I know some of you may think Im crazy but I want to see the extremis in Iron Man. I think the storyline was unique...and its different view on terrorism, and it was just plain cool.
but I wouldnt mind Jon going for the classic villains

Considering this is an origin film, I don't think we'll see the Extremis. :)
It'll mainly focus on who Stark is in the film, and why he built the Iron Man suit. I really really want Madarin but it's not happening. So I'm hoping for Crimson Dynamo!

Crimson Dynamo is really the villain I see Iron Man facing, especially if there's a fight sequence which transpires all the way toward the New York skyline. Justin Hammer as well, could be Stark's industrialist rival who's behind the Crimson Dynamo creation. Or, like in the comics, he creates a device which enables him to control Iron Man's armor, in which Iron Man himself must find to way to overcome it.
Honestly though, I have complete faith in whoever Favreau has planned for him to go up against...

I really don't care who the villain is (even if it is Howard Stark) just as long as this film doesn't turn into HULK.

Justin Hammer, Spymaster, The Ghost, with the Iraq situation Firebrand revamped could be cool. Iron Man has a huge rogues gallery.

i m hoping for
#1 Crimson Dynamo - it can be realistic enough, and well done. plus theres good breeding ground to set it up in the war flashback/intro.
#2 this is my 'i wish' pick: Whirlwind. i just always loved the character.
hopefully only one villain though.

That's the way I'd go. Either Justin Hammer or Obidah Stane as the money and Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man as the muscle.

Although I love Iron Man more than I can say, I've not read very much at all, and I know very little about Iron Man's collection of enemies. Can someone sum up Crimson Dynamo as succinctly as possible for me please?
To be honest I wouldn't mind Favs not using any of Iron Man's old enemies and coming up with a new threat just for the movie. Having Tony fight terrorists linked to his war weapons dealings would be great for me, but then I don't know enough about his history to really want a particular villain up there.
I'd rather not see a Tony copy, another billionaire industrialist, with a similar suit ripped off from Iron Man tech. It just seems too obvious and lazy to me.

Crimson Dynamo has actually had several pilots, but essentally he is a Soviet Union Hero, he and Iron Man fought offen during the cold war, Dynamo was never really as powerful as Iron Man, but held his own. Dyamno actually made a recent appearence in the current run in issue #8, he robbed a bank, how the mighty have fallen.

I think Firebrand would be an interesting and topical villian for an Iron Man film. What with the threat of terroism from abroad, to have an American build a suit of armor not iunlike Tony's to wreak havoc on the US, it could make for an interesting plot. It's probably unlikely, though, b/c Firebrand wasn't a very popular villian, was he?

That would be cool, but the great thing Jon Favreau pointed out is Iron Man will not be restricted to one city, like he said Iron man isn't Spider man who is a New York hero, Iron Man is a global hero, imagine him and Dynamo fitting it out over the Atlantic Ocean and maybe fighting each other in London and then back to Washinton, the current Iron Man armor can do Mach 7.7 reaching London from New York would take long for him, just a thought.

I would like justin hammer to be the main villain, him takin on stark on the business side and sendin out goons for iron man. For that i'd like either crymson dynamo or titanium man.

Yes, Crimson Dynamo would be perfect and the name is less juvenile then Titanium Man. Iron Vs Titanium is one too many "man" names.
Extremis was an awful read. Maybe I'm too old school but I hated the need to update his origin and place it in Afghanistan. I know it's necessary for the film to do something like this but it wasn't necessary at all in the books. I haven't read a decent Iron Man solo story in about five years now.
I agree with the majority...Crimson Dynamo with Justin Hammer pulling the strings.

That story arc in the late 120's was the best set of iron man stories ever.

FirePower...
Too bad it would be impossible to do the Armor Wars in a movie.
When Toeny stuick the Gadget on him to fry his circuits..and it did nothing..... we all knew it was going to be the worst fight in Ironmans life.
The idea of a little man in a gigantic Titanium suit of Armor is kinda comical IMO... not good for a movie.

I'd still like to see Mandarin in some shape or form. Not a Fu Manchu looking deal, but just make him a Chinese archaelogist or businessman that discovers the power of the rings or creates them of his own accord, and they slowly corrupt him with delusions of granduer and world conquest.

I'm actually of the mind that this is the only superhero movie that would benifit from having 3 villians on screen. The main villian to Tony Stark would be Justin Hammer or Stane, who is trying to get ahold of Starks weapon designs. He hires a lower level villian (no real background needed, just tell us his reputation) such as Ghost or Spymaster, who then steals Armor plans from Stark. Of course from this we get the Crimson Dynamo armor (or even Iron Monger so Stane could wear it at the end)

Ghost use's Technology to phase thru solid objects, during that story, Stark was so scared of the Ghost he actually wore is Armor to sleep, so he could be ready to fight him at a seconds notice, very cool villian.

It's all technology, corporate spy type. The Ghost's power not only allows him to become invisible, but intangible also. He can easily pass through objects like walls, and almost seemingly disappears out of thin air. Iron Man found a specific flaw in Ghost's suit, which was when it's exposed to any major electric fields, his entire costume becomes visible.
Like Iron Man's, his suit is cybernetically operated. Except that it's less refined, and he has to focus heavily in order to control his powers.

I can see Ghost being in an Iron Man film. Most likely the chances of him appearing in the first aren't that high, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in a sequel. I like the idea of him working under the impression of Justin Hammer. Particularly because he's Stark's industrialist rival, and has a penchant for getting Iron Man shut down. I think he could work as a main villain if done correctly. If not, perhaps an extended cameo in which Iron Man faces him before the real threat of the film.
The way I see it happening is that Ghost is hired as one of Hammer's top affiliates. Sent to kill and destroy Iron Man anyway he can, with his own abilities. After he and Iron Man square off with Iron Man taking the win, he soon realizes that Hammer is the one pulling the strings. (However the story goes of course.) Then Hammer reveals his latest creation, which is the Crymson Dynamo project to match wits with Iron Man.
I'm personally hoping it is in fact Crymson Dynamo we see. Not that I'd be disappointed with whoever it is Favreau has in mind. I'm willing to give that a chance.

Justin Hammer with some other classic villains from Iron Man's rogues gallery that couldn't carry there own film. From a story perspective using the Ghost or Spymaster with either the Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man for infiltration/fight scenes. Don't really have a real preference since those four characters could easily fulfill the counterpart's role.
