if not because its ghostrider.....then because its MSJ:o

after the hate that daredevil got(i LOVED it) people refuse to give him a chance:mad:

Probably true but who knows really.

DareDevil was one of the best comic book movies ever. Just watch Generation X with Matt Frewer if you want to see a truly awful one.

I'm worried because Marvel's in the midst of a VERY bad streak.

Elektra. Fantastic Four. X-Men 3.

I hope Ghost Rider is going to turn the tide and get them back to making good movies again. I'm crossing my fingers for them, but they seem to have completely lost their way...

But yes, Elektra was abominable.

1. Elektra was poorly handled. FOX
2. Fantastic Four...once again...FOX.
3. X-Men 3 I thought was the best of the series. It still had a few minor problems *COUGHS*FOX*COUGHS* but is still a box office monster and a damn great film IMO.

Sony is the studio with Ghost Rider which is responsible for the Spider-Man films. It is in good hands.

They seem to be getting progressively worse in my eyes. Out of those three, Elektra is the most tolerable for me.

As for Spider-Man... I don't think most people attribute its success to Sony but to Raimi. Then again, I wasn't happy with Spider-man 2.

Without Sony Raimi wouldn't have made those great films. And if you think Elektra was better than FF and X3 I feel bad for your taste.

There was a hate-filled post directed at me written by Diamondhead that has now been deleted. Resume your lives. :)

I wonder if, when the "full trailer" hits, we'll get a brief glimpse of Blackheart in full demon form... ?

But that's probably not gonna hit until the end of the year.

I do expect, however, that Ghost Rider will contain the first trailer for Fantastic Four 2. Gotta keep the Marvel trailer attachment trend going!

Man, no matter how many times I watch the trailer, I still get chills. I love the score music used in it, the tone of the trailer (religious horror action always rocks my socks), and I love movies that use motorcycles.

Who didn't pretend their bike was a motorcycle as a child? I seriously can't wait to see this.

I doubt we'll see the true Blackheart until the movie. Maybe glimpses that last less than a second.

Technically that trend ended since FF didn't have a trailer attached. It was supposed to...but didn't

Those looked finished to you?:o

no they ain't done. even if they looked done

Saw the trailer on the big screen Fri and the skull looks 10 x's better on the big screen. So these could very well be finished shots. It also wasn't the exact same as the domestic trailer because it had the shot of ghost rider from behind sitting on his bike. I don't know if something happend with the rendering for the online trailer or what, because I thought the same thing about the shots with the skull. They looked unfinished but in the theater I looked closely at the skull and it looked great. Whatever the case they should re-render the online trailers to get the look it has on film.

zer00
05-29-2006, 02:01 AM
It always looks better on the big screen. But I don't know where people are getting these are finished. probobly finished for the teaser. Even if GR had the same release date the effects wouldn't be finished. They look fantastic but they defenitly don't look done to me

Kasady
05-29-2006, 03:42 AM
I've never noticed that much of an improvement in a shot from what I thought look questionable to looking that good on screen. In the online trailer the skull moves around to much and looks out of place. Also it looks to white. I watched for these things in the theater and was amazed to see a vast improvement on the look and feel of the skull. The skull was not that white and the head didn't move out of place.

I saw the Ghost Rider trailer while at X-Men 3. I thought it looked really good. The CG was interesting and at a $120 million budget, compared to X3 $200 plus, should do well at the box office. I've been a Marvel fan since I was a child. My first comic books were Superman and X-Men. Good 'ol days. So seeing all of the Marvel titles coming to life is great, even those that were not so good...I.E. Hulk, Elektra, and Daredevil. Even though some of those movies weren't good, I'm still glad they still were made. AVP was on the drawing table for like a 100 years and I was just glad it finally came out. It should have been better. Oh, sorry...back to Ghost Rider. This is the next Marvel movie I am looking forward to see. Mr.Cage, please don't let us down.:ghost:

From that sequence I think it's gotten better. Elektra is the worst of that bunch.

Does anyone know if the music during the domestic teaser trailer (during the "years ago he made a deal to save someone he loved" section) is part of the original score, or if it has already been used for another movie?

