Is Superman now the fastest person in the DCU

Well untill Walley comes back Jay says he is only as fast as the speed of sound. So my question is Superman well before the crisis use to be faster then that if he still is does that make him the fastest person in the DCU.

Can someone show me where exactly it was stated that Captain Marvel was faster than Superman? Marvel has the speed of Mercury/Hermes, same as Wonder Woman, and that Superman is faster than Mercury/Hermes.

Currently Superman has just rediscovered his powers and has been downgraded a bit, but before his downgrade he was consistently nearing light speed travel.

Actually, from what I've seen, Superman can only barely break the sound barrier while running these days. And, since he's gotten his powers back, whatever it is in him that allows him to fly hasn't woken up yet, so he's stuck to running and leaping.

Superman also outraced the new Bloodsport's bullet, which had a good head start on him, so he's faster than sound at the moment. Almost definitely not at full speed yet, but still pretty fast.

I agree with BrainWilly. CM powers I would say are closer to Wonderwoman's then they are to Superman's. Wonderwoman had the speed of Hermes and Superman is faster then her. I think that Superman is the fastest now especially if he does not hold back any of his speed. He used to race neck and neck with the Flash (Barry Allen). Captain Marvels powers are overrated. He is close but not on Superman's level. Supes is the fastest.

I read a JLA comic recently, I think it was Terra Incognita, and it said that the speed of Hermes was currently Mach 3. I'm pretty sure that's 3X the speed of sound. If you think about it, that's how fast an SR-71 goes. How much faster than that is Superman?

Hermes has ****ty speed. Superman was stated not too long ago to have a top speed of about 140,000 miles per second. That's just shy of the speed of light. But there's contradictory evidence all over, as with everything in comics. In one Superman comic I read, he's trapped in this weird in-between dimension with this alien from yet another dimension, and he says he's pushing himself beyond the speed of light to get out.

I don't know. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. I remember reading that somewhere and thinking it made sense, since the speed of light is 186,000 mps and Superman's generally slower than Wally, who tops out around light-speed (though there are contradictions to that, too).

Zoom can't be the fastest, because he just manipulates time, he isn't actually fast.
Ion manipulates the t/s continuum so I would think he isn't really fast.
WonderWoman has been shown to be slower than Supes

No idea, but he lived up to his tagline and outraced a speeding bullet to save Jimmy. I don't remember what kind of gun the bullet was fired from, but most modern guns fire bullets a lot faster than the speed of sound.
