The only gripe i could find with Hairspray is Jimmy Marsden. he's too....eccentric in the movie. especially when they have the main actress dancing and then they show his reactions. it was like wow, he's a creepo.

I personally hope HD DVD wins because all my movies are standard DVDs and I heard that HD DVD players plays both formats (HD DVD and standard DVD).

I, too, obviously want HD DVD to win, but I feel obligated to let you know that both HD DVD and Blu-ray will not only play all your "old" DVDs, but they'll also all upconvert those DVDs to near-HD quality. :)

But that's not to say that there aren't many OTHER advantages of HD DVD over Blu-ray....because there are. ;)

I buy (almost) all of my HD DVDs off of Amazon. Not only can I get them MUCH cheaper on Amazon then I can at Circuit City (our discount is basically nothing), but that way I can guarantee that I'll be able to get any disc I want, and get it the day it comes out in the mail.

How awesome is the Blade Runner 5 Disc set?

Pretty good. The Final Cut was much better than the 92 Cut. And I'm going to get into the extras over the weekend. I just don't think I can watch the 82 American theatrical release, the international version, the 92 cut, and the Work Print version in 1 sitting.

And the car is pretty neat.

Import HD DVDs from all over the world. Since HD DVD is region-free, ANY HD DVD from ANY part of the world will work on ANY HD DVD player. And since the studios that release certain movies in the US are oftentimes different from the studios that release in other countries, that means that a lot of movies that are "Blu-ray only" over here are actually available on HD DVD in other countries. :) :up:
