This has been a weird ass start to the season...
The Heatians get drubbed by 42 on Ring Night.
Dallas hasn't won yet.
Mamba is playing something that looks scarily similar to team ball.
Utah and New Orleans/Oklahoma City are undefeated.
Atlanta just beat Cleveland on the road.
Technicals fouls are way outta control.
What the hell is going on out there?!

It won't get that bad. The Howard loss will hurt for the 2 weeks or whatever it is, but they're still Dallas. They won't have the kind of regular season they had last year, but they'll be playing when the real stuff kicks up.

Make fun of me and that quote all you want, but I still stand by beliefs and opinion that the 2006 Finals was fixed. Of course it's my opinion and a new season has started right now, so we'll see what happens.
I do believe some of it is fixed to some extent, the new technical foul rule in a way is proving it and the feud with Mark Cuban/David Stern appears to almost be too WWEish.
But again those are my opinions.

Dallas gets their first win of the season and wins on the road against Phoenix.
Dirk finished with 35
Terry finished with 30
Stackhouse finished with 23
Overall it was a great and exciting game with clutch shots galore from both teams. Terry and Stackhouse really came through in the fourth quarter.

I still believe the NBA Finals were rigged.
As do I, my friend. If it's proven to me that it wasn't rigged then I'll admit that I was wrong and was simply overreacting. However, watching how the officials called the game last night proves the league needs a lot of work.
I am glad Dallas won their first game and all, but damn, seeing that game made me feel like the officials were trying to give the game to Phoenix.
But in the end, Phoenix will never win a championship or go to the finals because they don't play defense. What helped Dallas is they started to buckle down on the defensive end causing turnovers, offensive fouls, and so forth.
When did Nash become Vlade Divac? I saw more flopping from him last night than usual.
I remember Cuban calling out Stern and a bunch of his colleagues after one of the Finals games, and he shouted out "F*** you! F*** you! YOUR LEAGUE IS RIGGED!"
Dwayne Wade should have gotten Best Actor.
The Pistons won't win another title for a while. The league is tired of their success.

You all are an insult to the game of basketball. These players worked there ass off every night, & just because whiny B**ches like you all dont get the win you want. You decide to claim it is rigged.
It is a f**king insult to those that have made it to the pros! Just because you all don't have half the skill that the guy at the end of the bench on any given team has. Doesn't mean you should insult there proffession. Do everyone a favor that has respect for the game, & its athletes. Keep your opinion to your self!

I remember Cuban calling out Stern and a bunch of his colleagues after one of the Finals games, and he shouted out "F*** you! F*** you! YOUR LEAGUE IS RIGGED!"
Cuban never said a word to Stern after that game. Here's his own words from his blog.
Two other things. Apparently the Miami Herald is reporting i screamed at the NBA comissioner after the game the other night. Didnt happen. Didnt say a word to the man. Not a single word. And that was absolutely by intention. Here's what he had to say about the ever-laughable the 'League is rigged' talk.
Im used to getting emails from fans claiming the NBA is this or that. The NBA wants a team to win based on market size. The NBA doesnt want me to win because the league doesnt like me. So and so has money on the game. The NBA makes more money when the series goes 7 games.
Its all nonsense. Any prudent, rational person can easily see it. The games are not rigged. Thats a complete insult to the players on the court and the incredible amount of effort they put into preparing for and playing the games. All 82 regular season and post season games. The NBA couldnt rig the games if it wanted to. And it doesnt want to. Its that simple http://www.blogmaverick.com/2006/06/20/the-nba-is-rigged-please/
If there was anybody who would rant and rave about a conspiracy, it'd be Cuban. You couldn't fine him enough to keep his mouth shut. Stern couldn't pull that kind of thing off if his Columbia law degree depended on it. Anything to the contrary is sheer absurdity.
Dwayne Wade should have gotten Best Actor.
The Pistons won't win another title for a while. The league is tired of their success.
Yes, I'm sure that it's great acting skills and League mandates that will cost the Pistons titles. The implosion on defense, outright laziness and inner-bickering that occured in the playoffs and the loss of Wallace is just window dressing.:whatever:
As do I, my friend. If it's proven to me that it wasn't rigged then I'll admit that I was wrong and was simply overreacting. However, watching how the officials called the game last night proves the league needs a lot of work.
Odin knows this won't lead anywhere productive, but how could something like that possibly be disproven?

