or small details you might find interesting.

If you don't want to be spoiled then turn away now:

1.The movie opens with a kid reading a Superman comic, talking about his origin and disappearance, as homage to the Action Comics opening of Donner's S:TM

2.The Kent Farm gets sold

3.Ma Kent seems to have moved on and is dating

4.One scene involves Superman has to saving both a shuttle and the plane that launched it at the same time

5.Another involves a Bank robbery where Superman gets shot, but his invulnerability is depicted with a bullet hitting his eye

The spoilers may not sound like the bigs ones we were expecting but at least we have something we know will be in the film and not just speculation.

These aren't major and I think most of these are already known!

#1. Not a spoiler but nice!

#2. Could be true

#3. Was confirmed last week!

#4. I think is wrong...the plane is the shuttle! That's what all the reports indicated that Virgin Atlantic was a new space shuttle for Commercial space travel!

#5. Singer stated this probably a year ago!

Thanks though! I was going to go to Borders tomorrow anyways...now I have 2 reasons! ;)

I didn't know about the Kent farm being sold, Superman having to save BOTH shuttle and plane, and him getting hit right in the eye!

I did know about Ma Kent moving on and figured out the comic book style opening from the blogs. I knew about the shooting scene with the gatling gun from the bank roof long ago, but not that he got shot in the eye.

Which issue of Script is it and is it a new photo on the cover?

I thought I had the new Script Magazine and it had Silent Hill "girl" on the cover?

Nope, you're totally wrong: Superman save both a shuttle (Explorer) and a plane (Boeing 777).

Yeah, the comic-opening has been pretty-much known for almost a year since th blog was released. The bullet-in-the-eye is something I've been wanting to see my whole life though. I really hope it's in the movie.

I don't remember anything about a plane and a shuttle, which is kick ass BTW. I could definitely be wrong here but I don't remember it! :(

Could you find a source then?

Both a plane and shuttle are going to be launched. The shuttle is piggybacked on top of the airplane and the shuttle is called Genesis.

Whether or not they both are being saved by Superman, I don't know.

I thought the shuttle made it, but it causes damage to the plane which has to be saved. But then again, why would the ****tle take off from a FLYING PLANE!?!

Y'know that does sound familiar. I assumed that the shuttle was unoccupied though. That it would just get them to the altitude needed for space travel or something and then dismantle. Good to know!

It is attached to the plane, that is not uncommon.

Its not a shuttle, its a newer high altitude/low orbit craft.

They need to be launched at speed and above a certain height (they lack the capacity to launch from the ground.)

Not sure, although Branson does have a cameo in the film so I assume its a Virgin craft Superman saves.

Actually, I am pretty sure that it was a post by Justin (Bluetights.net) who mentioned something about "demonstrating Supes' strength by shooting him in the most vulnerable part of the body".

Couldn't find the right thread on BT, but found some that reference it.

I figured it had to be Supes eye or genitals--ouch. That should be interesting to see. We'll just have to see the film--maybe the trailer?--to finally get that plane/shuttle thing straightened out. In real life it has its own custom-made jet to take it up. Having the spaceship attached to a plane would be different, but its no big deal. Saving a plane with dozens of people on it is more interesting.

Do we get to see Superman catch a bullet in his teeth?;) Cause that'd just be fun to see.

Yea, I was thinking of Terminator 3 just for the visual, but for Superman I'd want it to be so casual that you might miss it, you know, a non-chalant thing for him to do. Who knows what we'll see, but great sfx shots are guaranteed.

That is correct and merely a coincidence. I was told the shuttle is to be called Genesis. It's not gospel but it's what I was told. Take it for what you will.

Thanks for posting, Master, but as regards your thread title..."major spoilers"?
Does knowing Superman gets shot in the eye spoil anything?
I dunno, when I read "major spoilers" I'm thinking: Edward Norton is Tyler Durder, Kevin Spacey is Kaiser Soze and Bruce Willis is a ghost.
But that's just me.

I remember reading a looooooong way back, that When superman returns to earth parts of the Kent farm are ruined (could be true if the Kent Farm was sold at some point!)... And than we see Clark fix it up in superman style, which they said would look absolutely amazing on screen!... I dont know if this will happen, but it does make sense.

Recall reading that SR will be very demonstrative re. Superman's invulnerability. I'ld say a bullet bouncing of his eye would certainly do that.

Showtime
04-27-2006, 10:04 AM
I just don't really see how it anything but a cool visual, if it is true. We know he's invulnerable, so it has always included his eyes, nose, ears, mouth, throat, and toenail.

afan

To me it's a connect with the audience thing.

We all react to "things" near our eyes, it is our reflex to protect our eyes as they are extremely vulnerable. It's also an oft repeated methodology to take down a superior foe. Sort of a universal Achilles heal.

So a bullet ricocheting off Superman's eye drives home what it really means to be invulnerable.
