Setting Up Knightfall?

For those of you who have not read Knightfall allow me to explain; At the beginning of that Graphic Novel all the crazies are released from Arkham by Bane in his plan to wear Batman out the break him. So do you think Nolan could be setting it up, I think if he did it would interesting to see how it panned out. Here's how I'd do it...

As we all know Ra's Al Ghul broke everyone out of Arkham at the end of Batman Begins, so that's that bit done, we also have the rumour that Black Mask will be in the sequel. If this is so perhaps throughout the movie Batman is apprehending the inmates (Scarecrow, Joker, Zsasz, and Killer Croc) and even though the majority are easy to apprehend the rogue's gallery we know and love wear him out over time. Scarecrow, Joker and Zsasz wear him out mentally while Killer Croc and Black Mask do the physical fighting. At the end in a final showdown with Black Mask he's broken.

There could be a real good and dramatic ending scene where everything goes wrong for the heroes. Batman gets broken, Harvey get's scarred, Gordon is tortured and witnesses his family's murder at Joker's hands.

Thoughts? Ideas?

i think batman is going to be a little more original. he might use elements from several different story arcs. i suspect he will go mainly with 'the long halloween' and other looks at batman's early years, especially those involving dent.

i would love to hear him say in the sequel "i believe in Gotham"

I sure hope not yet, because id like for most of their own villans to get their own movies to set them up and then all get locked up in arkham only to get loose all over again by bane. That way we get the most out of the characters and the most out of the storyline.

True true, perhaps we have the next to sequels as based on The Long Halloween (I too want him to say "I believe in Gotham") and after that, hopefully Nolan will continue beyond a trilogy, we can see Bane and Knightfall

would that be the ending for the next film or the third? cuz if its the next than that would clutter the film on top of the rumors of plots and characters we have now. if he gets broken by bane after a year of activity (give or take), Batman doesnt sound so legendary. thats what attracted Bane to him in the first place (right?). and if its the third (assuming theyre ending at 3 films) you cant end with ALL the heroes losing.

i think for the next 2 movies no, i like the long halloween, then a two face movie after that. but maybe after those 2 it could work...love to see an azbat costume

Nah. There's no believable way to bring Batman back from having his SPINE broken.

However, I do agree that the end of BB sets up the possiblity of a whole crapload of crazies running around and Batman may be overextended trying to catch them.

Exactly. Just like BB was a conglomeration of elements from Year One, The Long Halloween, The Man Who Falls, etc. I'd have to say this seems to be Nolan's approach. :up:

I'd bet he will, or something very much like it. That was pretty much his theme in BB. "Gotham isn't beyond saving," etc. :up:

As I recall, Dick and Tim forcibly relieved Azrael of duty, and Batman got his spine back.

Yeah, well, as soon as the storyline started I knew there was no way it could end well. I actually stopped collecting the Batman books when Knightfall began. Like I said, I knew it couldn't end well. They broke Batman's back, any way they chose to fix that was gonna be ridiculous.
