I know I'm a little late on this, seeing as how the SG DC Comics started coming out in late 2004, but I wanted to hear your opinions on only the comics about SG, and you may also talk about the proposed sequel to it.

And please visit my other SG thread where I talk about my movie trilogy ideas for SG. www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229708

Have fun and enjoy!

I loved the new space ghost comic.
I might be the only one who didn't find Space ghost coast-to-coast funny though.
Anyway. I can't wait for the sequel, and Ariel's art was some of the best i have ever seen. and Alex Ross covers sold me even more.
I used to think Space Ghost was lame, but this version made him just plain badass. not only a badass, but a badass with a heart.

SpeedballLives, you read my mind. I friggin love Space Ghost! I always have (with C2C) but after reading some of the 2004/2005 comics, JESUS! He is plain badass! So, I wanted to ask if you support my movie idea or not?

I loved the mini. Bought it when it came out. Can't wait for the sequel. Also looking forward to that Johnny Quest mini they were talking about last year.

Please guys, in the style of MSJ and Jon Favreau, I am asking you (the fans) to help me make a great SG feature film....go to the link in my first post.

Just leave me some comments in the SG movie thread (link in 1st post) and I will try to incorporate them into my story I have developed so far. (which when finished I will post it)

I loved the reimagined Spaceghost, I read back then there would be a sequal but then nothing happend.
So they are doing it, a sequal? I hope so, with the same artist and writer.
I also heard they are doing a Johnny Quest Reimagined (Venture Brothers has sort of done that) and a Herculoids Reimagined.
I would love to read them all, but mostly the Spaceghost sequal.
I want to see Brak, and Motlar as villians.

Venture Brothers would be a really, really bad reimagining of Johnny Quest, given that it's a parody of Johnny Quest.

I liked the Space Ghost mini. I'm not generally a fan of Olivetti, but his comically oversized figures actually worked pretty well for the new, badass Space Ghost the mini presented. I remembered reading something about a sequel, but it was so long ago that I didn't think anything would really come of it. Has there been any further word on whether they're actually going to make a new Space Ghost mini?

I heard they were planning on reimagining alot or all of the Hanna Barbara super type characters, so i guess Blue Falcon would be on of them as well as the other character.
that would be interesting, if not cool, thats if it is true.

Anubis

Yeah, they really should do them all and put them in they're own little universe. The Galaxy Trio, Birdman, the Herculoids. That would be sweeter than bee p***y.

I'd love a line of minis with those. I've always been suprised they never did a live action Johnny Quest movie. Out of all the cartoons that can be a movie....that would be the easiest. It's basically..indiana Jones with kids.

TheCorpulent1

Yeah, the most recent Johnny Quest cartoon did a great job of mixing the adventurous aspects with the family aspect that made the Quest bunch so interesting in the first place. Johnny, Hadji, and Jesse were actually useful in the most recent series instead of just being douchebags who'd do something stupid to piss off the locals, too.

I thought I was the only one who actually liked that recent rendition of JQ. Though, I have to say, I didn't too much dig the CGI stuff they had.

TheCorpulent1
06-08-2006, 09:23 PM
I liked the Questworld stuff. I hated when they switched animation styles for no apparent reason halfway through the series, though. And then they stopped making the Questworld stuff CGI, to boot. I was all excited, waiting to see what badass 3D stuff the Questworld sequence would give me this time, when suddenly they enter Questworld and look... exactly the ****ing same.

Hands down, though, the new Johnny Quest intro is easily the single greatest cartoon intro ever, as far as I'm concerned. The theme music was great, and the fly-over of those unrendered CG hills with clips from the show placed here and there was amazingly well done.

Well, any news on the sequel? I am currently at work on my SG feature film script (which is based on this comic book series) and will be until probably late August, early September. I would love you guys to visit my thread about the movie...(posted link in first post)..and just keep chattin it up!

Also, in the movie thread, you can ask me questions about the story (although I cant give too much away) and you can tell me what you'd like to see. Have fun!

