My favorite Ultimate character is Doc Ock.He just kicks all kinds of ass.Best Ultimate Spidey villain IMO.
My least favorite Ultimate character is Carnage.Complete abomination of the 616 character.
Kraven

My favorite Ultimate character would be either Doc Ock or GG, it's pretty close, probably a tie. (almost exactly like my 616 favorites)
My least favorite would probably be Carnage, because he just isn't as cool as the 616 one, or Kraven, because he seems like a wimp.

Norman Osborn

Not a big fan of steroid Gobby in USM so I'd have to go with Ock as my fav and Carnage as my least fav...Is there even going to be an Ultimate Kletus?

Favorite: Spider-Man. Still pure and untouched by organics and stupid Spider-God crap.
Least Favorite: Black Ben Reilly. All hopes to see a Ben Reilly has we know him are gone.

favourite Ultimate character was Gwen stacey by a long shot.
Favourite ULtimate Villain is Norman osborn although spideys best bouts have been both encounters with Ock.
ultimate symbiotes are really poor and i don't like anyone in the bugle, that part of spidey's life is quite poorly done to be fair but i guess it's only part time work.

Favorite-apart From Spidey Himself-is Doc Ock. Love, Love, Love What They've Done With Him.
Least Favorite Is Kraven. They Took A Mediocre Character & Made Him Lame. I Don't Care For Either Carnage, So The Ultimate Version Didn't Bother Me. But I'm Not Thrilled W/the Hobgoblin Storyline, Either. He Looked Like Etrigan.

Favorite: Doc Ock. Bendis has done a great job in translating all the menace and arrogance to the Ultimate version, imo.
Least Favorite: The Goblins, both Green AND Hob. I fell in love with USM with the very first issue, and subsequent issues delivered as well...right until the Goblin's first appearance. WAY too much like The Hulk. What a disapointment.
Looking forward to Ultimate Morbius.

Favorite: Doc Ock. Although the Kingpin is a close second.
Least Favorite: Carnage. Both the character & story sucked donkey nuts, IMO :down

for those who have voted spidey, why so?
his character is pretty much the same. he's the least altered ultimate character of them all i feel.

He's back to basics; no stingers, no sidekick suit, no clones, no Avengers tower.

people have been saying this way way way before any of the recent relevations going on in 616 spidey.
and by being back to basis, he's in no way ultimate, heck the normal timeline spidey is more 'ultimate' than ultimate spidey.
he's by far the least affected member of that universe. the only difference is that radiation has been changed to OZ and that's pretty much all i can see.
except for perhaps dealing with incredibly dangerous beings with relative ease at such a young age.

Those are the only differences.
Stingers, clones and crappy costumes are irrelevant. We're talking about the real 616 Spidey compared with Ultimate Spidey. And there really is no major differences between the two other than the age and origin of powers.
Btw I.R. Venom, you should get a moderator to move this thread into the Spidey comics forum. You'll probably get more replies in there as this is a comic based question.

so where is the 'Utimate' part?
granted he was the first character to make the shift but i alway feel that when presenting spidey in a new way, people are always playing it straight, especially with his costume
everyone except spidey has had something altered (maybe you can count professor x's costume) to their general gear (maybe you can count daredevil as well) and outlook.
in the movies, all marvel characters have had the looks altered except for spidey.
i can only think of one exception in spiderman unlimited when peter parkers base costume has been altered.
It's as if the writers are kinda scared to do anything with him (which is funny considering how much they've messed with him in his real life comic timeline).
or is the ultimate universe supposed to be seen completely through the eyes of a relative parker we can all relate to, a kinda 'normality' in a chaotic alternate universe?

The Answer To Your Closing Question Is Yes; As For Not Messing With The Costume, As You Pointed Out, They've Done It Aplenty In The Regular Continuity; Often To The Detrement Of The Book. Why Follow Someone Else's Mistakes? I Doubt We'll Ever See The Electric Superman Or The Azrael Batman, Or The Grey Metal Daredevil Revisited.

LOL, let's hope not!
But you know what? Sometimes it works. Sub-Mariner, for example. Even as a youngster i liked his "black wet-suit" way better than his green speedo.
And i always dug it when they gave Thor a beard and armor. I mean, what self respecting Norseman over the age of 18 DOESN'T grow a beard?

That's true. Both examples you gave are good ones. But many are not. Like the oh-so-brilliant idea to put Batman in blue. Then, by contrast, you have the idea to cover Robin's legs. And pretty much every suit Iron Man has worn has been an improvement over the original. So, yeah, there are exceptions.

Ah, but remember; Loki was an adopted Frost Giant with stunted growth. (seriously).

My username would seem to suggest Venom...and while it's true that he's one of the best transitions, the be-all, end-all for me is ULTIMATE PETER BENJAMIN PARKER.
In my opinion, Spider-Man was always at his best in his younger years. He was new at the costumed crimefighting and it was harder to keep that identity secret. Ultimate Spider-Man really personifies these traits in the character. Not to mention that his mouth is bigger and smarter, and he never runs out of things to say. His inner monologues ARE Spider-Man, I don't care what anyone says...
Worst? Is there a worst? Perhaps Demogoblin? Who the hell thought that MJ + Goblin = Good idea!?!
Venom 1988

Favorite- Doc Ock. Despite his newfound powers in the clone saga, hes been pretty damn good villain.
Least Favorite- Shocker(though Carnage comes close)
Bendis raped Shocker, simple as that. And for some reason afterwards people started to think that 616 Shocker is a wimp just like Ultimate counter-part.