Guests, sign up and log on. Nicolas Cage is pure hottness.I'm usually annoyed by Nick Cage (bloody awful in "Moonstruck", repulsive in "Weather Man"), but he's had some moments of greatness ("Raising Arizona", "Con Air", "The Rock", "Matchstick Men", "The Family Man" - his performance, not the movie - that was still dumb). So I'm looking forward to Ghost Rider.

He should ditch the crappy toupee, though. You're bald, man. Deal with it! Vin Diesel and Patrick Steward and Ed Harris have all come to terms with it, why not you?

I guess it's one of those things that I'll just never get.

I love Nic Cage and I can't name a movie he's been in that I didn't like.

And every now and then someone will come along hating on the guy and I'm like "Wtf? How can you hate such a cool, kickass dude who's given us such cool, kickass movies?" Inevitably the answer comes down to "cuz teh douchebag can't act!" or somesuch crap. Nevermind the fact that some random internet weirdo is the last person in the world who should be judging acting prowess....but still.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

It's kinda the same for Keannu Reeves. I catch Holy Hell every time I try to stand up for the guy. What can I say? I just like the dude and I like every movie he's in. I loved Constantine. Matrix? Freakin awesome and I can't imagine anyone but Keannu playing Neo.

I keep telling myself that guys like Cage/Reeves are laughing themselves all the way to the bank while the goofy fanboy haters are spewing their fanboy hate all over their mommy's fanboy basements...and that helps.....a lot.

I promise I was going somewhere with this....but I seem to have lost it.

So I'll slap a *To Be Continued* on it.

I live in Rochester, New York and i went to the 6:45pm showing of X3. The theater was PACKED! Shoulder to shoulder. When the Ghost Rider trailer played there was shouting! It seemed like everyone knew who he was and was enjoying what they were seeing. The crowd was VERY disverse as well. I saw elderly people, couples and groups ranging from ages 16-55 years of age. most of the young people i saw there were not what i expected. and what was the best thing? there was a 7yr old kid sitting behind me with his father. normal looking people, and then when the Ghost Rider trailer was playing the little boy leans over and asks " which is he again daddy?" the father leans over and says "That's Ghost Rider, remember?" "oh yeah" responds the boy.

The trailer was ****ing sweet. When I got back home I kept watching the trailer at youtube, it has to one of favorite trailers right next to Army of Darkness. In fact after everyone was done talking about X3 they'll switch and talk about Ghost Rider. I also notice that he was racing a horse on fire. I thought to myself it has to be the first Ghost Rider or Phantom Rider or am I wrong?

Abe

Im from Melbourne and in the states on vacation. This the first time to access the net and see the trailer.
Holy cow! My heart beats soo fast everytime i watch it.
I was also fortunate to view some filming in melbourne and the scenes look fantastic. When im home and im walking or driving past the areas where they filmed, Ghost Rider is always the first memory that comes to mind.
Melbourne Cemetary, Telstra Dome, Little Lonsdale St, Gaffitti Alley, Yarra River, Studio City, Collins St, Newport Railyards, Bacchus Marsh Circus Site and many others.
If anyone comes to Melb, get a hold of Abe or Total Package and they will give you a tour of the sites.(I think!)
Caretakers voice is kick arse. Anyone else notice the blue flame on GR when he's walking towards Eva?
This movie is gonna be kicking so many butts you'll taste GR's shoe leather.
Now im off to the movies to see X-Men 3. Bring on the Big screen Ghost Rider Trailer.

It sure wasn't great, mate. A cool idea for sure but that doesn't mean the film was quality. The concept was original but the film was was overly stylized to the extreme and was more of a gimmick than an actual film. I guess this question is more for the people who just randomly roam these boards, cause I doubt any of the people who have been here long before the trailer thought it was going to be bad. I hate seeing the word Daredevil in this board. The average movie goer has no idea who is making the movie. All they see is the cool preview and trailer and think "I gotta see this", they don't go man that movie is being made by the same guy that did blah blah blah, I think I'll pass on this movie. I have a feeling that a big percentage of the people that are going to see this are not going to be people like us that visit these boards all the time.

I fairly agree, but Saw II handled the concept much better in my opinion. That one impressed me enough to care about the third go.

when i saw x-men 3... they showed the superman returns trailer and it looked okay. then right after it was GHOST RIDER and even tho i saw the trailer the day before, it was still so awesome. i'm sure supes will be a great movie cuz singer is directing it but i just hate superman and ghost rider is so much more badass... the crowd seemed to react more the the ghost rider trailer too but that's probably cuz it has a lot more action that makes you go "oh snap!" the only thing that gave me that feeling in the supes trailer was seeing the bullet bounce of his eyeball... that was pretty cool. anyway, let me make my final point.