If it isn't rigged then maybe they need to get rid of the officials who show bias to the more popular teams? In the end I believe it was fixed and nothing you say, do, or think will change my perception of what happened in 2006.
This isn't the first time the league has been accused of rigging games and I'm quite sure it won't be the last time.

Big players always get preferential treatment. So much as breathe on Michael Jordan and you get whistled for a foul, but he's allowed to shove Bryon Russell to the ground to hit a game-winning shot over him.
The Mavericks aren't the only victims of the bias some officials show. And it's not just limited to basketball, either. Veteran pitchers like Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez get larger strike zones than their younger counterparts.
There's a huge difference, however, between stars getting preferential treatment and games being rigged.

I agree with that Jordon aspect. He did get a lot of calls and it's quite obvious he shoved Bryon. I'm glad you mentioned that too.
Ed Bradley(RIP) did an interview with Jordan on 60 Minutes and he made mention of that push. He said if you can get away with it and do it just right, you can do whatever you want and he showed a demostration of how you can push or smack someones arm away if you have the ball.

Relax, it's not like they're going to lose by 42.
Apparently, it's going to take Detroit a while longer to adjust to this new style of play. From the articles I've read, it seems like they're still funneling all traffic into the middle on defense. That ain't gonna get it anymore. Offense is supposed to be more up-tempo, when they're used to playing in a more deliberate style. It's all still new but I think they'll manage to work it out.

What happened was Armstrong drug Nocioni to the floor. He then jumped up, & had this like weird staring contest with the ref. I am pretty, then as Armstrong was walking away he said something that definately had the F-word in it. It was the stare down that was weird though. I don't know. The only teams that are really looking good in the East is New Jersey, Miami(sometimes), and Cleveland. The problem with the Bulls is their offense isn't all that great. They have great defense, speed, and athetlic ability to get the job done.
But come playoff time you need all of the above and the Bulls simply don't have enough firepower to hang with Miami, New Jersey, or Miami.

He's old enough and should be secure enough to get MJ's balls out of his mouth and stop sucking the man's personality.
Even changing his number smells like Michael. :o

Are the Bulls gonna win the Central Division this season, let alone the Eastern conference or NBA title...
Cleveland looks really good in our division... :csad:
Keep the faith brother. keep the faith.
I think they have enough fire power. They just need to slow down there offense. There are times that I watch them run down the floor, & just chuck the ball up. There shot selection is poor. They just need to get a handle on that.
I also keep comfort in the fact that alot of the teams that did well last year are doing poorly right now. Ala Dallas:cwink: .

Magic was the ultimate team ball player, thought "pass first" and just looked to take over in the clutch. Unless some type of pod/body snatcher scenario takes place, that'll never be Mamba. Granted, Magic had better teammates than the former #8 does right now, I think we've seen enough of the Viper to not peg him as a primarily selfless player.

True Magic had guys like Kareem and Cooper. Magic and Kareem were able to work with each other and win games. Same can't be said about Kobe and Shaq. Man when Shaq left it hurt. It was like when my parents got divorced.

Point taken. Utah has a good frontcourt and great coach, but Deron Williams is playing like a friggin' madman. There's even been a Mehmet Okur sighting. What's that about? I thought they'd have a decent season, but I would have laughed at anyone who forecasted a start like this. They've beaten quality teams too. Some analysts have speculated the move was done to increase scoring. I don't know how many articles I've read with someone commenting that the new ball just sticks on the rim or doesn't come off the glass as hard. Shots that would have seem to have been bricks last year are dropping.

Of course it's not going to be easy.

That one hurt tonight. Good statlines from the starters (including Dorrell Wright and Jason Kapono ). Nothing off the bench (thanx 'Toine.) 33 pts/15 asst from Flash and a waiver offed would-be buzzer beater from Wright. 1-4 without the Big Man. :down
On the half full side, getting quality minutes from Wright and Kapono will help towards the push when Mr. O'Neal, Posey and Williams get back into uniform.

