My guess is that Supernova is the upgraded Red Tornado. It was stated in Wizard that he will be brought back more powerful than ever.

I going to say Superboy, with all the control over who has the rights to Superboy. THey killed him off, and bring him back with another name.

I think it would be too easy to make it Superboy...my guess is Supernova is Superman's powers personified now that they are removed from Kal El.

My guess is it's Superboy Prime in some form trying to atone for his past sins in IC - wearing a mask because the general public view SP as a villain (?)
Maybe?

It's kinda confusing - on that cover - the pic used on the newspaper makes him look like he has the build of an adult (kind of like an Alex Ross figure) and yet the illustration of him attempting to save Clark has him with the type of build Superboy has.
To keep us guessing I suppose.

The Question

it's Superman's powers personified
That doesn't make any sense. His powers come from his physical adaptations to survive on Krypton in Earth's atmosphere. How can organs, solar absorbtion cells, and super tough muscles be personified in a seperate entity?
GoldenAgeHero

How are a serum's effects on a human body personified in the form of the Sentry over at Marvel? They're comics. Superman is fighting some characters with reality-manipulating powers in IC, after all.
The Question

Okay, I'm mildly lost with the Sentry comment. Please elaborate.

it would be lame because it's to obvious, and red tornado is an android, supernova has got to be a being, one that's powerful enough to replace superman..and it has to be soem one were all gonna freak out when they tell us who it is, red tornado...thats just lame, or else they would say red tornado is upgraded:confused:

I just finished it. The Sentry to me is the most damaged comic character I have ever seen. I still don't know what direction hes going. Is he nuts or not? Its like they needed him to be flawed. I mean he broke the hulk or the void... oh wait the voids in the sun.... no wait this book is totally confusing.. jesus
I think its captain atom.
The Question
04-27-2006, 08:18 PM

Doesn't really matter. I still think having Supernova be Superman's powers made flesh is taking it a good deal too far.

Well, here's the deal with the Sentry, in case you were wondering:
The serum Robert Reynolds ingested actually transformed Reynolds into the Void, not the Sentry. He created the Sentry as a personality that could basically relieve the tension and balance out the evil he did as the Void. Eventually, Reynolds managed to split the Sentry off into his own body. So technically the man called Robert Reynolds is currently the Void and the Sentry is nothing more than a construct--a false man conjured up by Reynolds' schizophrenia and unbelievable power, basically.

The Sentry's not schizophrenic; Robert Reynolds is. The Sentry tossed the Void into the sun at the end of the mini, so the "bad" Reynolds is out of the picture for the time being.

it's been stated that someone who has been getting the job done without super powers will get some.
There's the theory I've read on here that Supernova is Supermans powers personified.
The earlier cover I posted shows Supernova as looking almost 'teenage' in build (which previously led me to believe it was Superboy Prime).
However, I've just had a thought, what if Robin somehow becomes host to those powers? He does have access to Connor's body.
??
TheCorpulent1

Robin's off with Batman and Nightwing for the entire missing year. Robin, Nightwing, and Batman have all confirmed this in their post-OYL comics. So they're all effectively out of play for the whole year.

Damn you just made sense out of it. I thought he made void and the sentry at the same time. I guess but, I think they didn't explain why the Sentry was talking to himself in the mirror. Also his powers in general seems to me he sounds like zoom just more powerful. I also don't like how it totally throws off what happened in new avengers its like they make the perfect character and then make him crazy. Whats the point in that?
And yet he is still on the avengers knowing this you would think they would get rid of him before they have another Wanda.
Thats the thing they don't know how to get rid of either of them. Sick isn't it. Of course is Sentry exist so will the void its been stated and its true.
Back to on topic. I still think its Captain Atom.

Doesn't make sense for it to be Red Tornado. The two gimmicks -- air elemental and supernova -- are far too different.
Don't think it'll be Captain Atom, either...I mean, why would he suddenly change his name and image without reason?
It'll most likely be a new character introduced in 52.

it's red-tornado, in the post IC quiz someone will be come the government's new secret weapon. the choices were:
1) cyborg-he's out cause already with the titans and was with them the wholetime.
2) red-tornado
3)john stewart/green lantern-i dont think he wants to follow orders anymore in gL rebirth he said he got a wakeup call, probably saying it's time for himtobe his own man . secondly it really wouldnt make sense for him to be the governments secret weapon.
which leaves red tornado is the ultimate possiblity. you bring up the powers issue, whos to say they didnt add any abilities to him or chnaged his powers. from what ive seen of him he can easily be taken apart and reassembled, the government probably found him and revamped his powers.

How would it not make sense for him to be the government's secret weapon? It'd set him closer to his JLU counterpart, who's more popular by A LOT. It's just as likely to be him as Red Tornado or Breach or anyone else based on what we've seen so far. Your unfounded assurances that Supernova is absolutely Red Tornado don't mean anything.
Also, Red Tornado's powers have nothing to do with his being an android, which he's really not to begin with. He's a tornado elemental from Rann. He just inhabits the android body, basically wearing it like you'd wear clothes, because it makes it easier for him to interact with everything. So, really, he's either got tornado powers AND whatever new powers the government would give him--and it doesn't seem like Supernova would have any tornado powers at all--or he's got new powers that don't include tornado powers, which would make him NOT Red Tornado.
