I mean not in the superhero sense, more just artistic work. I'm not looking for Jim Lee or anything like that, just really good covers that are kinda simplistic or rather don't go towards the general superhero consensus. I hope people understand what I mean.

Yeah sci-fi is fine. Superhero comics can be fine. Its just I want artists that have unique styles. Not your standard, as much as I like him, Jim Lee type comic work.

100%
Written by Paul Pope; Art and cover by Pope
All five issues of the edgy, groundbreaking miniseries from writer/artist Paul Pope are collected in one stunning package. This "graphic movie" tells three separate but interconnected stories in Pope's trademark dynamic style, shifting viewpoints and characters across the urban maze of 2038 Manhattan. Filled with wit, charm, sex and menace, 100% brings a surprisingly true-feeling future to gritty life. The collection also includes a host of character sketches, designs, and other material from creator Pope.
"Beautifully harsh slash-and-burn drawings, combined with terse, funny dialogue. A-"

Heavy Liquid
In a future where New York has evolved into a sci-fi metropolis, "S," a man addicted to "heavy liquid," a substance that is both a drug and an art form, finds himself trapped in a mystery littered with love and drugs. This Eisner Award-nominated tale follows S's journey across two continents as he searches for the one artist skilled enough to render heavy liquid into a perfect sculpture. But as he attempts to complete this mission, S finds himself battling deadly psychopathic foes and inner demons of addiction. If he can survive these physical and mental trials, S just may discover the shocking secret of heavy liquid and a love he thought lost forever.

Concrete Volume 1: Depths TPB

http://images.darkhorse.com/covers/med/10/10733.jpg
By: Paul Chadwick (http://www.darkhorse.com/search/search.php?sstring=Paul+Chadwick&match=all&scope=products)
Cover Artist: Paul Chadwick (http://www.darkhorse.com/search/search.php?sstring=Paul+Chadwick&match=all&scope=products)
Features: Preview (http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/preview.php?theid=10-733), 1 Ecomic (http://www.darkhorse.com/downloads.php?sku=10-733&dltype=ecomic)
Awards: Paul Chadwick: Winner 2005 Eisner Award Best Writer/Artist for Concrete: The Human Dilemma (http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/profile.php?sku=00-069)
Part man, part...rock? Over seven feet tall and weighing over a thousand pounds, he is known as Concrete but is in reality the mind of one Ronald Lithgow, trapped inside a shell of stone, a body that allows him to walk unaided on the ocean's floor or survive the crush of a thousand tons of rubble in a collapsed mineshaft...but prevents him from feeling the touch of a human hand.
These stories of Concrete are as rich and satisfying as any in comics: funny, heartbreaking, and singularly human. Depths, the first in a series of new collections reprinting the classic early Concrete stories along with never-before-collected short stories, includes the Eisner-nominated "Orange Glow" and "Vagabond," Paul Chadwick's autobiographical account of a cross-country hitchiking trip.
• "...probably the best comic being published today by anyone, anywhere." -Harlan Ellison
• Paul Chadwick's Concrete has won five Eisner Awards and three Harvey Awards.

DAVE'S PICK OF THE MONTH:
Concrete Vol. 1: Depths TPB -DAVE: What can I say of this book that Harlan Ellison didn't cover with the following quote in the '80s?
"...probably the best comic being published today by anyone, anywhere."And here's a more recent assessment from Brian K. Vaughan:
"If you haven't read any Concrete, you don't really love comics. What genius stuff..."Hard to top those, but let me just add: you couldn't ask for a better means of sampling Concrete than this trade. Sized ala Dark Horse's new Sin City reprints (which look real sharp), it appears this trade will for the first time merge the full-length stories from the original Concrete series with the related stories that ran concurrent with 'em in Dark Horse Presents. Kick ass! And what's more, the trade also features a few short stories that've *never* been collected previously, so longtime fans should investigate as well.
For the newcomers, Concrete's about a shy political speechwriter who finds his mind mysteriously transported into a giant, rocky, alien body. What comes next I can't describe with justice in this little write-up, but at the risk of nutty-cuckoo over-hyping... I recommend Concrete more than any other title I've ever mentioned or ever will mention in this column.
RANDY: Uh. Wow. I don't think there's much I can add to that, except that I'm nowhere near the Paul Chadwick fan that you are in general, and even I am blown away by how good Concrete is, now that I'm getting back into reading it. Looking forward to re-reading some of these stories that I have read and finally catching up on everything I missed in the previous reprints of the books.

It's about Selina's return to Gotham and doing one last heist to reestablish herself and get on her feet (she wants to give up the theif business).
The story is told with the action and supsense of any great heist movie but all with Cooke's unique style.
This graphic novel was written to launch Brubaker's new Catwoman series where she became more anti-hero and less villain.

Bill Sienkiewicz (http://www.billsienkiewicz.com/)- He's even got a digital comic at the Matrix site. His site is incredibly bare but he did a short run in the early New Mutants. Another link (http://www.comicorange.gr/sienkiewicz.htm)to a page that has a small gallery.

Dan Brereton: Did "The Psycho" for DC and a bunch of cover, also the "7 Caskets" JLA Elseworld. You should check out his Nocturnals.com (http://www.nocturnals.com/) which is named after his creator owned comic.

I completely agree with DBM, Rex Libris is a great, fun book. You also get a lot of bang for you buck, each issue is packed... none of that Bendis dialogue, far from it.
The scanned pages above are from the first issue and if you notice at the bottom of every page there's small text...that's actually a running commentary on the story (like DVD audio commentaries) and it's hilarious. I hope he does that again on another issue.

Well, there's a couple issues left in the current Rex Libris storyline, so they might put a trade out in the not too distant future, since SLG is more known for TPBs & OGNs rather than singles. I don't know for sure if they are, but you might want to just wait and see.

I think my LCS might have it, actually. I looked up SLG's website and recognized the cover of #3. I'd seen it at the shop and flipped through it. It looked cool but I saw it was #3 and I had no context for anything, so I put it back and told myself I'd look into it, but I forgot. Strange how things work out. :)