What the hell?
Bulls coach Scott Skiles pulled Wallace only 2:02 after tip-off on Saturday because the center broke a team rule prohibiting the wearing of headbands.
A number of assistant coaches spoke with the player on the bench, but he waited until only 2:41 remained in the first quarter before removing the headband. Skiles put him back in the game, but Wallace put the headband back on before the beginning of the second half and was not allowed to start. He relented again midway through the quarter and was inserted in the game.

bad loss to the jazzx but we put up a fight if we can only rebound next time.. at least we bounced back with the nets:woot:
2006-07 Power Rankings: Week 4
RANK (LAST WK) TEAM REC. COMMENT
1 (1) Jazz 12-2 Jazz have been too good, with or without Kirilenko, to drop them after a road loss on a back-to-back. They've been 5-0 good with Kirilenko sitting out, in fact.
2 (5) Mavericks 9-4 Can't ignore the fact that only three victims in Mavs' 9-0 surge have winning records. But don't ignore the fact that Howard missed all but two of those games.
3 (2) Spurs 11-3 Losing yet another nail-biter with Dallas, Spurs can live with. Losing Ginobili on a hard fall, when he wasn't at his best to begin with, was much more disconcerting.
4 (15) Suns 7-6 Suns aren't just starting to heat up. They're 6-1 since a 1-5 start and they're starting to get Amare, Diaw and Matrix on the court. Together. As a frontcourt trio.
5 (7) Rockets 9-4 Van Gundy speaks out against the ''Rocket hate'' he keeps hearing. But I'm guessing he'll gradually be able to tune it out if Yao and T-Mac can win nine of every 13.
6 (12) Pistons 9-5 Pistons certainly haven't beaten any powerhouses during this 6-0 run, but you don't knock an East team on a roll. Not when there's only two of them.
7 (8) Lakers 9-4 Who needs a smooth training camp? Lakers continue to make the most of this home-heavy early schedule and, as a bonus, sent Clippers into a spiral.
8 (9) Magic 10-4 Magic's only L in the past eight games came mere hours after last Monday's kudos here. We're guessing Orlando fans would thus prefer muted praise this week.
9 (14) Nuggets 8-4 It's a tough concession for K-Mart fans (like me), but Nuggets are 8-2 without him, riding the 'Melo/Camby/JR/Miller quartet and with Evans filling in nicely.
10 (4) Cavaliers 9-5 As much as we love the orange unis -- another reason to bring up World B. -- you can't camouflage the fact that Cavs have mostly looked shaky since winning at SA.
11 (6) Hornets 8-6 Playing without D-West and Peja are two big problems. Losing three in a row after winning four in a row, which has already happened twice, might be a bigger problem.
12 (10) Warriors 8-6 Baron's hurt worse than they thought. But this helps with the pain: Warriors stun Utah without him and Biedrins averages 13.5 ppg, 12.4 rpg, 2.88 bpg over eight games.
13 (3) Clippers 6-6 Respect around town and how they stack up with their co-tenants can't be priorities now. Not when they're 0-5 away from Staples, sinking Clips to last in the Pacific.
14 (13) Kings 7-5 Injuries, nothing new for this franchise, have made it tough to fully assess Kings, but so has this: Only two of Sacto's seven W's so far are against teams at .500 or better.
15 (26) Timberwolves 6-6 Wolves have mustered some grit, answering a 1-5 skid with a three-game win streak, but this ain't the Mike James we know and love: 0 points in the last 2 games?
16 (17) Pacers 7-7 Pacers continue to look like a roller-coaster team even without Artest, but it's tough to punish them too severely here when 11 teams in the East are making out worse.
17 (16) Heat 5-8 Shaq's first two seasons are the only full, non-lockout seasons in his career in which his team failed to win 50 games. Anyone else getting the feeling that this'll be No. 3?
18 (20) Bulls 4-9 With a soft stretch coming, Bulls can rally like they did the last two seasons, from 12-19 and 0-9. Tougher to call: Will the first Skiles-Big Ben spat fade or mushroom?
19 (18) Trail Blazers 6-9 Nets want no part of these upstarts. Problem is, young Blazers have no games left against New Jersey and still aren't sure when Roy will resume his ROY quest.
20 (24) SuperSonics 6-9 Sonics won more games on one East trip than they've won at home all season. Ray Allen's 3-point percentage, meanwhile, has dipped again to .322. Confused? Us, too.
21 (11) Nets 5-8 Don't think this was the sort of consistency Nets were going for, but a 5-8 start falls right in line with last season's 9-12 start, 2-11 in '04-05 and 7-11 in '03-04.
22 (23) 76ers 5-8 If that 3-0 start proves to be a mirage, it won't be Iverson's fault. He's topped 30 points six times this season . . . with 10-plus assists in four of those games.
23 (22) Hawks 5-6 After 4-1 start, Hawks lost four straight by five points or fewer, three of them at home. Not the best lead-in for a stretch that calls for eight of the next 11 on the road.
24 (18) Wizards 4-9 At 0-7, Wiz share the league's worst road record with young Raps and injury-ravaged Grizz. But you expect that from Raps and Grizz. Not an alleged East contender.
25 (29) Raptors 4-9 So how does a front line of Bosh, Bargnani and Garbajosa sound? Just a hunch, but I'd say Mitchell is wise to keep moving in that direction if he wants to hang around.
26 (30) Grizzlies 3-10 You've heard lots about Pau's injury, West's and Fratello's futures and the sale of the team. The hot subject now when someone brings up Grizz? Gasol trade chatter.
27 (21) Celtics 5-8 Anyone else get the feeling young Celts lost focus after that three-game win streak? That's probably because last season, Boston never won more than two in a row.
28 (25) Bobcats 3-10 Bobcats awoke Monday as one of only three teams with 10 losses. The problem, obviously, is that they haven't played Cavs and Spurs often enough.
29 (27) Bucks 4-9 Rhetorical question alert: If Bucks can keep taking double-digit leads without Villanueva and Simmons, shouldn't they be able to hold one or two without them?
30 (27) Knicks 5-10 Dare we say whatever popularity Marbury restored with those $15 sneaks has been wiped out by the eight games he's registered already with less than 10 points.
I dont know whats happen with my clips right now:( I think we need a coaching change or personal change:o

Well-placed league insiders say the Grizzlies could do a deal that would send Mike Miller to the Los Angeles Clippers for Corey Maggette. Figuring that Miller's game hit a ceiling in Memphis coupled with poor playoff performances, the Griz would love to add Maggette's dogged offensive ability.
The Clippers need a deft perimeter shooter, which Maggette is not.

Two former Magic players, I should mention. :o
Miller is very streaky and is basically a scorer only; he doesn't play defense or rebound exceptionally well. He's a poor man's Kyle Korver, who's a poor man's Reggie Miller.
Maggette would be a good fit in Memphis. Lord knows they could use his defense. I'm wondering if they'll ever deal Pau Gasol.

Thing is, I used to love Dwyane Wade. Then during Year 3, he started to get an insane amount of calls. There is a statistic that I just during a past game, where it said Dwyane Wade has gotten more foul calls than Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, and countless others since he started playing. Even players and opposing coaches are commenting on it too. He's like a hand made superstar, that may not even be a superstar. Could he do half this stuff of the physical defenses that were present up until 2002 / 2003 -ish? I doubt it.

Pacers SUCK. :cmad: :down
1 Dallas (4) 11-4 Mavs longest winning streak in franchise history is 14 games. Contests this week vs. Kings, Wizards and Nets could equal that mark.
2 Utah (1) 13-3 Carlos Boozer has tallied a double-double in 13 of the team's 16 contests this year. Two of the three when he didn't resulted in Ls, including Saturday's loss to Golden State.
3 San Antonio (2) 11-5 With Ginobili on ice, the Spurs have dropped three of the last four, including the last two road games where the team had previously been undefeated.
4 Orlando (8) 12-4 The Magic won only 10 road games last season. They've been on the positive side of the ledger in five games in November this year.
5 Detroit (11) 9-5 Detroit's 9-1 this season in back-to-back sets. The Pistons play two straight vs. the Heat and Knicks before getting a day off between matches with Charlotte and Portland.
TEAM (LAST WK) REC. BREAKDOWN
6 Phoenix (17) 8-6 Throw out that 1-5 start and the Suns would be right where you'd expect them to be, 7-1.
7 Denver (14) 8-5 I'm fine with the Nuggets giving up a league-high 106.7 ppg, especially when they're putting up figures like 113, 115 or the 140 they notched against the Warriors.
8 Golden State (9) 9-7 A late three-pointer spoiled Don Nelson's chance at career win No. 1,200, a mark reached only by Lenny Wilkens. Next chance is vs. Milwaukee Saturday night.
9 Houston (10) 10-5 Perhaps one reason the Rockets launched 38 triples in a loss to the Suns: Steve Novak, who went 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, got his first start.
10 L.A. Lakers (6) 9-5 The Lakers get a second crack at the Jazz tonight in one of 12 home games in a 14-game span; Saturday's tilt with the Clippers is technically a roadie.
11 Cleveland (3) 9-6 Before the loss to the Wiz, the Cavs were giving up a mere 90.8 ppg, which would rank second in the league today. That mark is up to 94.0 ppg after four losses in five games.
12 NO/Okla City (5) 8-7 Who's hurting more David West, Peja or the rest of the Hornets team, which has had losing streaks of three and four (current) already this season?
13 Sacramento (13) 8-5 The Kings get Brad Miller back just in time for a double-dip in Texas, stopping at Dallas and San Antonio Friday and Saturday nights.