GHOST RIDER > superman

Thank you. I don't know about getting straight with Marvel, that is an uphill battle. I feel badly for Gary , though he seems to be doing ok with it.

My ultimate wish is that Marvel could come to some kind of agreement w/ all of the main creators of Ghost Rider. would be really nice to see them get some well deserved respect for creating such a cool character....I can personally say that I wouldnt be very interested in comics if it wasnt for GR. I even gave up buying comics on a regular basis once Marvel cancelled the book (both times! heh)
Would be great to see them in a "making of" type of documentary for the dvd.
Even if things dont pan out for Gary concerning Marvel I hope that he might get some media attention from the movie..we can only hope.
Good luck to both of you...and please send Gary our thanks :)

Everyone I know that has seen this trailer..men, women, comic fan or not....have all "ooo"ed and "ahh"ed at it, said it looks very cool and were interested in seeing it.
This is one of Marvel's underdog films (not a well known character and scheduled in the movie dumping ground of February), but I'm really hoping for it to pull a Blade and surprise everyone.

I give it a 3/5. Loved seeing Ghost Rider in action on the big screen. Some of the special effects made me feel like I was switching back and forth between watching a live-action movie preview, and an upcoming video game trailer. But that could be more of a compliment to today's video games than a criticism of this trailer.

Overall, the trailer was entertaining, but it seemed unoriginal to me. They need to put something out there that shows people that this is not just another typical action flick...it's not a spinoff from Constantine or Hellboy, and it's not a video game, or a movie based on a video game. That is, unless it really is just another typical action flick...

whats the name of that instrumental song that was on the trailer

FlameHead
06-05-2006, 01:46 PM
I can answer that.

Firstly, the feature film itself is usually a 35mm film, about 6 or 7 reels worth and when all spliced together form a length of polyester more than two kilometres long from head to tail. I say "usually" because there are also digital prints these days too, although these are still very much in the minority.

The trailers are separate and when coiled on a 2" hub will fit neatly on your hand with fully splayed fingers. These trailers will arrive from the distributor sometimes in shipments of just the one title, sometimes bundled with several other titles and generally the number of any particular title is relative to the screening capacity of the cinema. For example, where I work it's a 5 cinema complex and we usually get two or three copies of a trailer with various shipments of different trailers trickling in about three times a week. Some will be put into use immediately, others will sit and gather dust for a while until they are needed. If they are to go on a film, the trailers will be spliced on just as the individual feature reels are spliced together.

From there a number of things can/will happen. In my case I need to notify my booking agent about which titles have arrived each week so she knows what is available to be used. Some trailers are assigned to films by a cinema employee appointed with that task and they'll go on particular films according to whatever trailer list gets handed down. Other times negotiations with distributors will have a cinema contracted to play certain trailers with certain movies - There was probably a degree of that with the Ghost Rider teaser.

Which leaves the obstacles in the path of seeing that particular teaser on that particular film (X-Men 3).
- The cinema you go to might not have entered into any agreement to play the Ghost Rider teaser.
- The cinema potentially (and this is more of a close-to-release time thing) may not be exhibiting the feature that the trailer is for and therefore have no reason to run the trailer.
- The trailers may simply not have arrived yet, possibly due to a different release schedule from the major release target. I know I haven't received any copies yet, so I can't run what I don't have eh? ;)
- The wheels of beaurocracy and red tape are complex enough that odd mistakes and discrepancies are happening fairly regularly so there is a liklihood of a GR teaser presentation slipping through the cracks due to some clerical error.

I could go on.

Basically, any time you hear or read that a trailer is supposed to be attached to something, just remember that it might be. ;)

Wow WarBlade, you really shed a lot of light on things for me when it comes to teasers and such. I knew it wasn't an easy process but, I had no idea so many factors were involved. Thanks for the info.

