The only time I'm truly happy is when I'm at an amusement park, which I suppose indicates severe dysfunction.

been to only a few ...Boblo (RIP), Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, 6-Flags over Texas, Universal Florida, Disney World (if that counts), and one in/near Rochester NY. All were fun...NOTHING matches Cedar Point though...best coasters anywhere, from what i can imagine....love it!!

I just went to Six Flags Great Adventure on Friday. It was great. 2 of my friends decided they wanted to go on Kingda Ka (tallest roller coaster in the world), and since no one else did, they left to do it themselves. Despite the fact it was a rainy day, on a weekday, it was stilll about 3 hours before we saw them again. They had ridden once. We had ridden, like, 5 rides.
Cedar Point is great, but I've only been there once. I've gone to Dorney Park, it's suckier cousin, many a time though.

Wow The Power Tower at Cedar Point makes the Dr.Doom's freefall look like A Cat in the Hat ride.
Last month I went to Islands of Adventure for a field trip and went on the Hulk and Dudley Do-right for the first time.I wanted to die:o

I LOVE amusement parks, I always go to them during the summer, last year I went to Six Flags Great Adventure and went on "Kingda Ka" and almost peed my pants, it was so fun. Six Flags New England and Magic Mountain are great too. Same with Universal Studios and Cedar Point (I love Millenium Force).

in general, the Disney Parks.
For thrill parks, it's generally whoever has the biggest rides at the moment. Currently, Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ has the biggest, Kingda Ka. Cedar Point, Ohio has the second, Top Thrill Dragster, and some other of the other biggest ones like Millenium Force

Cedar Point is THE park to go to. No. Questions. Asked.
Maaaaan, the first time you are at the top of the 420 ft. 80-degree drop...and you can see ALLLL of the park...and you wonder how that little lap-bar is supposed to hold you in....PURE UTOPIA....and FEAR!
What a rush!
And I LOVE that it's not like most coasters that clink you up by a chain, foot-by-foot. It PULLS you up...then flings you down!
There's just such a great amount of awesome coasters there.
Millenium Force
Raptor
Mantis
Magnum
Gemini
Mean Streak
Top Thrill Dragster
..heck...even Disaster Transport!
If you've never been to Cedar Point....GET ON IT!

As a former Clevelander, I use to live near Cedar Point too.
What can I say, the largest park in the world by land area, the most rollor coasters (16), and several time record holder for biggest and fasted and several other categories of coaster. Cedar Point is about the only place in ohio you can consistantly see tourists from places like the middle east, Japan, and India.
And yet still... it is not as known as Disney World or Universal studios.
Leto Atrides
05-28-2006, 11:00 PM
Disney World and Universal are more an actual vacation destination, whereas places like Cedar Point are either a day trip or a "while you're in the area..." sort of thing. That may be part of it.
8Ball2/JanG5
05-28-2006, 11:18 PM
This is because Disney World and Universal have more elaborate attractions, Disney World is large since it's a group of parks, and their is more to do for both adults and family, and even more to do for adults right around the area.
But Cedar Point gets a little bit of that sort of love, there are some hotels there and as I said some people do come across the world to visit there.

They should call this place Intentional Boob-Brush Land (http://www.lagoonpark.com/explore_rides.php).
It is my childhood. It is my teen age.
All year long, you'd wait for "Lagoon Day", knowing full well that to the girls who were now allowed to wear shorts, the freedom of roaming around a re-created Pioneer Villiage and "needing" to ask one of us to ride in one of the 2-man cars...was a powerful aphrodesiac.
Plus, they had a "Horror Ride" AND "Dracula's Castle.
YES
One funny thing is that, in a fit of nostalgia, my ex-fiance and I decided it'd be fun to go to Lagoon. On the way there we got into a huge, nasty fight.
We didn't know that after all these years Lagoon had put in one of these "they take a picture of you without asking, then show it to you and if you want it on a T-shirt or in a little plastic viewer you just have to pay them $20" - Things.
So we walk in TOtally pissed off at eachother, wanting to turn around and go home, and this freak steps up and takes our picture and yells "SMILE!"
So I bought it 'cause it's hilarious, in this colorful place with all these frolicking kids and balloons and cotton candy behind us and then Me in a KISS T-Shirt and black jeans and her in a black tank top and black jeans and we both look homicidally pissed off.
ahh...the memories.:)

So, no love for Busch Gardens-Williamsburg? I can't begin to tell you how many hours I spent there growing up. And most of my friends would put a few bucks towards tickets for me so that they could get right to the front of the lines, since I'm missing my leg.

