Worldwide, the gap between the two will become smaller once Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories are released for the system.


Vice City Stories is coming out for PS2, so that kind of kills that one as a system seller :o

I'd think the Wii would be powerful enough to do more than change the color on the characters allowing Wario to have his WarioWare and classic outfit while keeping them the same character. Let's say there is 20 characters in the game at launch. Then in about a months time nintendo will allow you to download a character like diddy kong into the game to coincide with a game like diddy kong racing.

There won't be 20 characters. Melee had 25. Brawl will have around 35. I don't think they'll add new characters, atleast not for awhile. The first thing I think they will add is skins.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet. It is entirely possible (and likely) that new fighters, skins and levels will become available for download. Nintendo would be stupid not to. That also means that all those 3rd party properties could end up being in the game eventually, even if they aren't in the original package.

I'm a hardcore Nintendo guy, but not biased, I own me a PS2, Genesis, and others. I love games as a whole, but I'm loyal to the big N.

And at the start of E3, I saw the PS3 stuff, and I just assumed the worst, that Sony won and Nintendo was left in the dust. But the overwhelming response otherwise has shown my pessimistic ways different. Nintendo really did win E3. I almost don't want to believe it. Nintendo has a chance to get back on top after all!

Personally, when it comes to who else should be included, I think any character who's had a game on a Nintendo system is fair game, meaning Mega Man or, say, Cloud would be fair game, but not Master Chief.

1) Graphics in this game are on the bottom of the list of importance.
2) Launch games never look as great as the games in the end. Twilight Pricess' graphics are vastly superior to Luigi's Mansion's. Yet both are on the Gamecube.

Out of Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the obvious answer is Twilight Princess. The Legend of Zelda is not only Nintendo's best franchise, it's tied for the best in entire gamming in my opinion (right next to Metal Gear)

It has nothing to do with good opponents. Once you get it down it becomes just another move: up b and quater circle around. When I say most elegant, I mean that if you know how to, you can get the little ****er to pretty much float across the screen, landing hits while being nearly untouchable because he can be in and out before you have the chance to land a blow.

I don't know about elegant, but he is one of the most usefull players. He is one of the few I use on a regular basis, and can beat them most of the time. PK Thunder is one of the reasons I like him, and the bat.:)

umm, opponents do have everything to do with the way you play.

you can't always do a relatively slow pk thunder attack in a battle, especially 1v1.

PK Thunder: One of my personal favorite moves, if only for it's excellent ability to blow people away. While some may detest that it's an unnecessarily hard to pull off triple jump, when perfected, it can pretty much bring you back from the dead. Just manuever the thunder bolt underneath Ness' body and hit him in whatever direction you would like to travel. Not very useful in narrow pits, like in between buildings and such. If you need to use your triple jump there, you're pretty much dead. Now, if you wish to blow people away, like me, just use it while standing on flat ground near other players and fire yourself into them. Trust me, it's fun and it works. Finally, you can just fire it off and make it hit someone doing about 8% damage, but where's the fun in that?

It's a pretty quick attack and it's insanely powerful.

Like I said earlier, Dr. Mario is probably my best character overall. His pills take more damage from people then they realize, and his stubby-yet-very-powerful -> + A attack, when executed properly, can send 'em flying. And when they try to get back on the platform, I just use my sheet (-> + B) to twist 'em around and keep 'em falling. :D It's worked like a charm many times.

I was referring to using the controller to play SSBB. I am well aware that the controllers can connect to the Wii, but that does not prove that SSBB will use the controllers.

The developer said "Don't throw away your Gamecube controllers just yet" and it's been confirmed months ago. Even without this article I think it was pretty strongly enforced that you would be using the GC controllers. I guess you could use the virtual console controller as well, but meh.

May 18, 2006 - Masahiro Sakurai revealed first details on Super Smash Bros. Brawl months ago in his weekly column in Japan's Famitsu publication. While Smash Bros. content went quiet for a while, the latest entry, the first one following Nintendo's E3 debut, offers a few interesting comments on the game.


