So everyone start calling those local Wal Mart stores!

Actually, Wal Mart is the store famous for putting some things out early. I don't think Target would have it out this early, but it is definately worth it to check!
Another good place you guys should try is Borders books, if you have one near you.

Its funny...i need to fight the urge to have it and read it...its funny...When i read the Spider-man novelization and when i saw it in theaters, it was great. But when i read the script for Batman Begins, i spoiled the whole movie and it almost ruined my experience. So i don`t know what to think of this...

I read the 6th Sense novelization before I saw the movie and honestly for some reason like the novel better. The novel is a little more elaborate and explains the nuances of small little things that the viewer would not have known but that were placed in the movie with certain intention by the director. The movie seemed a little thin against the book in terms of emotions. Maybe its about imagination, when you read a book or a novel you paint pictures in your mind about the characters, situations and so on, but the movie may not be able to leap as high and wide as imagination.
So, I would rather not read the novelization before the movie, I would buy it later though because for me if its Superman its worth buying.
Movie books are usually a bit on the weak side. Some second rate author who can't write using bland, repetitive descriptions (for example, I bet he describes Superman as having lightning fast speed, reflexes, etc or some variant of it at least six times in the book) adapting someone elses work because his attempts at "storys" have been rejected time and time again by publishers.

Nice, but that kind of re-enforces the notion that it will be bad. Comic writing is ten times different than novel writing. Has he written a novel before?

The 6th Sense Novelization was done by the director- MNS. It was definitely worth a read. However, Matt's comment about movie novel writers may be based on SM3 and 4 which based on the reviews I read recently were definitely worth missing.

I'm just saying, its a different art. For the three you named there are countless who failed the transition.

well, if it's put up, put it in spoiler text.
Im curious, but have to agree movie novels are very fickle things, some are dead on, some are better than the finished film, and some are just crap.
But hey, the Hulk novel helped change my perspective on the film, and it was a bit better in some parts. But the final film ended up having major discrepencies with the Novel.

It's a SPOILER FORUM. If you don't want to be spoiled, GET OUT. It's pretty much that simple. No one's gonna think any less of you if you do, and it's not like there isn't another forum for you to discuss non-spoiler things
But banning people because YOU don't have any willpower is silly.
Again, it's a Spoiler Forum. The whole POINT of this board is to find out what happens before you go into the theater. Reading this novelization is part of that.

I see your point but I think there is a huge difference between "Spoiler" & "Spoilt/Spoiled".
It is one thing to spoil a scene but surely not the whole story ?
If the whole of the section was based on such thinking, then why are "spoiler tags" advocated ?

Spoiler Tags are advocated for people like you who get mad at other people for exploiting their lack of willpower. So to ensure less people whine and complain because they want their cake and eat it too, the people who understand what a Spoiler Forum is meant to do make concessions to those who'd rather apply their own definition, and they put tags on things.
There is no difference between Spoiler and Spoiled. That doesn't even make any sense. Spoilers SPOIL you. If you read some, you're spoiled. If you come into this forum, you pretty much say "I want to be spoiled." It's up to you to decide WHEN enough is enough. Asking for people to be banned because you don't trust yourself to make that decision is totally backwards.

The difference between "Spoiler" & "Spoiled" is quite one of plurality, for most people with an inkling of the english language, to understand.

No, I think that since it's still the spoiler section, that means anything goes. It's up to you to go where spoilers aren't permited although I personally feel some spoilers are most spoiling than others, but this type of movie probably won't contain deep shocks for us so I don't mind knowing the whole story going in. If it were a murder mystery, youknow, a whodunnit sort of thing, then I'd not want it spoiled at all.

Oh, stop condescending to me and dwelling on "personal innuendo" which isn't even a commonly accepted phrase, plus you misused the word "innuendo." I mean, I could pretty much guess what you're saying, but don't think I didn't notice you completely dodged most, if not all, of the argument, choosing instead to focus solely on your grievous personal injury because I'm actually correctly reflecting your mindset :)
You're trying to use my words to stab me with and you're holding the knife by the wrong end. You're just cutting your hands all up and pretending you look smart while doing it.
All of my points still stand. If YOU'RE personally uncomfortable with the idea of being spoiled, then YOU need to leave. People DO NOT need to be kicked out at your suggestion because you feel the spoilers are getting too hot. I'm sure you're familiar with the old cliche about temperature and the kitchen?
The responsibility is on YOU to make yourself comfortable. Banning people for using the Spoiler Forum to post Spoilers is so innately contradictory as to be comical almost. Except you're serious about it, which is sorta perplexing.
Here, I'll repost some of my last reply especially to see if there's anything you can seriously argue against:

No, I think that since it's still the spoiler section, that means anything goes. It's up to you to go where spoilers aren't permited although I personally feel some spoilers are most spoiling than others, but this type of movie probably won't contain deep shocks for us so I don't mind knowing the whole story going in. If it were a murder mystery, youknow, a whodunnit sort of thing, then I'd not want it spoiled at all.
Yes, again I see that point and it is very valid - However, the Spoiler section is more of a popular section where most things are posted non spoiler related, simply because it has the popularity and traffic.
Things such as "manips", "Collectibles" etc........are not spoilerish but remain here out of simplicity of being the #1 SR forum.
By rights, they should be moved elsewhere
If you are going to make it solely a "Spoiler section".................then that is what it should be, with everything else moved out.
It is one or the other.

Well everyone, I just ordred in from AMAZON.COM 1 day shipping. Is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Will let anyone know that wants to what the story is about.
I should do that as well. Calling Wal-Mart is downright depressing. I don't think they even try to see if they received it.
I got the book, this morning, by the way. Its only 344 pages, I could have it finished by 7 oclock. I am debating whether or not I want to share this information with the posters of this board.