It was like a mini-cosmic payback when we went to Disneyland and walked past all the sweating suckers in line as if we were the President or Oprah Winfrey or something 'cause he's in a wheelchair. Hahaha, I forgot about that.
In fact, after seeing those preposterously long lines, I don't know that I'd ever care to return to Disneyland without a wheelchair-bound person.

I've been to a lot of Amusement Parks in the US, and from my perspective, the best is Cedar Point. CP really trumps them all in dignified fashion. I've thoroughly enjoyed the proper performance of the park in its entirety.
I reside in MI, and try to make it to CP as often as I can to take advantage of moment. As a side, sometimes I go to Put-N-Bay while enjoying a Cedar Point weekend for an additional activity.

Mickey Mouse owns you all.
I was at six flags "great adventure" last friday...
yeh 4th of july weekend, i know. but i had two secrets...
#1... New england floods kept some folks away
#2 Gold flash pass.
now #1 is cold hearted but alot of my family is in binghamton, they were hit hard... i know this is like saying "but i got black freinds", still i dont care it helped with the lines
now.... #2 i swear i dont want to even mention this in hopes that no more people buy these things. we got to the park early and RAN to the place that sold these FIRST...
oh yeh, along with 100 or so other people! people were walking by looking in the window wondering what the hell we were doing in the dinky flashpass shop. and most of the people were getting the regular one so you could reserve your spot in line without waiting in it. cool for them
but we went nutz and bought the gold, it made 2 1/2 hour long line waits into 15 minute waits OUTSIDE the line.
me and my brother rode 26 coasters in ONE day... on FORTH OF JULY WEEKEND! thats the difference@!#% well worth the extra money.
Now, screw cedar point... almost always huge line waits, its in ohio and theres not much else to do outside of the park, and the rides are great but with rides like six flags great adventure im not venturing over there to hop on a few...
especially when El toro has the steepest drop angle of any wooden roller coaster on the planet, kingda Ka is the TALLEST AND FASTEST COASTER on the planet...however it only lasts 50 seconds. you are scared out of your mind the first time, and you really dont ever get completely used to it... i went on it 5 times and everytime i was still much more nervous then i was on any other ride...
i mean its 0-130 in 3 seconds! then it goes straight up 460 feet... at that speed! then it hangs at the top cause some designer is a twisted bastard! and then you spiral fall towards the ground for 460 feet! it doesnt matter that its short... its retardedly awesome. and it has an extra hop at the end that the top thrill dragster doesn't.
the medusa floorless was cool, long ride, very snake-like in that it fluidly spins around and coils and turns
the Nitro might have been our favorite because the lap bar thing made you feel as though you were going to fall out, it was made that way... it only secures your thighs, not your waist... 80 miles an hour... big drops, we went on this the most, lift your hands and feet if you got balls and you'd swear you were hanging on by a thread, floatin
american scream machine, batman the ride, batman and robin... all decent coasters, awesome to take your girlfreinds on and they'll act like you when you went on kingda Ka (btw i think that name is crap...)
disclaimer to the ladies... there were definately brazen risk-taken females on the kingda ka but they were far outnumbered by guys, who btw, screamed like little girls on this thing... i simply cant tell you how many times i was sitting next to a dood who had to leave his girlfreind behind.
lucky enough to trick mine into the front seat! i told her it was a different coaster that went next to the kingda ka... she looked over and saw medusa and waited with me for the frontseat and got in. MWAHAHAHAHA
then she heard the next car pull up and say... you've conquered Kingda Ka. she started to get nervous and i just acted like i had no idea. too late we were rocketing towards the lift.... MWAHAHAHAHA
if i didnt act dumb about it she'd probably still not be talking to me.
Oh, and me and my brother, two 200+ lb 6ft tall kids... beat the **** out of the tea cups, not the crappy kind, but the ones you can spin yourselves, yeh... we braced ourselves with a leg across from each other and made a system of spinning that was...just, wrong. people were laughing, pointin...asking if that was safe, warning their kids not to do it.... but me and my brother were about to throw up cause we got a lil carried away.
Cedar point has got a hell of alot of rollercoasters, definately go there if you havnt been there yet. but remember they dont have fastlanes anymore so waits are nutz, and they dont have El toro or Kingda Ka.

That's awesome, but how the hell did you both fit? I'm smaller than that and I could barely fit me and another even smaller person in it last time I went. Unless I'm confusing Six Flag's teacups with others that are smaller.
What's entertaining is getting 3 fully grown people abreast in the little Himalaya-type coaster.
