YAY! exactly like the last 5 versions.

Is Madden not going to announce again in favor of stupid local redneck announcers again? Are they still keeping out all the features so they can "rebuild"? Oh well, at least this year they aren't showing fake screen shots and are just admitting that the graphics are no where near what the next generation should be.

When were they planning to drop the "Madden" name again?

I hated 06 for the 360. I haven't played it in 9 years.

I'm pretty excited for the Wii version. All the others most likely won't have enough of an update for me. Madden '04 was great, '05 was decent... '06 was crap, specially for 360. I know it was rushed, but I came to a conclusion. Even if the game was rushed, it woulda looked maybe slightly better (if at all), with a few more features I'd probably never play with.

At least the Wii version will be bringing something new to the table. I'm all for something new.

I always get excited about Madden. Sometimes I hold off on purchasing it to see how it stacks up against the previous version, but more often that not, I pick it up. It sucks that EA basically sucked the life out of all other competition though (damn exclusivity agreement).

The real question about this year's Madden is whether or not Shawn Alexander is screwed by being on the cover.

Im looking forward to Madden. I always do. Last year was a dissapointment, ill be the first to admit that. Thats also why im slightly nervous about this years game. Im confident that EA will put back all the missing features that were absent from last years game, but that doesnt mean it will be good. I think there are some key animation and gameplay aspects that need fixing. For one, the running animations HAVE to be improved, they were horrible last year, running the ball felt wayyy to stiff. EA has the ability to make a great football game for the Xbox 360, they just need to refine certain aspects of ther game.

But why put in the extra effort when you don't have to. That's how EA thinks. :o

Yea if Madden 07(360) is like Madden 06(360), then im gonna have to agree with you.

i hate madden. it's what can tear friendships apart.

i lost a controller to madden and nearly lost a best friend because he played it for 10 hours a day and acted like a douche bag when i played him.

LOL......IT KILLS ME HOW PEOPLE THINK THE 'PS3' WILL JUST MAGICALLY HAVE BETTER LOOKING GAMES, THAT ARE CROSS-PLATFORM. 'EA' ISN'T GOING TO EXPEND ANY ENERGY TRYING TO UNLOCK SOME "HIDDEN POWERS" THAT THE 'PS3' MAY HAVE (BUT LIKELY DOESN'T), TO ENHANCE THE GRAPHICS, WHEN THE DIFFERENCE WOULDN'T BE DISCERNABLE.

It would make more sense if Hines Ward was on the box.....I understand that Alexander was the "NFL MVP" but that's two years in a row that the losers of the Super Bowl get the cover.

Hines Ward goes to Disney World, Shawn Alexander gets to be on the cover of a sub-par Football game that fell from grace years ago.

...Ok, now it DOES make sense.

NOT REALLY, BECAUSE THEY NEVER USE THE 'SUPER BOWL' MVP FOR THE COVER; IT'S GENERALLY THE LEAGUE MVP. BESIDES, THEY SAID ALEXANDER WAS PERFECT, SINCE THEY PUT AN EMPHASIS ON IMPROVING THE RUNNING GAME THIS TIME AROUND.

BUT PEYTON ISN'T A RUNNING BACK; LIKE I SAID, THEY WANTED SOMEONE TO REPRESENT THEIR NEW EMPHASIS ON THE RUNNING GAME. :o

I didn't say anything about him being on the cover. There was a point of contention in regards to who was the last MVP before Shaun Alexander.

O.K., GOTCHA.

BUT, LIKE I SAID, THEY GENERALLY GO FOR THE MVP, BUT THEY'RE ALSO USUALLY A YEAR BEHIND, BECAUSE OF THE TIMING OF THE GAME RELEASES.

Mister J
05-02-2006, 01:14 PM
No worries. I was actually surprised they made a big production about who was gonna being ont he cover (having it on SportsCenter and all).

Where'd you hear the stuff about the emphasis on the running game?

THE OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.

Mister J
05-02-2006, 01:25 PM
Thanx THWIP*. I just checked the announcement out.

I wonder how that'll factor into the gameplay. Maybe an improved play action form or wearing your opponent down over the course of the game with a strong running attack.

New info from this month's GamePro:

The PS2 and XBOX: Super Star Dreams
For current generation systems, EA Sports hoes that Super star mode makes all-pro this year. It remains a current gen-only feature, and it's undergoing a radical retooling. "When youre playing SS mode this year, it's not going to feel like anything else in Madden", "You're going to feel like youre actually playing a position in pro football.

Also Vision and Precision passing will be relegated to the bench.

Truck stick is now being called the "highlight stick".

On PS3 and X360 EA is taking Madden back to basics..

Your team will began in minicamp and mini camp will consist of 40 year dashes and such.

Also EA is making a hall of fame for online players.

Wow, 40 year dashes, thats some serious running, haha. Man when u say back to basics, i hope to hell its not as basic as last year, i at least want all the features from previous yrs back in, ie: create a player, edit a player, mini camps, all that.

Wow, EA is dumb. Why wouldn't they put SuperStar mode on the 360/PS3/Wii? It makes ZERO sense to have the "lesser" game be on the next gen systems.

ProjectPat2280
05-02-2006, 06:27 PM
The way i look at it, is EA is just starting off fresh. Instead of porting current gen to next gen, they just started over, and thats why Madden 360 was so 'bleak' last year. I mean compare Madden 2001 to Madden 2006, there was a big gap in overall gameplay, the game really evolved for teh best(for the most part). Im guessing thats what is happeing with next-gen Madden. I just want a good Madden 360 this year, please.

Actually... EA is going to have a SS mode in the next-gen versions. Maybe with more dynamic features.

Because they put superstars on the cover and the Steelers don't really have one.

ProjectPat2280

Haha, yea he does. I wouldnt worry so much about those screen shots tho. Last yr they had a picture of Mike Minter, S for the Carolina Panthers, and well he was white(Minter is black), but of course by the games release it was fixed. Those shots are more for telling u who went where in the 1st round.

The only hype I saw leading up to the superbowl was Alexander and Bettis.

Wow, there really is a HUGE gap in graphics from current to next gen. You can really see it in those Alexander pics. The article on IGN was pretty cool, but unfortuantly, it seems that we are still getting that lame announcer. I want some damn ESPN integration. I at least hope they fixed the running animations.

Two things: I want to see some shots in there of the Chiefs, but that's because I'm obsessed with the Chiefs.

Also, I miss the NFL 2K games (damn you, exclusive liscence!). Will you be able to build a custom all-star team in this, like in the last 2K game? Cuz that would make me happy.
