One of the most overlooked and as talented as any actor that were mentioned for the Joker role.

Think that he can't play a villain role? Watch Taking Lives

Nah... Hulme and Eccleston are better actors for this role.

Ethan Hawke would've made a great Matt Murdock, but a horrible Joker.
I don't see the point of this thread, unless you want to create a new role for him.

This picture has Dent written all over it, rather then Joker....

He's small enough to fit in most overhead storage bins. He is too short to be Dent or the Joker. Dent has to be around Batman's height, and Joker must be taller than Batman. The choices we have out there, (Dent: Jackman, Lucas, Shrieber and The Joker: Hulme, Bettany, Eccelson, Depp) are all better casts for the role than this man.

What makes you say that? Joker is supposed to be tall and lanky, but not anymore than Batman. It would defeat the whole purpose of Batman's menacing stage presence. Would Batman be able to intimidate Joker if he had to look up at him? No. Joker would wup his ass.
Watch the animated series, The height proportions are perfect.

Technically in the comics:
Joker Taller Than Batman

Yeah, and don't forget that The Joker does not have Batman's physique. Whereas Batman is buffed up and muscular, The Joker is incredibly scrawny. Plus, in the suit, Batman would measure up to The Joker's height.
I liked him in Training Day but thats about it.

It's interesting i've never much like Hawke, but he is solid, i think i just haven't liked his movies more so then his acting (not a training day fan) but i could definatley see it, he seems quite passive as an actor, but that doesn't mean he can't be active ether

he would make a fine joker and everyone knows it. it's not a particularly hard role to fill -- these are all comic book characters and everyone's playing pretend anyway. he's a good actor and if he had to play an insane madman, he probably could fill the role just fine; everyone's bias just shows, that's all.

The character Wolverine is being played by an actor that is actually one foot taller, yet everybody seems to be fine with it. And now, an actor that is only a few inches shorter than Dent or Joker's real heights is gonna bother people? Where's the logic?
Alfred is shorter than Bruce in the comics but in Batman Begins, he's a bit taller, did it affect the fans hugely then? I don't think so
And for the record, Johnny Depp is not tall either

Joker in the comics is 6'5". So yes, he should be taller.

Are we talking about the same guy? Bettany is incredibly charismatic and has a great voice.

I'm not biased. I'm a supporter of Eccleston but I haven't been shoving it down everyone's throats. I'd have to see Hawke in a movie with kind of a similar role to see if he can do it. Based on the pics I saw more Dent than Joker.
okay ... then when you see michael keaton, you see bruce wayne?

Wow. I wish i'd known that height was the only factor that mattered in fighting. Regardless of weight, strenght, or training, anyone tall could wup the ass of anyone shorter than them. Right?
Wrong. Joker is taller than Batman, but he's also scrawny as hell. He's far less physically imposing than Batman. He also hasn't had the training Batman has, nor is he is well built or as strong. I also wouldn't say that Batman reallly has to look up at Joker, the height difference is like an inch (and the ears essentially make Batman the taller one anyways).
Basically, among other things that Bettany has going for him, his height and build are also perfect for the Joker. I wouldn't say it's a neccessity for a Joker candidate to be taller than Batman, but it certainly adds a few points.

What's all this hype about height? Here's four reasons:
1. As long as he has acting ability, who gives a f**k?
2. They can use the camera to make him appear taller.
3. As long as he has acting ability, who gives a f**k?
