Kinberg on WOLVERINE

On the main page( www.superherohype.com) is an interview about Wolverine from Simon Kinberg. He mentions that they "saved specific characters from X3 for this spin-off". He also says Sabretooth is a go in the spin-off. i think Gambit is in as well.

Yeah its gotta be Omega Red...if they pull a fast one on us and reveal Gambit I will be so friggin' pissed...it'll be the same as introducing Stick in the Elektra movie...So they're considering bringing Sabertooth back? Or is that official? I'd rather see something with Deadpool, Maverick or Alpha Flight...or Origins...Omega Red would be okay...but, think about it...movie Wolverine hasn't fought too many out of this world looking characters in X1-3...and then you throw in Omega Red...hulking, indestructable...tentacles?...they might lose the audience...Deadpool, Sabertooth...or Origins flashbacks intercut throughout the movie would be cool.

About Sabretooth, see, I don't know.

I mean, there's the obvious part; Sabretooth vs. Wolverine is just, "Well no ****ING DUH *******!"

But, we've already seen Sabretooth in X-Men, a movie that most likely takes place AFTER Wolverine, and there was no real connection between the 2. It wouldn't make much sense to have Sabretooth heavily involved in Wolverine's past, only for their later encounter in X-Men to show no real connection between them at all.

I really don't like the concept of this Wolverine movie at all. I wish it'd just be scrapped. If they gotta make more damned sequels, put all this creative time and effort into making a kick ass X-Men 4.

I don't think that ANY sequels / prequels should happen, but X-Men 4 could do so much more than Wolverine. Sentinels, Gambit, Emma Frost, Mr. Sinister... SO ****ING MUCH!

We know Wolverine's past. We explored it in X2. We don't need any more, damnit.

There was a subtle hint at a past between them with the whole thing that Sabretooth had with Wolverine's dogtags. And even if it wasn't the same as the comics, there was a hint of rivalry between them.

BUT on the same token, I just think it's best for these movies to move forward, if they are gonna go at all.

I mean, seriously. I don't think there should be any more movies, but if there are, I wanna see NEW stuff. Not stuff we've already seen. More of Wolverine's past, and Sabretooth, and ****. **** that.

If we're gonna see more X-Men movies, I want just that... X-MEN movies.

I wanna see some Sentinels. I wanna see Gambit. I wanna see more Beast. More Angel. More Storm. Some Jubilee. Some Kitty Pryde even. Not MORE WOLVERINE AND HIS RIVALS!

And I'm not of the camp that thinks Wolverine was overdone in these movies. They felt very much like X-Men films to me, not Wolverine and his X-Men Pals.

I just want to see the films move forward if they are that intent on making more.

Well, as much as I would like to see an X-men 4 more than a Wolverine spin-off...we already know that the Wolverine movie is coming first...so we're here to speculate what could make it good and how it could tie into X-men movies we've seen. How far back into his past will they go? Will the public understand or even want to see the Origins storyline? Hugh Jackman said it was one of the few and favorites of Wolverine lore that he read...and they're very interested in his input as he is serving as producer or exec producer on the film...I'm sure he'll want to tinker with the idea...Lets just hope they don't screw it up...Lets hope that it fits in to the X-men movies and yet, still stands on its own as a good movie by itself...one thing they need is Sabertooth in one form or another...having a Wolverine movie without him, would be like not having a Venom Vs. Spiderman ever face off on screen...Joker not being in a Batman movie...the most recognizeable or equally matched villain vs. hero scenario...you just don't do it. If you do a FF movie you have to have Doom...If you do a Daredevil movie you have to hav Kingpin...it doesn't matter if you like the way they are casted or how they are portrayed or tweaked by hollywood screenwriters and filmmakers...they have to be in there in some way or another.

Gambit is NOT a Wolverine character.

I think it's the whole situation that Gambit was supposed to be in X-Men: The Last Stand but was "saved" for a future appearance.

And the wording that they are using a character that was supposed to be in X-Men: The Last Stand who was instead "saved" for Wolverine.

I don't believe it's Gambit. My comment was only regarding the general discussion on it being Gambit. But I think that's too dumb for them to do.

Unfortunatley?? Considering the characterization in X3, I think its a blessing Omega Red wasn't in it. He would have gotten the Psylocke (in name only) treatment

I'm as big a Gambit fan as they come and even I doubt it is Gambit. Gambit has no big part in Logan's history, but like most of us know and have already mentioned, Omega Red does. Red's the one who deserves the role, not Gambit.

No one has mentioned Jubilee as being possible for this movie... It seemed that for awhile her character was going to have at least a decent part in X3, but then it was totally reduced to nothing more than a wallpaper cameo with no dialogue or powers. Her appearances in the movies could easily be retconned to introduce her in 'Wolverine,' which would be great in my opinion.
