There was some confusion after photos from the New York Licensing Show popped up online that showed a promo poster with the title "Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer." Was this the official title of the FANTASTIC FOUR 2 or just something used to promote the fact that Silver Surfer would, indeed, be appearing in the film? Well I'm here to lay to rest any debate. Fox has officially titled the film FANTASTIC FOUR AND THE SILVER SURFER. Not good enough for ya? How about an exclusive look at the official plot synopsis to give you an idea of what you have to look forward to:

Marvel’s first family of superheroes, The Fantastic Four, meets their greatest challenge yet in FANTASTIC FOUR AND THE SILVER SURFER as the enigmatic, intergalactic herald, The Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of the Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost.

Personally I feel that adding Silver Surfer to FANTASTIC FOUR 2 is one of the smartest comic book movie moves since Venom in SPIDER-MAN 3. A stand-alone Surfer movie probably would've sucked but add him into the world of The Fantastic Four and I think we've got something. Hopefully this will start a new trend of comic crossover movies. Instead of revamping a Hulk origin, why not HULK VS. ALIEN VS. PREDATOR? OK, maybe that's a bad idea...

Unfortunately, what worked beautifully in a Lee/Kirby comic would be laughed out of theaters. (And that story is one of my very favorite FF tales.) I always wondered...Could you imagine Victor Von Doom surfing the regular way? No, of course not. He would find it supremely undignified.
I guess when one possesses the power cosmic, it must come with a built-in ability to hang ten. :D

What saddens me the most is that F4-2 is not in the top 10 previews of any website on earth.

Anything that is not in the top 10 on comingsoon.net is bound to FLOP or people simply aren't interested in it.