This weeks column was apparently written immediately after Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl unveiling conference, which Sakurai, the game's director, referred to as "the secret announcement meeting." He started off his discussion of the new title with the basics. "Dairantou Smash Bros. X is in development for the Wii. The game has yet to take basic form, but we were somehow able to make the announcement."
As you've probably guessed from Sakurai's comments, the game's Japanese name is Dairantou Smash Bros. X, with the "X" being used in place of our "Brawl." The "Dairantou" part of the title is in all the Japanese Smash Bros. games in place of our "Super," and means something to the effect of "Great Fight."

Sakurai wanted to make sure and give the new game a final name prior to its announcement, for marketing/promotional purposes. "From many different directions," he explained, "We settled on Smash Bros. X. The X gives the meaning of 'Cross,' or intersection." This idea, according to Sakurai, reflects the nature of the game, be it via the impossible character crossovers, the battle on a common battlefield, or facing off against an unknown person via Online play.

Smash Bros. is one of the few Wii games to maintain a standard control scheme. "I was given the task of creating Smash Bros.," explained Sakurai. "Of course, the topic becomes, how should we use the special remote controller? During the planning stages, we gave a lot of thought to this." In the end, Sakurai and his staff decided to not go too far with the controller, in particular avoiding being new just for the sake of being new, which Sakurai worried would make the game difficult to play.

Sakurai also made a few comments about what online play will bring to the title, and some of the problems of developing an online game. "To be honest, there are some annoying areas. While it's definite that the switch to online raises the possibilities for a game, there are lots of considerations, like manners, and level differences." He seems to have an overall favorable impression of online play, though, noting that, "It increases the opportunity to interact with players who are playing the same game."

Despite the title's use of a standard control scheme, Sakurai's journal offers kind words for the Wii. "I believe Wii is truly an appealing game machine. It begins to demonstrate solutions to many of the problems that face today's game industry."

You're the one who needs to shut his mouth you ***. Oni-Link would be awesome. If anyone in the game should be replaced, it's that little punk Young Link. Bring on Oni-Link. Furthermore, i'd like to see more than just colour variants in costumes this time around, and I know i'm not the only one. Am I right people. And who cares how good of a good hand to hand fighter Snake is, I can't wait to see the badass moves they come up with. And is anyone else relieved they seem to be making an addition of super moves. This adds a whole new level of intensity to the game. The super moves will look cool visually and add that oomph to defeating your opponent.

It's not too big of a deal remember when uninformed people use to think that Samus's name was Metroid because the title of the games were Metroid.

I figured they would have. Anyone who remembers how crazy people were going when the Pit trophy was released probably does too. Besides, people have been clamoring for a Kid Icarus sequel since '91 and Miyamoto more or less said it a year ago in an interview.

"Keep in mind that I haven't actually read many of Sakurai's old posts, since I decided to translate them when they put up the update before he said all chars wont return.

For some reason, my bro's computer can read hiragana/katakana, but not kanji. I figured out a way to "read" the kanji without seeing the symbols, so I shall do my best.

Here it is: Sakurai starts by saying there wont be any manga characters. Then he starts talking about other companies characters to appear in the game. Among other things, Sakurai says that the character MUST have appeared on a Nintendo platform before. And to literally translate the last sentence (keep in mind this is in reference to the characters from other companies): "Anyways, at most we'll add another 1-2 characters, maybe?"

Sakurai said it as a question, so it could still change. But at least we have a ballpark of how many non-Nintendo chars will be added.

I honestly wouldn't bet too heavilly on Alucard (since he has never appeared on a Nintendo Platform), and Konami already go representation with Snake... :(

Alucard made in an appearance in a GBA Castlevania game, but I forgot which one.

Sonic and Megaman would be great but anything beyond that is overkill.. I'd rather Sonic and Megaman over Snake anyway.. Snake's lame imo :o Plus I think Sonic and Megaman fit the Super Smash Bros. role better then Snake does anyway.

Snake made his debut on the MSX console. Later it got ported to the NES.

He'd be a good character to use against Samus. Ecspecially if he also had the Kirbyesque ability to take other characters' moves. Then he'd be one of the best characters hands down.