I could never watch the original without cracking up. The African and Asian natives were such stereotypes. That giant spider-eye thing was badass, though.

Venture Brothers does indeed rule. I can't wait for the new episodes to start at the end of this month. I'll probably buy the DVD at some point between now and then, too.

I really liked the new Johnny Quest series. I especially liked the storyline with those hooded aliens. The designs were very well done, and any alien warriors who use glowing golden bows and arrows are badass.

I loved the new series. The new villains were great, and I was pissed when they switched to the second animation style because I never got to see Dr. Zin in the newer, better style. :o

The Question
06-09-2006, 06:35 PM
Wait. Wasn't the crippled guy Dr. Zin? It's been a while since I've seen the new series, so I may be wrong.

TheCorpulent1
06-09-2006, 06:38 PM
No, that was Jeremiah Surd. He was crippled in reality, but he was also a badass computer hacker. He was the Quest kids' primary antagonist in Questworld.

The Question
06-09-2006, 06:46 PM
No, that was Jeremiah Surd. He was crippled in reality, but he was also a badass computer hacker. He was the Quest kids' primary antagonist in Questworld.

Oh yeah, now I remember the name. I forgot it and just assumed that it was Zin. If I remember correctly, he was an old colegue of Benton Quest who went crazy, held a bunch of people hostage with a nerve gas, and got the gas turned on him when Quest tried to stop him, thus crippling him. Right?

Also, I must comment on how freakin' badass Dr. Quest was in the new series. He wasn't "take on an army of ninjas" badass. That's Race. He was "use cleaning products to build a bomb and escape while being held captive and just waltz out like nothing happned" badass. I remember one episode where some terrorists kidnapped him and forced him to apply his new reaserch in cryogenics to create a freeze weapon. When they came to check on him, he had built a huge cannon. They said "this the freeze ray?" He responded "No." He then wipped out a a flash light sized device and froze them solid, and said "that was the prototype."

TheCorpulent1
06-09-2006, 06:53 PM
Yeah, everybody in the new cartoon had their own niches. I loved that. Jonny was the adventurous psycho, basically, Jessie was the heir to Race's badassery, Hadji was skilled with computers, Dr. Quest was basically like MacGyver and Indiana Jones put together, and Race was the badass to end all badasses. No more crap with Jonny just being a loser who got himself into dangerous situations and had to wait for Race to rescue him.

I actually don't remember all the details about Surd. I'll try to look him up.

The Question
06-09-2006, 06:57 PM
I just looked him up. He was a radical terrorist back in the 70s (you know, back when it was the cool thing to be) who threatened to release a bio weapon on Washington DC. Race Bannon, back when he was in special forces, stopped him, crippling him in the process. Surd really had no beef with the Quests to begin with. It was all about getting at Race, who just happened to be their body gaurd.

Ok guys, this isn't the Johnny Quest thread...
It's also not much of a Space Ghost thread given that the previous mini's been discussed to death already and there's no news on the next series, if there's even going to be one. The thread's going to either bounce from topic to topic--and Jonny Quest is at least still related to Space Ghost--or it's going to fall down the pages and never be heard from again.

"Iron Man"

I dont even know that much about Johnny Quest...

TheCorpulent1
06-11-2006, 05:29 PM
He started out as the eleven-year-old son to Dr. Benton Quest, the world's most renowned "phenomenologist" (he investigates any and everything weird), which of course led to a life filled with adventures from the start. Jonny and Benton were accompanied on their exploits by Race Bannon, an ex-spy who quit the government when they started asking him to do spy things that compromised his morals, Hadji, Benton's adopted East Indian son, and Bandit, Jonny's dog. Later, Jonny and Hadji grew into teenagers and Race found out he had a daughter named Jessie, who began living with him and helping the Quests out. It's basically a really good variant on the adventurous family archetype.

Do you remember the opening sequence of New Adventures of JQ?
It was freaking incredible.

