Comedy movies can benefit with better video, audio, and special features just as well as any other. :)

I just can't stomach getting anything non-HD anymore. It's like getting used to contacts or glasses and then trying to walk around without them on afterwords...it just doesn't cut it for me anymore.

Agreed. I watch TV shows on my comp in 720p. You won't be able to turn back. The quality is far too superior.

I don't know. So far, nothing "superior" to Blu-Ray was announced.Blu-ray is too expensive, and quite frankly only "necessary" for a select few films. Many great films simply aren't meant to be viewed with eye popping visual clarity.

Indeed. And since my Ps3 upscales to 720p I don't buy any Blu-rays unless its a film that I really love.

I own the T2 Extreme DVD. I bought that at Wal-Mart a couple years ago for $7. I haven't really bothered with the special features on either the DVD or the Blu. That DVD looked good upconverted on my HDTV but the Blu does look better. The main thing was the upgrade in audio from Dolby Digital to DTS-HD. I previously did not even own T1 on DVD. I do have it on VHS but it's at my parents' house and I do not actually own a VHS player anymore. So the Blu is the first time I've owned it on disc and I was actually surprised that the picture quality is pretty good considering how old and low budget the movie is.

Picture quality isn't much of an improvement unless you sit close to the screen. I have a 46 inch screen and sit 12 feet away so the DVD looks pretty darn good in its own right.

Ah, yes it is confusing. A lot of the higher end stuff is pure marketing BS. My HDTV is a Sharp LCD 1080p that I got last year during Memorial Day weekend ironically enough. Best Buy was running a sale on it, $400 cheaper than normal so instead of $1800 I paid $1400 for it. It's a very nice TV.

It's almost depressing to think about the price though because you can buy the same TV for $400 cheaper this year:

It's amazing how fast the technology keeps improving and the prices keep dropping. That TV is a 60 Hz, they are now selling 120 Hz TV's for a similar price to what the 60 Hz TV's were selling last year when I got mine. Last year the 120 Hz TV's were pretty much brand new and cost a ridiculous amount of money. In fact, the 120 Hz version of the one in the link above is actually $100 cheaper right now than the 60 Hz version was last year when I bought it for $1400:
