I'm more interested if the other two villains will reprise their roles as well... I hope they do... but doubt Mane will be back... I'd say 50/50 on Hu... that is if her character is in it... I do hope they make Jackman look younger though... he did age quite a bit... some makeup and maybe some CGI touching up will hopefully get him back to an X1 look...

Jackman. Wolverine. no one else could have done it so well. i just can't even imagine it. and the fact that he's co-producing means that his heart is in this project and that means there will be that much more passion behind it.

How about...Tom Cruise. He's short, he's dark, and he went berserker on Oprah's couch... PERFECT.
Nah - let's stick with Jackman. If he's filmed correctly, they can reduce his size like they did in X1 (the other films too...but X1 did it best). Jackman's all legs anyway, so in upper body shots, he still looks like he could be a smaller guy. Just keep his legs outta the frame! LOL...have him walk on his knees, or something...
But Jackman - for such a light-hearted and jolly bloke - has really pulled off the berserker thing with Wolvie...especially in that kitchen scene in X2. He's got the moves down, he's got the attitude down...now let's just see a director who can handle the character well, and we're set.

Well we all know Jackman's pretty much garunteed the role but for a more faithful adaption of the character, I would've gone with Prison Break's Rober Knepper.

Voice, height, acting chops, NOT a prettyboy and pretty damn creepy if I may say so. Like Wolvie's supposed to be.

Oh well. Beggers can't be choosers. Jackman does a fantastic job as Wolverine but there are better suited people for the job. Fox however wants a leading man, which Wolverine was never meant to be.

I think Dominc Purcell (Prison Break) would be a perfect replacement for Hugh in Wolverine. Don't get me wrong I love Hugh, he played Wolverine to a tee, but as good as his portrayal of Wolverine was, I still think something was missing...That dark, brooding, menacing figure which is Wolverine was not there, or let's just say not as present as it should have been (The best example of the "true" Wolverine was in X-Men 1...when we are introduced to him in the bar scene, that was amazing! Hugh played that with such instensity, it made my hairs stand on end)...Besides, I believe that that the studio should have stayed true to comic book character as far as the look of Wolverine in the movies. Short, stocky, and built like a brick house! Dominic can achieve that look (check him out in Blade III), he has the face of a heavy weight boxer and the body to match. He possesses a smoldering sex appeal and best of all he's a fellow Aussie...Here's a bit of trivia, Hugh and Dom were classmates at drama school in Australia. I had always thought that, too! Wolverine always looked like Clint and I thought Marvel had always done this on purpose. Draw a character that looks similar to a beloved actor. I've heard "Oh, Cyclops looks like this guy" and "Storm looks like this chick". I mean you all have seen that haven't you? If you understand what I mean....

Find me a better cast character who would do the movie and I'll agree! Otherwise you guys just don't realize how hard it is to find the right actor with the right look. Jackman's great, whether he plays a queer on broadway or not, he looks it and acts it. If you want perfection than find another studio because they don't always find perfect. What I am saying is that its not that easy, if he's a star he's a star why hate him for what he's done. That's like hating Tobey MacGuire for The Horse Whisperer or any other remotely homosexual character he was tagged to be cast as. So what else do you hate, Christian Bale as Batman? Not everything is perfect, bud. So think about it, Jackman is becomming a major Holywood star, why hate on him now. If any you should hate what Singer and/or Ratner portrayed Wolverine as.

I think the reason we didn't get the dark brooding and relentless intesity of Wolverine in the movies was not the fault of Hugh Jackman, but rather of the directors. They toned him down a good bit. Tamed him, if you will. They wanted to focus on the happier side of the character. I think in a Woverine movie, we'd get the berzerker barrage!! And few more, "Bub!"s

I agree, this whole thread is a non-factor, Jackman is a star and will be for years to come. We're just lucky we got him before he got to big. Anyway, this Dominic whoever guy isn't a factor considering he may be attached as playing Banner in the new Hulk and he was already in a Marvel movie. Dominic Purcell as Banner was debunked. Now we don't know if he's even involved with the movie.
And yeah, was going to bring up the point that he was already Dracula.
I was just thinking today and I really realized how much they took away from Logan's character with the height thing alone...I mean I liked that he was this borderline dwarf that sounded like one of the chipmunks if they chain-smoked for 30 years...The great thing about him is you wouldn't expect so much from such a small package...I mean he's Wolverine. Wolverine are small, berzerk creatures...They might as well have called him Bear or something. They could have at least used camera tricks to make him shorter...Oh well. If Puck shows up, let's just hope they don't make him this really angry regular sized dude.
Thank god for Jackman's performance...This is why I hope an X-men series is made someday like that Mutant X show or how the Buffy tv show had almost nothing to do with the movie.. Start from scratch. Really develop characters like Cyclops, who should REALLY be the leading man with Wolverine in more of a "Spike" role...I'd love for Whedon to just take Astonishing to the small screen actually.

