I like freedom of expression and speech over anything I do, even talking about comic books. I don't want Joey Q telling Newsarama, he doesn't want a particular thread out there because it spoils another one of his dip**** ideas

Just to give you folks an idea how much Newsarama is in Marvel's pocket, they have an online poll "What Is Your Reaction to Spider-Man Revealing His Secret ID to the World?" (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74080)
So far the results are:
*Awesome! About time! I can't wait to see where this goes! 664 (18.31%)
*Interesting...Have my reservations, but I'll give Marvel a chance at this. 1442 (39.76%)
*Uh oh... not sure I like this. I fear it could be a bad move. 721 (19.88%)
*How dare they!? Worst thing to happen to Spidey in a long time. Hate it! 497 (13.70%)
*I really don't care strongly either way. 303 (8.35%)

how does it make them in Marvel's pocket just because they don't overwhelmingly hate a story? people do have different opinions, ya know, and they're just as valid as yours.
and anyway, the results of that poll are completely moderate, it doesn't even prove what you're trying to say

True. However, there are far more people on those boards who usually support what Marvel does, so that should be taken into consideration when you look at their polls.
and anyway, the results of that poll are completely moderate, it doesn't even prove what you're trying to say
If you add up choice number 1 and choice number 2 (both of which are essentially mean you accept the unmasking of Spider-Man) compared to choice number 3 and choice number 4 (both of which essentially mean you are against the unmasking of Spider-Man) there are more people on those forums who support the unmasking of Spider-Man than those who do not. Besides, even though option 2 is not quite as supportful as option 1, it still leans more towards unmasking. The real moderate position is actually choice number 5.

Here is another web site that you have to worry about expressing your negative opinion about Marvel at:
http://www.comicboards.com/smb/
I just wrote a long post about critizing Marvel and some of the fans out there and it was mysteriously deleted.
Here is the post that they deleted:
Spare me the whole ‘Taking Spider-Man in a new direction” garbage because we all know that's crap. Joe did not revel Spider-Man’s identity for the sake of the story or the character, he reveled it for shock value and shock value only. You can see that in how lazy the story was written and how badly it was staged. Peter’s reasoning for coming out made no sense what so ever and it goes against everything the character stood and fought for because he always put the lives of his family first and he would never betray them for the loyalty of a friend or the politics of the public. For Peter to do what he did was completely out of character for him because he of all people would have known better to do such a stupid thing.
Its funny to read the dumb arguments some fans make ( if you can call them fans) that what Peter did was in character because of the motto “ With Great Power Comes great Responsibility” but anybody with half a brain would know that if you are one of the most hated super heroes around by bad guys and the public( He was even more hated than the mutants in the marvel universe at one point, so much so that they all thought that he was a mutant and sent X factor after him). Your first and foremost responsibility is to protect yourself and your family. Peter knows this very well with the people he had loss in his life and for him to play Russian roulette with their lives now (especially with him being a public school teacher of all things) is not only out of character but it shows that Marvel did not think this though at all and only did this for shock value.
Now I know that some of you will try to insult me with the dumb argument that I’m a crybaby and I have no life and I don’t embrace change, etc, etc ( The same Zombie mentality that you find in cults or The Republican Party.) but let me tell you something, I have being collecting comics for almost 25 fives years and Spider-Man had always had a special place in my heart and what Marvel did to him is the equivalent of taking Babe Ruth to the middle of Yankee Stadium and blowing his brains out right in front of his fans.
It’s a disgrace and everybody who had a hand in it (including the writers) should be ashamed of themselves.
Now do you think that i went too far?

That doesn't mean anything at all. They could be more towards DC and not really be into Marvel that much, they could be pro-Marvel and not be into Spider-Man that much, or *gasp* they could be into Spider-Man but just have a differing opinion on the unmasking than you.

Also true.

Well perhaps it means one of the following then:
*Who cares! It's going to be retconned in a about a year and a half anyway. Anyone who thinks this is permanent are a bunch of fools!"
*"It's typical of Marvel to pull a stunt like this, so I'm not the least bit surprised."
*"Oh well, it's just a comic book, life goes on and those who read comics are a bunch of morons anyway. Besides, I like the movie better."
*"Spider-Man unmasked in public? When did this happen?"
*"You people are morons. Get a life!"
*"Anyone who picked option 1 or 2 take things WAY TOO SERIOUSLY."
*"What's a comic book?"
Then again, maybe they didn't read the options carefully enough or were too afraid to actually put down a response. Or they could be moderates, which by their very nature do not care one way or the other or try not to take a stand on anything.

So, um... how long have you been with the Nazi party? JOKE. swear. You're mistaking an attempt at not being biased and attempting to be good journalists, while rightfully keeping the current government on their toes as being overly pro-liberal. In contrast it sounds like fox prefers to kiss the governments toes. But hey im going on pop-culture, comedians and the odd Fox network show or broadcast i watch. Over here in li'l ol' england rupert murdoch own our big digital/satellite network BSkyB and theyre alright. theyre news broadcasts win awards and stuff, plu without SkySports the English Premiership (soccer) would be worth **** all.

ProjectPat2280 is a Hurricane fan, not a Florida fan. They're totally different schools! :p I'M a Florida fan, and yeah, I watch Fox news, voted for both Bushes, and do not regret it. So? It might shock you, but I'm a registered Independent, too, not a Republican. I don't trust Fox completely, but at least they give SOME credit for good deeds, whereas the other news outlets usually magnify the negative and seldom, if ever, report progress (and I sincerely doubt that it's because there is none).
Incidentally, Jeb has been wonderful leading us during all of our hurricanes in Florida. One of the reasons I voted for him the first time was that the other guy had no clue how to manage natural disasters (as Lt. Gov., McKay never once got on TV to say anything to comfort people about the fires in '98 that were destroying our state - and this was during his campaign year). Jeb's hella better than W. in that regard, but I also voted for W. because I didn't like the other guy, either.
Sorry to tangent like that. Newsarama is decidedly biased in JQ's/Marvel's favor; I do agree with that. And comicboards have gotten really annoying since the whole SPOILERS rules have been in place. Sometimes I ask why I even bother going there.

And things aren't one sided here in the Hype Spider-Man forums?
Posters say they like the new costume and there are the usual group of posters hovering like vultures. "You're not a REAL Spider-Man fan if you like the new suit!".
"OMG, how can ANYONE like what's going on with Spider-Man!"
"Pft, Marvel zombies will like anything they put out".
But, of course when you actually explain yourself it goes on deaf ears because that's not what they want to hear.
It goes both ways. Maybe on the newsarama board, which I don't even go to or knew existed until I came here, things are more pro Marvel. But, here it's a little more fair, in the MARVEL COMICS FORUM. But here in the Spider-Man comics forum...holy crap, it's like being a democrat surrounded by a bunch of really conservative republicans!

Okay, you do have a point, I'll grant you that. And the Marvel Comics forum is a far bigger tent than just Spider-Man. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I find that people who are loyal to or follow a particular character tend to be far more passionate that those who follow a bunch of characters. It definately depends on where you go when it comes to polling. Speaking of which, I find the result of the poll on Marvel Comics official website to be quite interesting.
How do you feel about Spider-Man unmasking?
I hate it! Spider-Man will never survive this! 58%
I love it! Bring on the new stories! 43%

Well, can you blame them? You can't get the interviews and insider reports on things if you're saying what the companies are putting out are crap.
But I remember reading Wizard back during the Clone Saga and they constantly ripped the Spidey books a new butthole.
And if you've read the reviews of some of the trades that they've done. There are a few which are really fair assessments.