Well, when you finish reading it--feel free to share. It'll be cool spreading love (or poison, depending on how the book is) amongst the fans. Trust me. You'll dig it.
And what if you want to look at manips, collectibles etc......you see, you want it both ways. This forum is a mess and now you want order to something that has none.
Oh, there's plenty of order, you're just way overstating it now. If you want to look at a manip, I doubt NOVELIZATION PAGES are going to be in there. If you want to look at a figure, I doubt SCRIPT QUOTES are just going to randomly pop up.
And even if they did--so what? It's the SPOILER FORUM. Those things are all spoilers ANYWAY. YOU are personally uncomfortable with spoilers getting to a certain point. Again, it is YOUR responsibility to cut yourself off when you hit that point, not cut the WHOLE BOARD OFF so you don't get hurt or whatever. Your outlook on the thing is backwards.
A thread stating 'NOVEL SPOILERS: BLAH BLAH BLAH" is pretty organized, isn't it? Chances are you'll know not to go in there. Spoilers aren't supposed to go in thread titles so that's already covered, so as long as you pay attention to what the titles are and what subjects they're about, you should be able to avoid aimlessly wandering into them.
And if you don't trust yourself NOT to do that, then you need to pursue other avenues of posting fun :)
The common thread here is that it's YOUR responsibility to cut yourself off, not the Mod's responsibility to cut the forum off for you. For example--if you're so worried, why did you plunge straight into a thread entitled "THE NOVELIZATION IS OUT" if you didn't want the story spoiled for you? How do you not know what MIGHT be inside based on that title?
remember now, the phoenix story was not in the X2 novelization, so as far as i'm concerned, the book doesn't solve anything.
That is such an anomaly, and nowhere near the normal. Yes, Singer's in charge of BOTH productions, but that doesn't mean one follows the other. And the circumstances behind the X2 plot switch were pretty different/hectic. I'm not so sure the same thing has occurred here.

Matt, you and I almost always disagree, that's just the way it is. But dude, this whole "this is what you guys get for mistreating me" nonsense is really quite rediculous.
Because like Fatboy said, very soon, your self imposed 15 minutes will be up, and you won't be able to use spoilers to "earn" phony apologies, because someone will happily share them with us for free.
I you want people to start seing you differently, this is not the way to go about it...

See, now if you really didn't care, why bother with all this?
Because it's fun to write. If you didn't really care, why would you buy a book you didn't want? Oh that's right, because you were in the store and this thought ACTUALLY crossed your mind IN REAL LIFE while you stood in a Super Wal-Mart:
"Yunno, I think it'd be fun to show those guys at The SuperheroHype boards that they wont have me to kick around. I'll buy this stupid book and then I'll tell them I'm not going to tell them ANYTHING about it. OOOOHHH giggle giggle IT'LL BE GREAT. That'll show em. That's definitely worth 7 bucks"
See, me writing goofy little characterizations takes much less time and effort. You actually went to a store and spent your own money for the sole purpose of trying to piss off people you've never met or seen in person on a Superman Messageboard.
One of those is an example of caring. The other is not. Like I said--the info's going to get out without you, and no one's going to care you ever pulled this in a couple days. :)

Matt shouldn't. No one's saying he should, actually, not in this thread, we're saying holding the novel ransom is silly because the details are going to come anyway. In all honesty, I haven't even taken it out of the bag yet. I am utterly engrossed in The Da Vinici Code. which I want to finish before the movie comes out.

Glad you're enjoying the Da Vinci Code. Coincidentally, I also just bought the book a few days ago. Figured I should see what all the fuss was about. I am almost half-way through it, and it is very interesting so far.
But please, can you just check really quick, and see if the kid is his? That isn't going to spoil the book for you, because we all already assume he is, and we are just waiting for confirmation.
Help us out here Matt...

Oh, stop trying. Dude probably doesn't even have the book in the first place. He straight out ADMITS he wants people to kiss his ass to get him to cough up spoilers--and you're actually going to TRY? Forget it. About 5 people just on these boards ALONE will have the novel themselves within the next 2 days, and they're not gonna play chintzy games with it in order to inflate their sense of self-importance. Stop wasting your time trying to get through to this guy.
I've already got several PMs worried about it
Well then you tell those people to tuck in their effing panties and GTFO of the spoiler section if they're getting THAT sketchy that they've got to whine to a mod because they can't exercise the self-control they don't have. It's pretty simple.
I've completely come to terms with my lack of self-control, it's why I visit Spoiler Sections :)

Just remember guys, that the novel IS NOT THE MOVIE. A lot of things change. For instante, in the Spider-Man 2 novelization the scene where Doc Ock talks to his tentacles, the tentacles actually call him "daddy!" Fanboys went crazy over the unbearable cheesiness of it and it wasn´t in the movie...

Maybe that's a good sign.
He claims he hasn't taken it out of the bag yet (BS), despite the fact that he drove all the way to Wal Mart just to pick it up.
I guarantee that if he has it, he would have already checked to see if the kid is Superman's. And if he in fact is Superman's son, Matt would be on here right now whining about how the movie is doomed, and how Singer destroyed Superman!
So hey, maybe the kid isn't Superman's!
But I bet if he has it, he has already read quite a bit of it, and is realizing that the story is actually really good. Maybe that's why he's not posting anything...
That is of course, if he even has the book.

Well, you dont need to go to the store, ol' chummy. Any purchace receipt from any Wal-mart will have the store managers name right above the phone number and location. It's a simple validation request. If you put it up, it will just prove me wrong and you right, and make me look bad.
But I can understand why you cant supply the goods... because you dont have a receipt to produse the managers name.
