It actually reminds me a ton of TFTM: Scourge, the one I posted (who is among my all time favorite characters). However if they gave him a normal head that design would rock...I mean he is f---ing scary, and he looks like a threatening menacing character as well.

Question:

If you were a member of an evil race of alien robots crash landed on earth, and you wanted to cause some chaos, destruction and war-mongering, would you adopt the shape and form of the native beings of that planet?

I personally would take on a form that was menacing, one that would strike fear into the puny humans. Something monstrous and evil, but would still enable me to be able to adapt to the Earth's varied environment and gravity.

This design certainly fits that description.

I believe Starscream will be mostly grey or silver or silver-blue with darker blue accents on his robot parts. Maybe just a few small bits of red here and there for recognition purposes (such as around his neck or arms).

That would fit in with him being the Stealth plane they are using, the red parts could be infrared controls from the cockpit

well...they DID say the robots would look clunkier and more rigid than we're used to...

I think he was posting that for the sake of Starscream's body design...not the colors and pose.

Regardless;

I wouldn't use that Starscream, less colors would be a good thing. If you ask me, i'd rather him just be the color of the jet form he uses, for the movie. Was it an f-22 raptor?

I do not agree... come on... if a large plane landed in front of you, then transformed into a huge robot with guns from his arms and pointed them right at you, dont you think that is menacing enough?

I hope that they do not screw with the characters looks too much. I want to see them portrayed as close to the original as possible. Already upset that Bumblebee is going to be a Camaro... dam them!

Ok, now I'm not one to pick apart things, but they really need to stick to the basic Transformers design...otherwise it's not really Transformers at all. That's one thing I would be kinda upset about, if they went for a very bio organic look like in those pictures....no sir. It just wouldn't be transformers, it would be "transforming robots," the motion picture. Please let it not be anything even close to this in the final product.

I just wanna say that I've been a Transformer junkie since...well, since they first came out. I say the following with the upmost sincerity and respect for the franchise:

That concept looks absolutely atrocious. As a matter of fact, this whole movie is starting to sound atrocious. Is this a bad joke? We are not getting THE TRANSFORMERS. We are getting robots that can transform.

I know it's still early in the game, but c'mon. So far we have no talking Bumblebee? Not only does he not talk , but he's a 2008 Camaro? WTF. Couldn't come up with a modern small car that would better suit Bumblebee.

A 4 foot soundwave? Megatron, a Cybertronian jet? Screen time and dialogue for transformers = minimal? Humans seem to be the major role players in the movie. The title of the movie is THE TRANSFORMERS, right? And now this artist's impression.

I guess to Dreamworks, Bay and company THE TRANSFORMERS means they can transform this franchise into a pile of turd. So far that's what it sounds like. The road ahead does not seem bright.

I hope for the best, but I most certaintly expect the worst. :(

I wholeheartedly concur. I'm not a "die hard" fan nor do I think this need be an EXACT replica of the original. But sooooo many changes just seem NEEDLESS.... but the creators seem to be able to justify every single change. Tim Burton (and Nolan for that matter) could have EASILY said for Batman, "look, an afterburner on a car is just corny. I'm not doing it." But, no, they did it and they made believable and cool.

Reimaginer: VW didn't give the go ahead.
Faithful: But then why not a mini-cooper or some other small sporty car?
Reimaginer: Camaro is cooler.
Faithful:: But Bumblebee was the slowest Autobot... the little-bot-that could. This was part of the story. His whole reason for existing in the lore.
Reimaginer: This is a new cooler Transformers.
Faithful: Sigh.

Reimaginer: Flat nose trucks are outdated... this ain't the 70's.
Faithful: Really? How about this: http://www.freightlinertrucks.com/trucks/find-by-model/Argosy/ sounds pretty modern to me. And besides even if they're not that common in the USA anymore, aren't they ubiquitous in Europe and other population dense areas?
Reimaginer: This is a new cooler Transformers.

Same goes for the idiotic "Quest for the Artifact" plot rather than the topical environmental and energy-crisis issue laden original plot... you know times are tough when a cartoon from 1984 has a more INTELLIGENT plot than a movie in 2006.

I won't even get into them being nanobots that can choose their alt-modes and other retarded stuff like that.

It's like the writers got together and said "just how much of this crap cartoon can we change and still call it Transformers." The Answer is apparently EVERYTHING, but their names.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on some of that CFlash. As much as I was fine with the vehicles changing from what they were in the original cartoons to entirely different vehicles, the idea that they're going to change the design of the robots is just....cringe worthy.

I really hope the Transformers look nothing like this, otherwise we'll just be getting "Beast Machines" the movie.

I don't see why someone would feel any different about this than any other of the gazillion changes being made. Why is changing their robotic appearance any different than TOTALLY changing their Vehicle appearance??? I mean, isn't a Transformer's alt-mode a reflection of their personality or abilities... if you can make Bumblebee a Camaro (a far-out polar opposite to his original incarnation).... why not this???

What's the big deal?

P.S.
I just walked by a parked shiny new Beetle and I just had a sunken feeling in my heart. What was funny is that there was a sporty hatchback (Scion I think) right in front of it. And across the street there was a mini-cooper. Maybe its because I live in NYC... but I didn't see a single hot-rod in my 15 block walk (save for maybe an old Saturn SC... which isn't really a hot-rod). Michael Bay needs to leave California for a minute and check out the rest of the world.

There's only two things in this movie I care about. Ok, three.

1) They have to have the same deep relationships amongst each other. Not just big robots...but have human characteristics like the show. It shouldn't be about the humans as much as it should be about the Autobots and the Decepticons and their personalities towards each other.

2) The voices needed to sound at least close to the same.

3) They need to look SIMILAR to their cartoon counterparts.

If they follow those rules...i'm totally fine with anything else.

Hopefully they could just paint the F-22 with the Starscream colors and it will be perfect.

That colour and design reminds me more of Thrust.

Nathan:

I know everyone has their own opinion but the pics you posted is not 'G1'Megatron. Bay said hmslef that this movie is based on G1 charcater, ppl seem to be forgetting that.He should look like this:
http://cs.georgefox.edu/~aliljen/transformers/images/megatron.gif

...he doesn't have to be a gun but anything that strays too far from his G1 design in 'color or his traditional head design' is Megatron in name only. Bay promised us that thaey are base off of G1 yet he seems to be breaking his promises as thing go along.....

Bay never actually promised G1. He and Don Murphy said that they'd take elements from G1, and Don Murphy said he wanted to know what G1 fans wanted and that he'd try to put in many things the G1'ers would like if he could.
