ah,technically it's avideo game and a sequel which is the most advanced CGI film to date,but there was a 23 minute anime.guys name is Sephiroth,mass murderer,pshychotic madman,great backstory in a extremly movie like video game.....wsh i could get a moveing one of him in the fire thoughe....

DiCaprio would be perfect for the role of Black Mask. He looks the part, and he proved in The Aviator he can play a spoiled, deranged billionaire. He'd also be an excellent mirror to Bale.

The only thing I have read with Black Mask is the Red Hood/Jason Todd arc. To me, Black Mask seemed like a fast talker like a salesman or a character from Lucky Number Slevin/film noir. Like a ball buster guy with a good sense of humor but when he had to could be very evil, maniacal, and still hold respect as a crime boss. Am I understanding the character right?

They should go with a plain, wooden mask. If they have him scarred like he was later on, it'll seem repetetive when Two-Face is scarred.

What about Josh Hartnett? Someone mentioned how they thought the Black Mask was a fast talking salesman from Sin City. I think he might be ok, not my top choice.....just having fun throwing candidates out.

Gyllenhall might be the best choice, as he can play a dark brooding "Wayne".

How about Chris Meloni? From Law & Order SVU. I have seen him name thrown around in other casting threads, but i think this role may be best fit for him. Just watch his character on SVU.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. This "cast an unknown" thing has gone too far. Cast a good actor, known or not.

Plus, maybe it's just me, but there seems to be a double standard. Fans scream "cast an unknown!" and when an unknown name comes up, like Lachy Hulme for example, they say "I don't like him. He hasn't acted that much, so he must not be very good."

Thanks Eddie. Yeah, that could be a pretty cool character to bring into the movies. I don't have much of an idea about casting yet, but DiCaprio doesn't sound bad. He may have had a few prettyboy roles but I wouldn't say he's a typecast prettyboy. Joaquin Pheonix could be good too, though I'd rather see him as Two-Face/Harvey Dent

Phoenix would be wasted as Black Mask. This seems like such a typical villain role, while Dent has that dual-persona thing rockin. Phoenix is an amazing actor whose talents would be better displayed at Two-Face.
