However, showing the SM3 teaser with Talledega Nights would have been unusually early for a Spidey teaser as well. Perhaps the awesome opening weekend numbers for X-Men 3 gave Marvel/Sony the shot in the arm they needed to crank up the hype machine early.

I'll need to hear more confirmation before I believe it however.

First off, I asked him about the teaser trailer and I said, it's coming with Talladega Nights right? Before I finished asking the question, he said Superman. And I said what? Because you guys at Superhero Hype! said Talladega nights. Then Sam Raimi himself said Superman, and there was another man listening who confirmed that. But then Sam said well I don't know what "they're" doing but they told me Superman Returns. Keep a look out.

Why is everyone saying that it's too early for a teaser; that it will just be clips of text or Spidey swinging around? Don't you guys remember the teasers for the last two films? They were better than trailers for most movies! The teaser for the first film had a helicopter stuck between the Twin Towers and the teaser for the second film had MJ asking Peter if he loved her (right before Doc Ock throws a taxi through the window). I expect the coming teaser to be no less in caliber. I'm stoked!

I doubt it. they usually do that to help get the word out that the movie is coming. everybody and their mother knows this movie is coming out, so it would really be a waste of money to pay for that kind of advertising. When Church was casted for this movie, and when he was revealed as Sandman, even MSNBC news covered it. I'm not joking.

so that kind of teaser wouldn't effect excitement at all, however a teaser that shows awesome special effects like Sandman for example would get people real excited. a lot of people know this movie is coming, but managed to avodi finding out Sandman was in it. when they see this in the preview and they see Sandman, that will make everybody say "Damn! I need to see this movie." Remember Raimi was quick to point out that Venom wont be in the preview. If nobody was going to be in the preview than Raimi wouldn't have even bothered to say that.

I predict a teaser about as long as the teaser for spider-man 2. The theatrical trailer will come out around february.

I remember seeing a clip of the spidey/doc ock fight scene with aunt may at least 8 or 9 months before the movie even came out.....it may have even been a year....AOL had it on the welcome screen and I remember saying....wow...thanks for teasing me almost a year away...

Like I said in another thread, it's a pretty solid deal. S-M3 has been shooting since the very beginning of 2006, and they surely have enough good footage that they can throw together, that will give us some clue about what this dang movie is about! Besides, it probably won't be more than a minute or so long! It could just be something like..."Sony/Columbia logos, Marvel logo, Peter swings by in the black suit, SPIDER-MAN 3, 5-4-2007..."

Actually the infamous WTC spidey teaser came out a year before the film did. After 9/11 the teaser was pulled for obvious reasons, although I think you can still find it on the internet.

Well, there are non-target audiences- and then there are NON-TARGET audiences.

By that I mean, there are audiences that may not initially be interested in films like Spidey, and there are people who will NEVER be interested in films like Spidey.

Talledaga Nights looks like it's meant to appeal to the "Dukes of Hazard" audience. Some of which I'm sure are into Spidey, but some of which aren't.

Now Superman, on the other hand appeals to a wider range audience. People who don't care about superheroes per se are still going to see Superman. So attaching the Spidey trailer to that, expands the possible audience. Perhaps getting back some of the audience that they lost after Spidey 1.

If Sony goes with Talledaga and avoids Supes- yes, WE- the Spidey fans will be packed into TN's opening weekend for the trailer. But there's a huge audience that won't give a damn and certainly won't be there, that likely would be there with the SR opening.

And clearly, if Sam is saying it will be attached to SR, it's something being discussed and aimed for. Likely the only problem is having it ready in time.

This isn't like Superman Returns and Spidey 3 are in competition this summer. Spidey 3 is a whole year away. Attaching it to SR is a good move.

And I think they'll show a little more than just scenes from the first two. I know they'll definately show some shots that don't need any CGI whatsoever.

The real question is... have they started with any CGI as well as editing as they continue principal photography?

It's too soon, they've never released a teaser this early in production. For Spidey 2, they started filming in January and we didn't get a TEASER until December.

I didn't like that trailer at all. Kirsten looks stoned through the whole thing. I also didn't like the abrubt changes in the music. The whole thing was just sloppy...especially compared to the superb SM2 final trailer.

yeah, I instantly remembered how excited I was back when that came out after seeing that preview again. Seeing Doc Ock was like a dream come true for me. The only sad part was Alfred Molina shares an uncanny resemblance to my sister's horrible imp of a boyfriend, so I kept thinking of him in that role lol.

If Raimi has learned anything from the second Spiderman, it should be "less talky and chocolate cake eatey, more fighty with more quippy"

It's only a teaser. We likely won't see all of the villains, and those we do won't be that explicit. At the con, they'll show the posters, maybe a scene from the movie such as Sandman's origin and alot of other things.

Hell, they've been filming the movie since November, right? Well, there was something they were filming that month, I heard it was a huge action scene they wanted to get out of the way.

And while filming, they could be editing too, because if they have alot of special effects they need to do on the computer, they need as much time as possible to get it all done and released by May 4 (my friggen Birthday!).

They'll have something to put into the teaser, it just won't be FX heavy, like Spider-Man 2's.

No. Studios don't always release a trailer online at the same time they release it in theatres. Usually yes, but not always. Sometimes a trailer doesn't show up online until a few days or weeks later.

ok, but look at how much closer to the release of the movie that was. SM2 came out in...june? july? so from teaser to release was december to june/july (i'm not sure on that one).

this teaser to movie is july to next may, if the release doesn't get pushed back. that's quite a bit longer, and i highly doubt they'll show as much as they did in the SM2 teaser.

I can't really picture anything for the trailer i just want to see it. But an ending of it i want to see is, the rooftop of a building showing down new york city with sirens making noise and you see spiderman in the black suit get up with the symbiote symbol and it just end off with "THAT" logo with a 3 on the bottom.

ok, but look at how much closer to the release of the movie that was. SM2 came out in...june? july? so from teaser to release was december to june/july (i'm not sure on that one).

this teaser to movie is july to next may, if the release doesn't get pushed back. that's quite a bit longer, and i highly doubt they'll show as much as they did in the SM2 teaser.

Yeah, but they want the audience to be pumped for this movie. Spidey 2 did well, but I'm sure they wanted it to do better (It got skunked by Shrek 2). that's why they're giving Sam all the time and money he needs to make Spidey 3 great. And I think it'll be as meaty as the teaser for Spidey 2. It isn't as though they don't have enough footage. Regardless, I seriously doubt they'd bother with a logo teaser.
