"Mother of Champions, who can give birth to a litter of 25 super-soldiers about every three days."

Uh, wait, what?

Some of those look really cool. Some look just weird. But I'm definitely interested.

Morrison's so weird.

The Celestial Archer reminded me of Hawkeye because of the boots and the loincloth. I wonder if that was intentional.

Morrison's so weird.

Yeah after reading about 3 pages of New X-Men I was like "dude's ****ed up"

It's pretty obvious that he does drugs, but whenever I read something new from him I find myself wondering just how many drugs he uses.

What do you mean they look weird? All I see are characters from popular video games.

Haven't you seen those new Jetta commercials? Stereotypes are bad.

Of course, those new Jetta commercials are pretty bad too. :(

You read Filth?
That **** was a bad trip, man.

Filth is so ****ed up... in so many different ways.

Seems like a typical Morrison team indeed.

Pretty good, too.
I only had to read it like 5 times to understand it.

Morrison actually lived with some stoners when he was younger.

Who hasn't?

The Question
05-30-2006, 07:54 AM
Yeah. Morrison's stuff, especially his more recent stuff, gives off a drugged up feel. Even All Star Superman feels really acid trippy. Then again, most of the silver age Superman books felt really acid trippy.

that and, ya know, the bow....

Mother of Champions may be the edgiest portraying of chinese. I mean, her power is to give birth a lot. She may be the one responsible for China's overpopulation.

No kidding? "Lived with" and probably out-smoked them all, I bet. ;)
that and, ya know, the bow....
Yeah, but that's too obvious. Plus, a lot of other characters carry bows. I get a distinct Hawkeye-ish feeling from the Celestial Archer, though.

I still don't believe that.

He had an interview with Wizard, where the reporter followed him and Frank Quitely around. There is a comment in the article about the thick marijuana smoke.

I'm sure he is trying to act like any actor and denying that he does any sort of drugs. You can almost feel it in his writing that he's been smoking pot and eating mushrooms.

Red Guardsman looks like Hulkbuster Iron Man.

TheCorpulent1
05-30-2006, 09:49 PM
Yeah, but his description sounds more like the Squadron Supreme's Nuke than anything else.

To me Red Guardsman looks almost exactly like Crimson Dynamo from the Ultimates. Can anyone post a pic, cuz I'm not too familiar with the specifics, but that photo up there looks to me like Hitch should sue.

There's certainly a resemblance.

Wow. There's a really, really strong resemblance, actually.

The Question

And, Ultimate Crimson Dynamo is Chinese. Coincidence?

I actually didn't notice at first, but yeah, that's awfully blatant.

Purple Man

If you think that is crazy.

Iron Man and Steel are both American..

They both can't have armor and be from the same country or else it's a blatant rip off..

Discuss amongst yourselves..

Except Iron Man and Steel don't look similar.

I have to ask, who was jonesing for this series? Does anyone really expect it to succeed. The only reason it's going to sell anything at all is because its Morrison doing it.

I'm all for new ideas, but this one seems way too out there to be any kind of long term series.

TheCorpulent1
05-31-2006, 11:41 PM
It seems kind of like it should've been a Vertigo series because of the weirdness of the ideas, but Vertigo doesn't do superheroes so it got bumped down to the mainstream DC universe instead. I have a feeling it'll be one of those things that, if Morrison ever turned it over to other writers, it'd crash and burn pretty badly. Much like Hypertime and the Martian Manhunter's new "psychological" fire weakness, I think only weirdos like Morrison and Waid and Kelly can pull this off right.

These guys are going to be in 52, I don't think there is any plans for them to have their own series.
