That Ian is going to play Mags in Magneto and X 4 will more than likely have Cykes...he was "killed" off screen so they can bring him back.

I got to chat to John Bruno who did the FX on X3. He said that Cykes was going to get fried on screen but because they want him to return for X4 they didnt show it...thus leaving the fans thinking he dies. Also the soho company who worked on the de aging FX is starting to prep ready to do MAgneto.How much Ian is going to be in the film is unknown but it came from Johns mouth.."I spoke with Ian at Cannes last night and he is excited about doing the Magneto film".
FYI I had 1 1/2 hrs with John at a bar in London.

They will say no X-Men 4 for now because they stuck 'The Last Stand' on the end of X-Men 3 so people will obviously see it as a marketing move. Give it a few months.

OK here is the story. They ran a competition called X Squad. The prize was an early screening of X3 in London at a hotel called Charlotte Street. It was the easiest thing IMO so my wife and I went with about 30 other winners. After the film John stayed to answer Qs from everyone. When all had left and he and the Fox rep were going to leave I asked them if they would join me and my wife for a drink. We sat for about 1 1/2 hrs chatting about films etc. I cant believe all the movies he has done..he won an oscer for Titanic! I was lucky really as he gave more time to me than most reporters

No Im joking. Of course Im serious. I even got his autograph on a bloody coaster! They gave us some cool X3 pictures but they were laminated so he couldnt sign it so I had to get a coaster from the bar.

He asked if I was pissed off that some of the characters died the way they did. I said that Mystiques demise was rubbish but Cykes didnt bother me. I asked why we didnt see him die and he explained why. He reads Shh and said he loved the site.

No. I then told him I thought the film was too short and the effect it had was it made the film a bit too quick and badly paced.

I think it would be stupid to do a Magneto film without Ian. The general public are only familiar with Ian as Magneto and I think if it was with a younger actor it wouldnt do as well...unless they get a name..

I can vouch for him! I also won the competition and spoke to John Bruno before Antony. We didn't really talk about much though, he said that Phat was cut out of the final battle and there's a load of outtakes of the X-Men doing the Macarana before the Alcatraz battle. It was him who told me Patrick Stewart played the brain dead body (his twin brother), and that was confirmed a couple of days ago by Patrick himself.

If Antony was to lie, then surely he'd pick someone you're more likely to know, like the writers or producers, but no. John Bruno is quite respected anyway, he's been nominated for at least 5 Oscars!!

Well IMO plain stupid. In reality it was because he was doing Superman. If I were Ratner I would have had him return at the end when Wolvie is trying to stop Jean. He should have been the one to kill JG.

Then you have to ask yourself this question; Why was James doing Superman in the first place?

Answer: Fox waited way too long to greenlight X3 so of course the actors were going to take other jobs. They have to keep their names out there and they have mortages and such to pay for. Of course, he's going to take another job when it looks like Fox is stalling for no apparent reason considering the type of money X2 made.

And death reversals happen a lot in movies, too. Like Jean in X2. Or Arnold in the first Terminator. Or Jack Palance in City Slickers! :joker: Scott would be much easier to bring back than any of those characters.

I don't mind death reversals as long as it plausible.

Scott's death was solely for trying to get an emotional response out of the audience, but it has not emotional connection to the storyline whatsoever. It's just there.

And now, they're going to reverse it in the fourth film? It's cheap.

No-one really dies in the X-universe. They always die and come back in the comics. I don't see why they can't do it in the movies. As long as the reasons for bringing them back are damn good, then I don't mind.

I think that could be easily written off as "Jean didn't know what the hell she was doing or saying at that point." She knew she'd done something to Scott, but wasn't completely sure what it was.

Or it could've been the Phoenix, pretending to be "Jean," telling a bald-faced lie to make Logan think she's one bad mutha - heck maybe she thought it would turn him on ("I killed my other lover to be with YOU").

As far as revearsing a death, Scott's is pretty easy. But you're certainly correct, JokerNick, when you suggest that such "death revearsals" take away the impact of any comic (or movie) death. When they kill off a character these days in the Marvel Universe, I just shrug and assume he/she will be back in a few months or years at the most.

Marvel had a long-running unwritten policy that there were really only two dead characters that could absolutely not be brought back: Peter Parker's Uncle Ben, and Captain America's first partner, Bucky Barnes. But apparently they've even brought Bucky back in the last year or so, and some other-universe Uncle Ben is running around the Spidey comics this month, so no one is safe from being plucked from The Choir Invisible in Marveldom! Now it's creeping into their movies, too!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Bruno just an effects supervisor? How would he have such information on projects for which a solid script hasn't even been turned in?
