Jack Black as Green Lantern???

Ok, I have only recently heard these rumors, and for a while I thought it was just a joke.....until I looked around on the internet. Aparently he IS actualy being considered for the part from everything I have seen and read. I don't have any real idea wether or not this is true, and I couldn't have imagined him playing this part at all until I thought about it. But in actuality the only thing that would stop him from being a good lantern is his body type. But if he lost some weight, toned up a bit, and threw on a reeeeeeealy cool costume that only Hollywood could aford.......I think he could pull it of nicely :D

So now I would like to know what you, my fellow members of the Hype think, and have to say on this issue.

Aswell, all Jack Black/Green Lantern Manips would greatly be apreciated here! :)

This news is atleast 100 years old. Black himself said he had a meeting about it, but it came to nothing.

WB isn't offering Black the role any longer. To stretch this topic out a year after it had been debunked is pointless and does nothing put pander to hysterics.

Oh come on, lighten up :) as we all lnow ANYTHING is possible in Hollywood, I mean for christ sakes an unkown soap actor wearing a bad costume is playing Superman, why couldn't Jack play the Lantern? If they did it comicly, gave him a cool costume, and wrote a good script, we could be in buisness. not to mention the fact that we all know how Hollywood thows a little info our way, pulls it back, and throws it out again. I mean look at Spider-Man 3!!!!

They want to do a Bruce Almighty-styled GL story. It's the only GL movie we're gonna get this decade. Let Jack Black play Charlie Vickers, lets have some laughs in the late fall, cuz we're not gonna get a sci-fi-epic GL movie in the same summer as Singerman 2, Batman Continues and Whedon Woman. The only humor this movie would need would be a "grow that back" type comment, so I don't think Black would fit. But if he has to be in it to make it move, I say shave his head, paint him blue, put on little white sidehair and make him be from Oa.

And come on. Green Lantern is a very silly concept in and of itself. A guy who can make anything he imagines out of green lights whose worst enemy is a guy named "Sinestro" who has pinkish purple skin and a head straight out of an old SNL sketch and whose greatest weakness is to the color yellow...?

I can understand why WB would want to take a comedy approach with this franchise. It would be really hard to get general audiences to take it seriously.

It'll be a disgrace if they go through with it, which is why I'm praying this is only a rumor. Comic Book Movies get a bad rap now, and if this happens, they would never be taken seriously again.

Please, if Green Lantern gets made as a movie as he exists in the comics, it'd be hard to take superhero films seriously ever again. Some superheroes just aren't up for mass public consumption.