The whole show's tone was suprisingly dark. We saw Ezekiel Rage's family die becouse of the goverment. (Best character design ever.)
We saw a drooling crazy cripple as a main nemesis. The opening episode of the new series (Welcome to Questworld) would make an awsome movie.
(It's about Dr. Quest and Race trying to defuse a giant nerve gas bomb in chicago, but getting stuck there, so, before time runs out, the kids try to find the guy who built it in the seventies, who is in the mental institution - the crippled Jeremiah Surd. They offer him a deal and introduce him to Questworld - but it only makes matters worse, because just in a few seconds the doctor is able to take control of the virtual reality, unleashing him on the unsuspecting world.)

In my early teens the New Adventures of Johnny Quest came out and it was just as cool.
Man I love that show.
Any news about it or the characters?

I thin ka live action Johnny Quest or Space Ghost would work, as long as it's not put in some directors hands who claims they "Love" the originals.(ex. Bryan Singer, who stated he never read an x-men comic).
I think fans, true fans, should be given MUCH more power in the creative process. I don't want another cgi heavy, hard to take serious crapfest (ex. Bewitched, Thunderbirds, The Honeymooners, The Flintstones 2)

TheCorpulent1
06-13-2006, 07:16 PM
A live-action Jonny Quest would be great. It could be the Indiana Jones of a new generation. Which would be odd considering the original Jonny Quest cartoons predated Indiana Jones, but whatever.

The Question
06-13-2006, 07:20 PM
A live action JQ might be cool. But I'd rather see a Quest comic. Or really, anything with the Quests. I mean, their stories are like James Bond meets Indiana Jones meets the Fantastic Four. What's not to love?

Speedball

never thought of it that way, but yeah it kinda is like that. and johnny quest comic would rock. I'd buy that.

Hey, if anybodies interested, I got a Brock Samson vs Race Bannon battle going on in the "Ultimate Showdown Thread" over in the Misc. Comics forum.

TheCorpulent1
06-13-2006, 08:40 PM
As much as I love Race, Brock would pwn him. He was created to be a more cartoonishly badass Race, after all.

Anubis
06-13-2006, 08:43 PM
I don't know, Brock's all power, gotta figure Race has the finesse to compete. Of course, Brock did take down the 6 Million dollar man.

The Question
06-13-2006, 08:46 PM
Yeah. But Brock and Race are old buddies. Brock might not be willing to unleash his full, borderline superhuman furry on Race.

Anubis

The Question

Bull, that guy would kill his own mother if she looked at him funny.

Doubt it. Brock, while not a stoftie by any streatch of the imagination, ain't gonna kill people he likes. I mean, remember the whole deal with him freaking out every time he thinks about that time he accidentally killed his best friend?

Anubis
06-13-2006, 08:57 PM
I also rememeber him getting hammered and beating Doc Venture and his friends damn near to death.

The Question
06-13-2006, 09:03 PM
After sinking into a deep depression and, as you said, getting so drunk he probably forgot the whole ordeal the next day. I doubt he would go all out on Race.

Anubis
06-13-2006, 09:06 PM
Still, one hell of a fight. I wonder if Space Ghost could take a Green Lantern?

The Question
06-13-2006, 09:07 PM
Doubt it. GL has more range.

Speedball
06-13-2006, 09:09 PM
dude, that would be amazing. It would be great to see him have some interaction with the DC verse, unless maybe it's a star wars kind of deal, where it exist in it's own universe.

Anubis
06-13-2006, 09:10 PM
More Range? I don't think so. SG's got some serious power in dem there gaunlets.

The Question
06-13-2006, 09:13 PM
I meant range in terms of how much space he can effect. GL can do much more long distance atacks than Space Ghost.

Anubis
06-13-2006, 09:16 PM
How do you figure? He attacks with Beams of energy. Just like a GL with no imagination.

The Question
06-13-2006, 09:21 PM
Yeah. It just seams to me, from what I've read, that GL has alot more range. I mean, Kyle (with more effort than you or I could probably ever conjur, mind you), once pushed an entire city into space.

Speedball
06-13-2006, 09:24 PM

TheCorpulent1

I'd still call you a loon today. GLs have about a thousand times the versatility of Space Ghost.
