My first thread ever on the Hype! :)

I know that the two of them dated awhile back, but obviously now they don't see eye to eye. But during there time way back together, I have to ask, did he ever sleep with her atleast once?

Thanks to whoever answers! :)

They dated?

I've never heard that. When did that happen?

They never dated. The only established comic book character who Zatana's been linked to romantically that I can think of is John Constantine.

the only time they've been linked romantically is in the animated series.

I have some old JLA issues from around the late 70s and early 80s. In them, it appears that after the Silver Age Flash (Barry Allen) was tragically widowed, he later flirted with Zatanna for awhile. I can't remember if they ever did anything so serious as going out on a date for dinner and a movie in their civilian identities, or if they just kinda flirted when they were working together on the job, fighting supervillains.

At any rate, it never really went anywhere. And some years later, it turned out Barry's wife Iris was still alive after all. For all I know, I may be the only person left alive who even remembers the Barry/Zatanna thing now! :)

(Okay, I'm probably not, but I sure don't remember seeing anyone else mention it lately.)

Not that big a surprise. Not too many species of the female kind around this place. Sigh....if only there were. If only........

anyway...I had no idea Zantanna had been with Constantine. Isn't he in the Vertigo line? I thought they were kept in different realities.

Hellblazer, like Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Lucifer, and Sandman, is in DCU continuity. He just doesn't cross over with the other books very often, as not to ruin the mystical crime drama feel of his book. It's established that during their respective 80s punk rocker phases, John and Zatanna were an item.

It was a phase she went through. She traveled with her father alot, and when they were living in England, she got drawn into the punk rock movement in 80s London. There, she met and started having sex with John Constantine.

Do the Hellblazer comics actually go into that at all? Or was this like in the SEX AFFAIRS SECRET FILES comic or something?

Thanks for the info Q, I really didn't know Vertigo's character had any bearing on the DCU at all.

No, it happened in the comics.

Well, some do and some don't. Swamp Thing, Sandman, Lucifer, Hellblazer, Animal Man, and Books of Magic are all in continuity with the rest of the DCU. They simply don't cross over very often and rarely mention one another. Sanman almsot never mentioned any of the major DCU characters. Only usually minor obscure characters. Although, there was an apearance from Batman, Superman, and Martian Manhunter in the final volume where they were discussing weird dreams they've had. Hellblazer lamost never crosses over with the rest of the DCU, although it has happened on occasion (as seen with Zatanna). From what I understand, Books of Magic and Animal Manhad the most regular DCU characters. Although, with Books of Magic, it was entirely the supernatural/horror comic croud, like Dr. Fate and those guys.

I think Sandman might have actually showed up in a JLA comic, during Morrison's run....come to think of it.

The Question

He did. He also showed up recently in JSA.
