The original Batman Forever had like over 40 minutes of deleted scenes. Does the additional scenes feature in the DVD include all of them? If not, how long?

Uhh, this is the only release thus far that has included any deleted scenes.

No, I mean I know that he had cut over 40 minutes for Batman Forever, so is the entire deleted scenes included in the special edition?

No, 15 mins. approx.

There are not 40 mins missing. Maybe 25, tops. Most of the deleted material is on the new DVD.

It would be pretty cool to see the extra scenes though.

No, Joel Schumacher's original working print was 150+ mins. long! Warner Bros. Pictures thought it shouldn't be longer than 120 mins.

I got the new disc.. its only got like 10 minutes.. I heard that some of the stuff that wasn't on the DVD is darker though..

fabman

Yeah, on the DVD there are only 15 mins. deleted scenes. But the original workprint was 40mins. longer and was differently cut. Not only the order changed, it was cut differently with other frames etc.

The stuff they included on the special edition was crap, withthe exception of the giant bat sequence.

There is supposed to be a directors cut coming out of this film. I hope they do, for all intents and purposes this was the best film of the original 4 movies.

Yeah, I think that the anthology was the hurrah for the old batman franchise.

Sure the nipples, groin and butt shots were lame but the rest of the movie was much better than the previous one (returns) and a little better than bat89 plus Kilmer was a way better Batman.

Forever better then Returns and B89? Sorry I don't think so but I agree that Val Kilmer was better Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Michael Keaton was a great Batman, and an alright Bruce. Val Kilmer was a great Bruce, and an alright Batman. George Clooney sucked ass at both. Christian Bale pulled both roles of PERFECLTY.

What exactly? The villiains were worse (two-face anyone), the city was worse, the acting was worse, the humour was worse, the story was worse, Robin was... there. Let's say we can debate and contrast opinions on Kilmer. He was good but a little stiffy (and not because of the rubber suit).

I think if it maintained the Elfman score i may be able to tolerate the movie a bit more. Goldenthals music is just way to corny for me.

Unless you're basing your opinion solely on looks, then you're wrong. Kilmer was flacid, uncharismatic and simply a pain to watch onscreen.

Sure he hadthe looks and can act too. I liked his Batman and Bruce voice different from each other unlike Clooney who had same voice as Bruce/Batman. Uncharismatic?? No flacid?? Yes.

Sorry, but he was in no way better than Keaton. Keaton may not have had the look, but at least he had the voice as well as the dark, brooding presence. Kilmer had neither of those qualities. And yes, he was very uncharismatic IMO.

I actaully really like Kilmer as an actor, but he was horrible as Batman. I think he would've been better had he not been saddled with such bad material.

I agree. It's fitting that Two Face was the villian, because the film itself struggles with its own duality crisis. At one moment it's outrageously campy and over the top, the next moment it's trying to be serious, and so on and so forth. It what completely kills the film. B&R was just as bad, but at least the mood is consistent througout the film. One of these days I'm going to try and watch B&R again and view it as a comedy rather than an actual adaptation of the Batman mythos, and see if it makes it more enjoyable.

I couldnt tell a difference in Kilmers voice. as a matter of fact, i think there were quit afew scenes where he had a "Batman" voice while playing Bruce Wayne.

Question for those who own the SE of Forever : does bonus features include improv or outtakes work of Jim Carrey???? I think I read on the net (can't trace the source for ya) that there was a lot of material for the destruction of the batcave and they kept like less than a half and not the best things he made
The guy's a genius so can anyone answer please?

No.

In an interview with Carrey he said that there was only one take for those scenes because it took so long to rig the explosions.

I finally decided to sit through the commentary by Joel Schumacher on Batman Forever. My cable was out last night and decided to have it playing in the background while I was doing some stuff on the computer. It was nice to kind of get an idea of what this guy was thinking while making the film. He said what I expected (Returns was dark and the studios wanted a lighter film blah blah blah. The funniest part was he called Robin by the name of "Nighthawk" I'm assuming he meant to say Nightwing....lol. I may torture myself tonight and watch Batman and Robin with commentary :). What did everyone else think of Schumacher's commentary?

That deleted scene with the giant Bat was retarded. The worse thing about the scene was at the end where Alfred said "Master Bruce" and Kilmer replied with "Batman...Alfred...Batman". It was just the way he said Batman. I enjoy a lot of Val Kilmer's movies but I didn't care for his version of Batman.

I'm listening and watching B&R right now with commentary. The same old Schumacher stuff so far. He keeps talking about the family theme of Forever and B&R and how the studio wanted more families to attend the films. It was funny when he mentioned in both commentaries that some fans may be upset with the lighter tone  . Schumacher constantly mentions about how dark Batman Returns was. I truly don't understand Schumacher. At least one positive thing about Batman Forever was that it was the top grossing film of 1995. It resurrected the franchise...makes you wonder if it wasn't for Forever would we even be graced with Batman Begins.

BF was HUGE that year. I dont mean just box office but the overal buzz on the movie. Toy Story was the only movie to take in more money that year and it was only 6 million more.

My mistake I thought Forever was the top that year at the box office. But it was huge that year.

I watched B&R last night with commentary I guess that was the only way I could actually tolerate the movie. Schumacher disses George Clooney pretty bad. The only positive thing he said was that he was good in the Bruce Wayne scenes with Alfred. Other than that it was the same old Schumacher. I found it fascinating that his favorite Batman story was Year One. He wanted to film a version of Year One after Forever but was kind of forced by the studio to do a film similar to B&R. It is amazing what those studio heads can force a director to do. The marketing juggeranut was in full strength. The reason he said that the movie had some many vehicles were to make more toys for the kids. We all know Batman is more than just a story for kids. They are so many elements that appeal to all age groups. The film was way too over the top for me. This is the only new Batman DVD that I haven't watched all of the bonus features for. I simply bought the movie to complete my Batman film collection. I may suffer through the bonus features later tonight after I finish work.
