Just spoke to Thomas Hayden Church on Opie and Anthony (I asked about Venom)

If anyone was listening around 8:50am earlier this morning I called in and was able to ask a couple questions. I was "Scott from Virginia". I asked him what it's like playing Sandman in Spider-Man 3 and what Venom will look like on the big screen. He said...."Where do you live? I said Virginia. He said "If I told you I would have to come down there and put an anvil on your head" http://sbrooks1.cupofnoodles.com/ohnoes.gif

He went on to talk about how he's been on the film for almost a year and he expected Venom to look like he did in the comic books. He honestly didn't talk like he knew much about Venom at all but he did confirm Venom was in the movie. :up:

It just means he'll look like the Ultimate version of Shocker. The Ultimate comics are Marvel's new line of comics that update the original Marvel universe for modern times and whatnot.

Shocker takes control of the bank. He uses the mayor as a hostage to get the cops off of his back. The cops can't get in, or Shocker will put a hole in the mayor's head, so who appears? Spider-man comes and saves the day. A great opening fight with Shocker, then the mayor is rescued. He is so thankful to be alive, and has seen for himself that Spider-man is the GOODGUY, contrary to the Bugle's reports and declares May 9th SPIDER-MAN DAY (I made up a date). At the ceremony, Spider-man is given a key to the city, and adored by everyone.

Enter the symbiote. The symbiot changes Peter, and makes Spider-man do things that the public doesn't like. That, AND the fact that Eddie Brock is forging pictures to paint Spider-man in a bad light makes the city hate him.

I like what I'm hearing here.

Second, Ultimate Shocker is corn. Totally generic- the ubiquitous Sentinel boots- striped spandex tights and a Michael Jackson jacket from the 80's. Bagley sucks at designing characters.

WTF? Why does Raimi always want to have these scenes where the public embraces/aids Spidey? That's so wrong. Spidey is not Superman or the Fantastic Four. He's not a public hero. It won't make or break the movie, but it just annoys me.

It makes sense. Earlier "spoiler" reports had persons describing the Green Goblin 2's costume as a white snow suit with googles. Well, well, what do we have here? The Shocker who just happens to be wearing almost the exact suit.

It fits. Raimi isn't stupid. There's no way in hell he'd make the Green Goblin 2 where a freaking snow suit and googles.

The early scoops were correct about the costume, they just got the wrong character!

Sorry, but the guy who said he wouldn't have the fangs is one I trusted on many movies before and he never let me down.


And while I hope he's wrong, I don't think he is.

The fangs and tongue are as fundamental to Venom as wallcrawling and webshooting are to Spidey. I refuse to believe that they'd leave those out until I see proof. And someone that said something about them removing the prosthetic fangs and putting some kind of clay over the area only leads me to believe that they're going to do the teeth and tongue digitally which is the way they should do them.

Okay.. I'm the first guy to give the benefit of the doubt. But I'm pretty skeptical about this Shocker thing. First, the guy who posted is new. Second, if he has as little knowledge about comics as he says, why does he know about Hype and the fourth villain?

And if you know Hype- you know about the Ultimate series.

Maybe he's being honest. But it sounds a bit convenient.

Second, Ultimate Shocker is corn. Totally generic- the ubiquitous Sentinel boots- striped spandex tights and a Michael Jackson jacket from the 80's. Bagley sucks at designing characters.

I can see Raimi toning the original Shocker outfit down some. But jeez I hope he looks better than the Ultimate version.
Well, one way or another, he´s a b-list villain who, if appears in the movie, will have a minor role anyway.

You think that while working on the Spider-Man movie, THC hasn't had an opportunity to see what Venom looks like? He said he went out and bought a copy of ASM #4- I'm sure he's seen Venom as well. What he most likely means is that since Venom is so much CGI, he hasn't seen the final results.
