did your mother ever yell at you for "stop being fresh!" when you talked back to her, or was being nasty and mean?

so I always wondered.... why was being called fresh a bad thing???
when fresh is actually a good thing. So when someone says stop beeing fresh, it would actual mean that they're telling you to stop being clean, or stop being bright, stop being new! stop being good!
fresh and the synonyms for it are all good things and are all good comments if you are called them... so why has that been always used by angry mothers as a bad thing towards you?....

Just like the weirdest compliment of all.

My parents have never used the term "Fresh" when I've talked back to them (which is quite often).

Forget about your parents. Most parents are spiteful and deep down don't want you to be successful socially or in anything else.

Thanks, and yeah my parents (and my sisters and me) swear all the time even when were just talking normally. Come to think about it, everyone in my family swears. Were just a bunch of loud italians/new yorkers.

Well, in some cases some words have different meanings.

I've always wondered why "you suck" is considered to be a bad thing. Usually sucking is part of a good thing. Example: sucking on a lollipop.
