Not really. Not every director is as bad as Joel Schumacher with superhero movies.
Sam Raimi is not the ONLY director on the face of the earth who can make a decent Spider-Man movie.Frankly I'm certain there's others out there who can do better.

I thought J.J. Abrams did a great job on MI:3. There was well done action with a real story and a great villian.
If Sam left, my vote might go to him. But honestly, I never want Raimi to leave the franchise.

i'm sure they will make a ton of money off of SM3...i hope that whenever sam is done with the franchise they don't wait like 8 or 9 years to make a new one or come up with a reinvention or spider-man 2099 crap in order to bypass the issue of new actors/director

And "Unbreakable" is one of the best superhero movies of all time. I MEAN IT. See it - it'll blow your mind.

dudes joe carnahan!!!! he just wrapped up smokin' aces which word has it is a fantastic film, and narc was really intense. he is a very dramatic director that knows how to simplify complicated situations (narc) and from what I have read really knows how to keep the adrenaline going (smokin' aces)... hes a new director who can live up to the job for delivering the perfect spiderman movie...not to mention the studio wouldnt have to pay high price

I think they should stop the franchise if Raimi leaves, he's good at what he does, then why change?

I think they should stop the franchise if Raimi leaves, he's good at what he does, then why change?Because those movies will always be there, in the permanent consciousness. I think a director's departure, while sad, shouldn't halt the creative development of a seasoned franchise character like Spider-Man.
Sam Raimi directs Spider-Man in a certain style that is very popular and pleasing to many. I believe it fits really well. But it doesn't mean that someone else's style WOULDN'T work. You never know.

still My vote is for cameron. He's wanted to do it for years and I love his movies. So after three successful films, he might as well be given a shot at his dream while raimi takes it easy for a while and makes the gift 2. I truly believe he'd take spidey to an entirely new level of kickass. I mean as if GOD came down from above and made a spidey movie with Seriously good action and story.

Peter Jackson. Classic.No. No no no no no no no no....*three hours later*...NO!
I do NOT want a three and half hour long Spider-man movie, thank you very much. I liked the way he handled the Lord of the Rings, but he went into insanely-over-indulgent mode with "King Kong".
You know the original, classic King Kong was only an hour and half long? What in God's name gave Peter Jackson the idea to make it twice that length?
No for me. Dude's a fanboy with too much money on his hands.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:down:(I was joking. Really.
I was referring to a plotline in the HBO show "Entourage", where James Cameron, whose last four movies had to do with water, was doing an Aquaman adaptation and was casting the main character as the lead.

I agree Joss would have Spidey verbally lashing every bad guy on the continent. Bring on the quips from Spider-Man.

if raimi leaves after 3...and if 4 would deal with kraven and the lizard, get david fincher, especially if they do kraven's last story...fincher would be perfect for the dark storyline

I read Camerons script on a website, It was utterly retarded. Peter Parker should not be saying the words "Ballz" or "I'm gonna kill you motha*bleep*er!!" (no joke, he actually said that), Electro should not be called something as dumb as "strand", And I'm not even going to talk about what he made Peter do with Mary Jane.
So I say stick with Raimi and the original cast, or dont make any more movies.

I'm hoping Raimi stays for all six.... he's been my favorite director ever since Evil Dead 2, and he's done an amazing job on the Spider-Man movies.
But if they had to suddenly get another director to continue on.... Joss Whedon could work well.

Cameroon's idea for electro was good, but he just couldn't handle peter.
I read his script with Doc Ock as the villian, he called his tenticales Waldos.
I can just imagine a sequal to that script where his tentacles are cut off and ock saying "where's waldos"
