I was over lurking at the DC message boards and someone posted Extracts from Morrison's Wizard interview:

"He's a very proud, determined and quite humorous guy-he's obviously seen the worst life has to offer, and he's got a really black sense of humor about it.I want to enter this character a lot more realistically:What would this guy actually be like, this millionaire kid who's built himself Batmobiles and Batplanes and has a cave. What the ***** would that guy be thinking?"

"Iwant to see Bruce waking up in bed with three supermodels, because Batman just thinks,'Well, that keeps me healthy and happy. That's good for the mission'"

Like i said in a previous post on another thread,Grant Morrison "gets" Batman. He know's what this character is all about. Not just Batman though,he also "gets" The Joker.

Now,on to the preview of issue #655:

The Joker:"I did it.I finally killed Batman. In front of a busload of vulnerable disabled kids!!!

This is why Morrison is my favourite comic writer. I love you Grant:(

I glanced at the Wizard preview for "Batman and Son"
From what I remember Batman and Son starts out with Gordon falling from a rooftop after being poisoned by the Joker. He is caught. Then a splash page of the Joker standing over a badly beaten Batman. The next thing I remember seeing is the Joker getting shot in the head by another Batman. The next page is Batman holding the Joker, a little reminiscent of Death in the Family. That's all I got.

This sounds good. I can't wait for Morrison to start his run. It's going to be great. That Joker line is really good too.

As it did mine. Morrison is going to absolutely rule the book when his arc begins, he's someone who understands the character. The Joker line was great as well, good find, nite-owl. Thanks for posting this, I honestly can't wait. Not to mention how Andy Kubert will be doing the pencils, his art is fantastic.

I just saw the preview pages and they looked great. I loved Jim Lee's Batman and Andy Kubert's is very similar.

Any guesses for who the other Batman is?

I suspect it will be Jason since he draws a gun on the Joker, but I hope not. First he imitates Nightwing and now Batman?

It could be someone else, but I wouldn't be suprised if it's Jason. When I was looking at the previews for the issue, one page shows Joker beating on the other Batman with a crowbar. We all know that was the same weapon he used to kill Jason, not to mention how Jason refers to Bruce as "father" when talking to Talia in the annual issue. Hence why the arc is called "Batman and Son," even though Morrison said he was bringing Ibn back into continuity.

Wait, when does this start?

July.

Wait, what?!?! He calls him father? That's just damn creepy! There turning him into an obsessed maniac. Wait, what if, when Bruce finds out about Ibn, Jason gets on a jealousy tip, and goes after him. Kidnaps him or something. Then in order to save the day, Batman needs help from Dick and Tim, his other "sons". Something tells me this is going to be alot deeper than I first thought. I can't f****n wait!

Well, Bruce is Jason's father. That's pretty much been established.

Jason just seems to want to mess with all they're minds though....I guess he just went on to Nightwing.

That preview.....wow. WOW. Morrison's writing in only about 4 or 5 pages has already outdone about 4 issues of Miller's writing. It's like that, for me atleast.

Btw...hope nobody minds If I use some of those Morrison quotes for my sig....those are just nice.

When did he say that? Does that mean the Kingdom Come related stuff is in continuity too? How about the Brotherhood of the Bat and League of Batmen stuff?

Fledermaus

Brotherhood of the Bat, League of Batmen, and Kingdom Come are all elseworlds, therefore, non-continuity. The Kingdom Come sequel, The Kingdom may be in continuity. Batman's son in Brotherhood and League name was Tallant, not Ibn. Did Morrison say "Ibn" by name or just that he was bringing back the child from "son of the demon" ?

But during Infnite Crisis things got changed again. Son of the Demon was also considered an elseworlds story.

It was in an interview he had months back, I'll get the link for you. All that was said was that he was bringing "Son of the Demon" back into continuity, I don't recall him mentioning the others you've asked which Fledermaus answered.

It's obvious they wanted him to be different. He wasn't named "Ibn" out of the ordinary, his name is arabic like Ra's' for "Son of the Bat."

Most people don't speak Arabic though, so it could be a tough one to pronounce.

I dunno....I guess I always expected Bruce's first born son to be named Bruce Wayne Jr. Or maybe even Tom Wayne, after his dad.

Don't you mean good ol English names???

I actually got that line from HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE, when Harold and Jumar get stopped by the cop for jay walking (wtf?) and he laughs, "What kind of name is that anyhow? Kumar? What is that five o's or two u's? Whatever happened to good 'ol American names, like Dave....or Steve?"

Kingdom Come and The Kingdom both depicted him as good and bad. In Kingdom Come he's found by the League of Assasins after Ra's has apparently died to be their newly found leader. Only to soon discover (because of flashbacks) that it was actually him who murdered Ra's. The Kingdom showed him having a relationship with Nightstar (Nightwing and Starfire's daughter) who he thanks for being there at his side, so that he never ended up being "him." Whether it was Ra's or Bruce he was refering to was never revealed.

You should really read The Kingdom. His portrayal is awesome. Just imagine a combo of Batman and Ra's intellect, Ra's ruthless do or die approach, yet still a sense of compassion like Bruce. He is overally a good guy. However, he's done some things............ yeah........ that Bruce kinda wouldn't do. Like killing his grandfather (which was disturbingly satisfying after watching his upbringing). And I think his name won't have that much of an effect on the readers. Hell, there are still debates over how to say Ra's' name. I can't believe I didn't get that White Castle reference! Oh, and hey Batman, where the hell were you when I started that review thread on The Kingdom,:thing: hmm? I got like two replies. One of them was me:( .................................:p

The Kingdom had two main books and several individual books. One of them was called Son of the Bat and that's the story he's talking about. You can read up on the history if the chracter here.

BTW, here's some interesting info from that article...

In Teen Titans v3 #18, when the Titans were transported 10 years into the future, a graveyard full of deceased Batman allies and villains is depicted. One tombstone reads "Ibn Al Xu'ffasch". It is unknown whether this means that he is truly in continuity with the DC universe.
