From what Zak Penn commented on over at xverse.com recently, it sounded like he definitely is interested in the spinoff and that he's atleast given it some thought (he mentioned characters in it he would like to have). I think he said that he is directing another film now, but he would look into the Young X-Men spinoff more after he's done.

There better be a "Young X-Men" spinoff, because in my mind that's pretty much going to be X4.

Didn't someone post an article about Brett Ratner wanting to direct it too? I skimmed the article real quick, didn't see him single out the Young X-Men spinoff, but someone said it's there.

Young X-Men has the most potential of any of the upcoming spinoffs- I think that should be FOX's real focus in terms of future x-films. BUT "Wolverine" is the only official one as of yet I think..
