I think they should end this seires with spiderman 3, they start over with a venom spin off (or do some alternet time spidey storys) with a whole new cast, Jack G, would make a great peter,(I heard rumor around jack being on call if tobey pull out on SM2) I kinda like Topher, if he was a biger name at the time I think he would of been casted instead of Tobey. as for him as Eddie, he's probably going to be ultermate spidey Eddie. It seem like (to me anyway) that the new cast members,l Topher and Bryce, would of made a good Peter and MJ, its like their tring to recasted with out recasting.

I think that Tobey will be back for another one after SM3. No matter what anybody says, the Spider-man movies are too much of a hit and a money maker for Sony to just let the series end here. And they'll be laying out a fat check to Tobey to return...one which he won't resist.

as far as i knew Tobey was willing to continue as long as Sam Raimi directed. And Raimi would still direct if Tobey starred and if he was still interested in developing the character.

It's time to move on with the cast... I don't know why people can't accept this... 6 SM movies means two trilogies... so why not lock up an entirely new cast of core characters for three more instead of even more speculation after every upcoming sequel about who will return and what not... don't want to see this turning into another Harry Potter where we don't know who is coming and going after every sequel... Jake is a good choice because he is still young... I'm sure another actress could step in and fill in nicely as MJ if she isn't already killed off... I really never liked the casting to begin with... (except for J.K Simmons)... but I think we need a fresh start to open up the Venom series... I'm sure Topher and Bryce would come back for one more... what we all would have liked to see was SM3/4 filmed back to back with that being the end of it... but since that is out the door... recast them... (6 movies just beats it to death though...)

Jake G. is a lame LAME spider-man. Not because of the whole brokeback mountain thing, either. That was an acting role. Lots of actors play things that they aren't in real life (though I don't even know if he is or not).

That aside, I just don't see this guy being Peter Parker.

The thing is... he was the logical choice in SM2 if Tobey couldn't go... he had a relationship with Dunsts and would have filled in...although who knows what the result may have been... maybe they can find someone else... who knows... I just want them to go young... I mean Tobey will be in his mid to late thirties pushing forty for christ sake (by the time production begins on SM4) Get a guy around 26 and an MJ around 25 to keep the franchise fresh... I'm sure there are a lot of guys out there anyways...

Well Tobey can at least stay for SM4. It's just that I can't see another actor playin' Spidey/Peter. It's like Young Guns, Billy the Kid is Emilio Estevez, and that's it.

You only say this because you are used to Tobey by now... recasting isn't always a bad thing... it's just where I stand... I'd rather lock up an entirely new cast for three more films instead of speculation after every sequel... they don't want to finish at SM4 so recasting is the logical decision.

It's all about money. As long as the movies do good then Sony will still be coming out with them. Oh and a lot of peole love Tobey Maguire as Spidey so I highly doubt they would let him go. The only way I see him going is if he just decided to leave which I don't think will happen.

As for Tobey's age, I really don't think that will be a problem because he still doesn't look that old and the movies might be timed out to help him. I mean they're not going to keep spidey in his early twenties forever. Besides, Tobey still has that young face.

Tobey is a great actor. I don't know if you realize this but he was in some really amazing movies like The Cider House Rules, Wonder Boys, Cats and Dogs, and Pleasantville. He was also an executive producer in Seabiscuit. He's been in at ton of movies but I only listed a few. If you really don't like him as Peter Parker then I suggest you just look at the script.

Speaking of action and medication, I think you need to have your Enzyte (if you don't know what that is, do a search for it. You'll find out REAL fast) refilled. Only problem is it may adversly effect you other medications. You may have to choose which pills to take. But personally, I don't think you have the mental capacity...

He plays the EXACT same role in every damn movie! The same quite, dopey introvert every single time! His Peter Parker is the same guy from Wonder Boys. It's pathetic!

You want to see real acting watch a chameleon like Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks.

Maguire plays spiderman the way he does, because thats the type of character the script calls for. And I also don't agree that he plays the same type of character in all his movies. In my opinion he is a very under appreciated actor, and I hope he doesn't get type-cast later in his life as that guy who did all the spiderman films. He was a great actor before he ever put on the spidey suit and he will be a great actor long after he takes it off. He brings a great personality to the spiderman role. And he may play a quiet dopey role in Spiderman, because thats the type of character peter parker is. If you think toby maguire is so bad, I challenge you to name another actor that is as dynamic and could do as good of a job in the role. When watching both spiderman films you really feel like he has the weight of the whole world on his shoulders...thats not an easy role to pull off!!! And I also heard you talking of criticisms with both spiderman films, and I have this to say. Yes there are always improvements that can be made to all great superhero action films, but you have to be reasonable to some point. Yes the spiderman films weren't perfect, but compared to the many other underwhelming lame superhero movies released in recent years....Spiderman is by far one of the elite films of the genre. I would easily site the spiderman films along with batman, batman begins, and the 1st two x-men films to be amoung the best superhero films made in the last 10-15 years. Are you opposed to Sam Raimi's direction with the spiderman films, and why? I think that he has a great vision for the spiderman universe and it's characters. I'm also curious...if you are opposed to the spiderman films, then what are some of your favorite superhero movies, that you felt were done right?

I'm almost positive that he only signed on for 3. Though I hope they get him back for a 4th. Not all of the original 4 superman films were all great, but at least Christopher Reeve was in all 4. When a good character is established, people want to see that character always play the role, and getting a sense of continuity. Anyway, I think Tobey would return for a 4th if they pay him like 40-50 million. Worst case...I just hope we don't end up like the Batman movies with a new actor playing spidey each film.

Thats exactly what I mean. Bale played an amazing batman, and I hope he is here to stay and comes back for many more. Just don't keep changing out the role each time. I was blown away by Bale's performance, so I'll be disapointed it he doesn't return.

I think after threee films to general audiences Tobey Maguire IS Spider-Man. If he's done after 3, the franchise (at least for 15-20 years) is done. Besides if we changed directors and leads, we all know what that leads to.

And Maguire nails Parker. His Spider-Man isn't the best on jokes, but when he is allowed to say jokes he delivers them decently enough and as the video games display he can be a wisecracking jackass. It is Raimi who (for better or worse) has jokes written in (there were 3 or 4 more in SM2) edited out because he thinks they undermine the visuals and action.

But between the Parker and when he is allowed to play Spidey in the video games....Maguire is a damn fine Spider-Man in the end then.

I agree. He's almost getting into his mid 30's which isn't completely a bad thing...but he has a pretty young face, which is why his pp/sm performance up to this point has been pretty believable...he was already like 28/29 when sm1 came out...so there might be hope. I have a feeling that SM3 is going to try and wrap things up and present some sort of closure...though I hope they don't. (lets not get the X3 syndrome) Anyway, if maguire comes back for a 4th, I will be happy and you won't hear a peep out of me after that. 3 is a round number but 4 just seems right to me...we got 4 superman films before a reboot. It might be unlikely that he will return being as how a SM4 wouldn't even come about until 2010...which would put him around 37/38 I think. Anyway...regardless if he doesn't return for a 4th, I hope they leave things wide open much like SM2...so they can pick the story right up with new actors. I hope Raimi leaves himself options to do a 4th.