The problem is that a lot of people either dont know or dont care about the DD directors cut. People dont know because they dont visit sites like this to find out about it. he talks about GR and says this about the trailer:
"We really wanted the effects, the effects you saw in the trailer to be perfect, with the effects you see in the trailer we still have a ways to go. Fire is tough."

titles in movie trailers im not concerned about...its the end product for me. that stuff is normally not used in the finished film so i wouldnt worry about it. i personally dont like the GR logo...would have preferred something like the 90s comic ....but hey what can ya do?
dont worry about the music though...its just your typical fill in soundtrack lifted from another film (the Island?)....it wont be in the movie. Christopher Young (the guy who did the music for Hellraiser and others) is working on it now from what i understand.

You're definitely right about that. I completely understand that elements in a trailer don't always have anything to do with the film itself, but they ARE being made by the same people/company, so there's definitely a relationship there. I mean many times the trailers are cut by the person editing the feature, so if it's badly cut, the movie might not fare as well either.

dont know it for sure...but if youve noticed in other major releases they pretty much all have their own original score. its typical for movie trailers to "borrow" a piece of music from a film that was already in theaters...just something easy and fast since typically the actual movie soundtrack is still being worked on.
it would also look really cheap for a movie to blantantly use another film's soundrack....not to mention expensive in the long run

there was a old west GR...but he was not like the modern GR at all. just some guy who dressed up in a white outfit and pretended to be a ghost in order to fight outlaws.

they are racing to see who will have to pay for Taco Bell :D
but im guessing thats at the end of the movie where both GRs celebrate their freedom from (or at least some kind of win over) Mephisto w/ a night ride into the desert.
im guessing that the old west GR managed to find a way to get out of his contract w/ Mephisto but was still be able to retain his powers. as a result he could have ended up either being immortal or just prolonged his life for a bit.

well...the taco bell reference might make it into the directors cut...heh
no word on Abigor...only info i found on him is what was based on the actual Abigor in demonology. hes suposed to be a general of hell who commands armies. he also brings luck or gives advice to generals or commanders of armies here on earth. but keep in mind that part might not be in movie
dont think wallow makes people kill themselves...he might just be a demon whose real form is made of water.
all i know is that the 3 demons are based on the elements: Wallow (water) w/ Gressel and Abigor taking up the earth and air elements. now which is which for those last 2 i have no idea. there was a description that the earth demon is literally made of dirt and worms. the air demon i guess was that zombie/ghost looking thing that was surrounded by smoke coming straight at the camera.

"And Johnny makes a deal with Mephisto to save his father, now Mephisto wants him to be Ghost Rider and capture anyone who escapes from Hell, and he wants him to stop his son Blackheart from making a better Hell?"

I agree. The scenes where he was a lawyer, hitting on women (etc) was great scenes for Affleck because he is really a layed back sort of guy. WHen he was Daredevil, he just looked real goofy, his lines were very cheasy, and his acting was horrible.

^ Most people in general though Affleck sucked though I'm sure Daredevil fans left with not other choice dealt with it. I liked the overall film quality, the villains, the atmosphere but to me Ghost Rider looks to have quality that far surpassed Daredevil and it looks like much more fun.

In Film Review on Affleck in Daredevil:

...The problem with DAREDEVIL is, regardless of the glut of PR hype, Affleck doesn’t have sexual charisma. He can’t hold the screen — with or without the mask. I’ve done a quick survey among my female friends. Affleck is just not “hot.” We know Affleck isn’t always in that costume and it is stuntmen who are in the fight sequences and leaping off buildings. CGI effects dominate the film but when the character of Daredevil is on screen, it has to be played by someone who can deliver nuisance and a sense of inner turmoil or, how about fun? Having a high profile personal life, or being named “The Sexiest Man Alive” by People Magazine, does not translate on the screen...

He was so soft and un-hero like to me. He was laughable in the fight scenes when you actually saw his face. The park fight with Elektra had me rolling on the floor laughing at just how pathetic he is. He has zero physical skills. He should stick to cameo's in Kevin Smith films or move to Idaho. Sorry but I can't stand him. His interviews when he's non-stop cursing and totally intoxicated doesn't make my opinion any more positive.

Holy crapper. GR trailer is attached to POTC2? That's pretty huge considering the number of folks who say POTC2 so far. I wonder how many had it.

Interesting stuff. Congrats on finally seein' it on the big screen Aveit.

MSJ's film was raped by the studio. The DC was better but IMO Ben Affleck ruined Daredevil. Everything else was fine in the DC cut.

Never a truer word (words?) said.