What? Cyclops a lead, he's too predictable and consistantly corny. Wolverine is the reason this franchise has survived as of late. Hadn't he been created the XMen universe probably wouldn't have been so successful. Wolverine is that dorky little kids dream of having this angry beat up the bully attitude. Also Logan has this nobody tells me whats what attitude that everybody wishes they had. I'm not dogging you, but Cyclops is hated by everyone who doesn't suck up to their teacher, or dad. I do think they made the Xmen movies too much about Wolvy.
But I do wish they would havemade Jackman look shorter, way shorter. Good point.
I just read about that Purcell being left off the role list now. Thanks though.
I wish we knew who was the Hulk though. I liked Bana but hated the last 10-15 minutes of the movie.

I think Wolverine would be better off as a side character. Just a guy everyone loves but isn't the lead like Spike on Angel or Hiro on Heroes, etc. Cyclops is the one that should be your basic goody two-shoes leader. Wolverine should look out of place. I don't like it when he's treated as the leader. He's the "bad-boy" of the group and when he was in another X-book, they brought in Gambit to replace him in that role. He's not the leader. He's the lovable scamp. Cyclops is supposed to be the basic hero that suprises you with badass moments while Wolverine is the guy you're just waiting on to say something cool or funny...He should basicly be the cult favorite.

I'm not dogging you, but Cyclops is hated by everyone who doesn't suck up to their teacher, or dad. I do think they made the Xmen movies too much about Wolvy. I don't think Cyclops is necessarily too much of a nerd to be the lead. He may the quiet, socially awkward type, but so was Peter Parker in the Spider-Man movies and that worked. Cyclops's geekness may be hated by jocks and bullies, but there are plenty of movie-fans and comic-book fans who can relate to and root for the slightly dorky everyman.
So the protagonist could have been Cyclops as the ordinary down-to-Earth guy in an extraordinary job. Then Wolverine could have been a meaner, tougher and more colourful character. Instead their Wolverine was traditional slightly rough-edged, reluctant hero, just like 90 per cent of action heroes in the movies. Only thing that set this one above the others was Hugh Jackman's great talent and charisma.

Not a nerd but a suck up. Dude he is nothing like Peter Parker. Parker is almost anti-social, frail, nervous acting, failure fearing, a visual dork. extremely awkward. Cyclop's was mainstream, overly polite, my life's great, "Oh, I agree, Professor", all-american looking and easy going. I don't see Cyclops and say dork, but Wolverine does. I see and say "Oh Jesus, Logan's being a hardass and Cyclops was just being polite and introducing himself. Hey but that's Logan." Cyclops is like Leonardo from the Ninja Turtle, or vice versa.
Truth is I have a problem with alot of the way Singer did the Xmens and same with Ratner but they both did a decent job. Singer was more descriptive and complete story. But Ratner was more action with better fight scenes. If we could have only mixed the two of them...

Good point, I agree. I just think Wolvy is more versatile and more movie made than Cyclops. And for a 21 year old kid like me who dealt with a lot of hard stuff growing up and going against the grain. I felt more like this little enraged kid who didn't know who he was. Well I've grown up and grew out of my problems but I still love the character.
I agree with your point completely. One of my friends related to Cyclops :cyclops: and that was cool cause he was the good looking(not that I'm not now but I was an ugly duckling), normal kid, who followed rules and had a great girl and all that. But I related to Logan more, that's all.:wolverine God, now that I put those smilies there I feel I'm losing some testosterone or something. JK.

Parker is almost anti-social, frail, nervous acting, failure fearing, a visual dork. extremely awkward. All traditional characteristics of Scott Summers when he's being himself. His professional side, Cyclops, is competent, determined and cool under pressure, but in normal life and social situations Scott is clearly a dork. Which is why I as a geek have always been able related to him more than most of the other X-Men. Wolverine is the man I'd like to be, but Cyclops is the man I could see myself being if I had his abilities and responsibilities.
I'm dissappointed that we didn't get to see Scott's nerdy, vulnerable side in the movies. But I guess it's understandable since he only had a small role and was there really only in his professional "Cyclops" capacity and as Wolverine's foil.
I don't see Cyclops and say dorkWell, that's your interpretation and you're entitled to have it. I disagree, but I'm glad your lack of appreciation for Cyke isn't based on hatred of geeks as often seems to be the case with a lot of Cyclops-bashers.

He's the lovable scamp. Cyclops is supposed to be the basic hero that suprises you with badass moments while Wolverine is the guy you're just waiting on to say something cool or funny...He should basicly be the cult favorite.
well said, but FOX is notorious for not giving a **** about storytelling or details. Ignore Fight Club...

I'm getting into this discussion a bit late....I never thought of Cyclops as a dork either. He's merely (as been stated for decades) a boy scout. Following orders and having restraint doesn't equal geek. He hooked up with Jean Grey when they were teens. And in those beginning days he beat out the other original XMEN for her affection. None of those guys were geeks either.

It's obvious that Hugh will remain.
He's a wonderful actor and can do near close to anything. He can play any part. So yeah? He does high kicks on the stage, and that's his image for some people. Don't base acting skills on image. All that matters is that he plays him right, and he has for 3 frickin movies in a row.
Those people who do not want him are either Wolverine haters, or have seen Hugh on stage singing and dancing. Those people are focusing on image, not acting skills.
