In the latest issue of "Civil War", Peter Parker "outs" himself as Spider-Man, but why? All right both Captain America and Iron Man, who have no known living relatives, have already done so, but why Spidey, who has not just an aunt but a wife to be worried about? Forget for a moment about his enemies like Dr Octopus, remember all the "normal" criminals he's helped send to prison(to say nothing of the likes of the Kingpin or Tombstone who would gladly commission a"hit" on Aunt May or Mary Jane in a new York minute-if not engage in hands on killing themselves)?
I think this a profoundly bad idea!

If you read the comics leading up to the event, you'll have a better understanding as to "why" he might have committed such an act... one that he will regret soon enough.

There's TONS of discussions about this going on at the Spider-Man Comics forum, (and even the Marvel Comics forum) right here on this very site.