14 Indiana (15) 9-7 Even if it requires a triple at the buzzer, a 2-1 to start a trip out west is much better than opening 1-2, especially with stops at Seattle, Denver and the Lakers on tap.
15 L.A. Clippers (7) 7-7 The losing stopped, for a night at least. A back-to-back vs. the Lakers and Magic is on the schedule this weekend, when the team may still be without Chris Kaman.
16 New Jersey (12) 6-9 Those six losses -- four on the road -- were tough to stomach. The next six at home don't get much easier, with games vs. Sixers, Mavs and Suns this week.
17 Chicago (21) 5-9 Bulls have a chance to right the ship with eight of the next nine at home. Speaking of home, everybody leave your headbands there, please.
18 Washington (18) 5-9 The Butler did it, as Caron hit all 15 from the stripe to help the Wiz beat the Hawks at home. The team's still 0-7 on the road, with a game at Chicago Saturday awaiting.
19 Miami (24) 6-8 Shaq's saying he'll be ready to help his team make another title run, but, by the time he's back (at the weight Riley wishes?), how much ground will the team have to make up?
20 Portland (16) 6-10 That 23.5 ppg and 10.1 rpg averages over the last 10 are nice for Zach, but the Blazers have dropped eight of those contests, including four at home.
21 Atlanta (20) 6-7 Five of the Hawks' last six losses came by five points or fewer, so they weren't about to let another tight game slip away even after squandering a 24-point lead to the Bobcats.
22 Seattle (19) 6-10 Maybe it's a relief to look ahead to Saturday's road game at Utah; The Sonics have dropped six-of-eight at KeyArena.
23 Minnesota (25) 6-8 Over the past three games, Randy Foye's scored 34 of his 43 points in the fourth quarter.
24 Philadelphia (23) 5-9 With games at the Nets and Bulls this week, now's probably a bad time to remind Sixers fans the team has dropped five straight on the road.
25 Milwaukee (27) 5-9 At least the Bucks didn't waste the 45 by Redd vs. the Lakers as they did when he went for 57 in a loss to the Jazz earlier this year.
26 New York (26) 6-11 Raise your hand if you really believed the Knicks would be only one game back of the Atlantic Division lead right now … Or that they'd have six Ws by this point …
27 Toronto (29) 5-10 In the six straight games Bargnani's logged 20-plus minutes, he's posted 12.3 ppg and 3.7 rpg; In the first nine of the year, he tallied 4.1 ppg and 1.8 rpg in 9.2 minutes.
28 Boston (22) 5-9 That three-game win streak -- and Atlantic Division lead -- is a thing of the past after dropping three of the last four.
29 Charlotte (28) 4-11 You have to admire the spunk of this team, which had enough to hold off the Nets two nights ago then fought back from 24 down to nearly upend the Hawks.
30 Memphis (30) 4-11 After opening the season 1-8, think the Grizzlies will be okay with the win-one, lose-one pattern that's developed over the last three back-to-backs?

I loved watching the Heat lose to Detroit. It also proves what happens to the Heat when Wade isn't getting calls in his favor, although the officials definitely tried to give him weak lame calls.
I also like to add how hilarious it is when he acts as though Sasquatch threw him to the ground.
On the plus side I'm happy that Dallas is on a hot winning streak. :yay:

As a Pistons fan, it was nice to see that win. I figured the refs would let him shoot 10 free throws at the end to let them win :o
Wade should have won an Oscar for his performance during the NBA Finals.
GO PISTONS!!!:cmad:
