it was cool, but agreed to you both, too short

Good game, but as mentioned it was too short. I'm hoping the next incarnation is a bit longer, as well as not being so linear. I'd like more freedom in using Batarangs, grapples, etc.

The Begins game had it's decency, but it could have been longer. The next game should be more of a free roam type game, where the players are actually capable of going to Gotham's key locations. Along with having the use of a lot of the main gadgets, and being able to continue/start different missions whenever they please. Also, having the ability of using the Bruce Wayne identity for some small missions. Like visiting Wayne Enterprises at anytime.

I have a feeling with the sequel, we're going to get that. The demand for it is insane.......plus, with the survey EA took at the website....I think we're going to get a free roam Batman with the next installment.

I don't mind waiting for the next one, even if it does take two years to follow up with the sequel. Considering if it is free roam, they'd have all that time on their hands to put together a great game for the next generation consoles.

Overall, I thought it was just mediocre. But considering it was a movie game, and one made by EA at that, I think we're sorta lucky it's as good as it is.
I played a little bit of it. It was lame, too much stealth, too linear, just not very fun.

Plus.....they got alot of things right with the game.
The mood, for example was perfect. I mean, it was dark, moody, and really tense design in the visual department. They just need to bring it to the next level.

Yeah.
But, it followed the movie to a T. If they had added some other villians, it would have been so much longer.

Was a cool game..actually my fave lol (yea, I rarely play video games)
I wish there were more Batmobile levels that you can unlock as secrets or something. Also if it were a bit more like Hitman so you can take multiple paths etc.
Was a great game nonetheless

I agree. As an adaptation the BB game is great--the non-movie levels still have that Bb feel to them, as does the original dialouge in the game.
Like others here, for the BB2 game I hope to see the tone and style of the BB game mixed with the expansive gameplay of the SR game.

as you have said, the next game NEEDS to be free-roam. i liked the Begins game, but it was a little boring at times, and it wasn't "free" enough. Batman should be able to swing around Gotham and help out citizens in needs at night (much like SM2 game) and you're base/save game area could be wayne manor/the batcave, where you could pick up the tumbler and take it for a spin.

Another thing that I didn't like about the game, was that they didn't have Gary Oldman's voice, so Gordan couldn't be in it. He doesn't let himself be in merchandise, like this but maybe EA could pay him money for allowing his voice to be used in BB 2 the game or something.
Swordmaster

...Gordon WAS in the game, though. Gary Oldman just wasn't the voice

06-11-2006, 07:23 PM
Yeah....and it isn't saying much that it's the greatest Batman game either....but hey, it is.
It's a fun game, though. I mean, I've laid off of it for a while...but I played a bit of it yesterday again....and I just think it's fun. It needs more skin on it's bones though, and it's too bad Oldman didn't wanna do the voice and stuff.
I think it will get better though, and man.....that's just awesome to think about.
I didn't like it. It was basically the same old bull**** I've come to expect from EA Games.
The animations were horrible. The graphics were mediocre. Most of the voice acting sucked. Could've been a superb game if it was handled by a better team.

Yeah, but BTAS game was better.
Begins is best Next-Gen game for sure, though.
I thought the graphics were great, the controls were solid.
The voice acting was great......when it was actors speaking. Bale, Caine, Neeson, Murphy, Freeman, even Holmes sounded great...but everyone else not so good.
The music was a little much too, over the top almost.

The Adventures of Batman & Robin for the SNES is my favorite Batman game.
Oh, too true. That is an awesome game, just in the fact that you get to fight virtually every villain from the TV show. I love that game.
I think a BB2 game with the ability to roam the city as Batman, Bruce Wayne, or even as a disguised Bruce Wayne (like when he's dressed up in a hoodie by the payphone in BB, possibly Matches Malone?) would be incredible. The problem with the BB game was that it pointed out everything you needed to do. You had to go this way and you had to throw a batarang at this exact moment. There was no creativity at all in scaring the henchmen, because it was all predetermined.
The Godfather game is a nice template they could build on. If anyone here has played that game, it's such a vast playing field and could be a direction these gamemakers could take. As you gain status in the mob world, people on the street change their language from "Get out of the way kid" to complimenting you. To see Gotham citizens acknowledge Bruce Wayne on the street, to walking past Wayne in disguise, to fearing/ laughing at the Batman (depending on your useage of his skills) would be soooooo incredibly cool.
There could be a batsignal icon on the bottom of the screen that indicates your Batman services are needed. You could be at a party as Bruce Wayne and see the icon and have to leave. You meet Gordon and he tells you what you have to do. Obviously Wayne is a billionaire and he can get whatever supplies he needs easily, but maybe if you complete a checkpoint you go to Lucius Fox and he supplies you with updates.
Again, this sounds ambitious, but that's what I'd want to see in a Batman game. People would go gaga for this game.

I too think the game is decent. Many cool things about it (the atmosphere, the cast), but many terrible things as well. I'm stuck on a part in the middle that I just CAN NOT get past. I've tried it at least 15-20 times, and have pretty much given up. I must be doing something incorrectly.
Maybe I'll get back into it in a few months, after I cool off.

Batman and robin for PS1 was probably technically the best overall experience as batman, it got the basics of teh character perfect for what could be done. the detective angle was there, fighting, solving stalking and whatnot. nobody here has played it so i guess they wouldnt know. (dont tell me youve played it because i know you havnt) lol. check it out though, it takes roughly a couple of years to get the hang of and complete.
batman begins was good, but it was a bit too goofy.

hahaha....Batman and Robin got everything wrong. It was a nice idea.....but it was actually unplayable.
BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES GAME is probably the best game ever, it got alot of things right. From chasing the Joker, to solving the Riddler's puzzles, to detective work in a museum.
Best Next-Gen game though.....Batman Begins.
The sequel will be better, I think. Not bad for a first attempt, for sure.
I notice everyone hates EA too........why the hate?

by unplayable you mean youve never actually "played" it. exactly proves my point. lol
B&R is a fantasticly designed game, the controls are very bad on a normal point of view, but if you take the time to learn them, and UPGRADE your abilities, the controling is ALOT easier. maybe ill post a youtube video of me playing, and I can show you how you can manhandle people like batman is suppose to. (as far as burton-verse goes) :)
EA was testing the waters with Batman Begins. that game WAS SUPPOSE to be free roam to an extent, but they had a deadline to meet so they scrapped the idea. Batman 2 will 97% likely be free roam.

I really enjoyed the game, personally... I can't understand why it got such unsavory reviews.
The stealth... the fear meter... everything worked great.
And the voice acting was amazing... lots of bonus features, too.
I hope the bad reception of the first game doesn't stop them from giving the sequel's game full attention.

My favorite batman game is Batman Vengeance the game on ps2, x-box, and gamcube. BB the game okay, it took me two or three weeks to beat it. The sequel game has to be longer. I'd have to agree with everyone, free-roam is the way to go. Four shots in BB the game and you're dead. I want you to have to use stealth in BB 2 the game, but less of it and not throughout the whole game.

well, techniccally it isnt a "time limit" its the time of night just going by naturally. you have about 3 hours each day. seriously though, the ONLY 3 missions you have to do in this game are the final battles with freese, ivy, and then with freeze and bane. otherwise, you could just chill out. ORRR you could know your role and actually be batman. im sure batman has tons of free time on his hands aswell. you get plenty of time in between missions to chill out, but you have to use the time wisely as your in the middle of solving mr Freezes crimes, and you expect him to give you a break? come on. theres no time limit, the game is non lineaner, you have 9 hours to do whatever you want pretty much, throughout the game.
but yes, i dont want to get into any type of argument, lol. That game technically got alot right though.
splinter cell is over rated haha, and to a certain extent was used in batman begins. but they didnt get it right. if the splinter cell engine was more fluid, and sped up for batmans agility, that would be your option on how you press the analog stick.theres definatly alot that could work. Batman needs his own unique engine though, for teh cape, the utility belt, the hand to hand combat moves need to be out of this world.

C'mon....first there wasn't one.....now technically it's not one.
If you couldn't solve the crimes within the said time, game over. That's a time limit.
9 hours is like nothing for a videogame, that's got to be atleast about a week's worth of gaming. But, the problem was the controls....the batmobile was too hard to control, not to mention the roads were too narrow.
but yes, i dont want to get into any type of argument, lol. That game technically got alot right though.
Maybe, it it's outweighed by how much it got wrong. It had some right ideas, but everything else....along with being based on the movie....hold it back.
