Now that Superman and Batman have both been pumped new life, who thinks they should have a batman vs. superman movie, starring brandon routh and christian bale? lets here your thoughts......

I dont think it is gonna happen for one reason. I saw the MTV awards and it looks like Routh is a lot taller than Bale

we just give bale some stilts in his boots...lol
Okay, someone get the Levitz (DC president) interview from the Supermanhomepage.com.
He basically says a teamup movie with Routh and Bale is a realistic possibility for the future...
But for now, they need to concentrate on nailing their individual franchaises.
Also, it wont be a VS movie either. Brandon basically said he woud be up for it but Batman and Supes shouldnt be fighting each other (which is true)....
It will be World's Finest instead.

Isn't Superman suppose to be taller than Batman?
And how is that a good point? I'm not knocking it, just explain more.
My point as to why it wouldn't work, budget. Of course, one can argue that a cast budget has been thrown out if the cast was willing to see the art of the movie rathe than the size of their pay check. But, I still stand by the budget. Imagine asking all the big guns of both movie to reprise their roles. That's a lot of $$$.
I think whether the fans like this concept or not, a teamup film with Bale and Routh will happen in the future.
There seems to be alot of support for it and with the president of DC comics behind it, thats a good sign.

It should be interesting since the "seed for rivalry" has been "planted". Remember Bale's comment at the MTV Movie Awards?

Brandon Routh, Christian Bale, Micheal Caine, Kate Bosworth, (whoever is playing Joker) and Kevin Spacey.
Thats really not so bad. The BB cast alone had way more big guns.
Olsen and Perry could also return but they arent that big of names either.

Haha. He was right though, but he'll feel a bit defeated when SR does better financially overall than BB.
They would make a great team anyways. Routh has the heart, Bale has the badassness......just like the real Superman and Batman.

Yeah, I see your point. But, maybe I should have said, imagine trying to make a "Hush" or "Long Halloween" or "Dark Victory". I think it would be too much.
I'm not against it. Just making a point along with the thread.
Furthermore, I made my point before the DC Pres statement was posted. That is fantastic that he feels that way!!!

They should bring Jack Nicholson back as the Joker.
I think they will eventually meet because Supes did some heroic work in "Gotham City" in SR. I think they pronounced "Gotham" twice in the film because people sitting around me were a buzz about hearing "Gotham city". They were whispering did you hear that, they said "Gotham".
Why else would that be in SR?

I doubt the current film versions of Superman and Batman would fit together very well.
I doubt the current film versions of Superman and Batman would fit together very well.
I disagree.
Theyre both very realistic adaptions of the characters in a realworld environment...moreso than any before.
Theres also the fact that Batman Began while Superman was gone....while the world was in darkness, a perfect time for the birth of Batman.
Now that Batman has begun and Superman has returned, theres hope for the world and it could lead to more heroes deciding to step up and appear.
Its a perfect setup.

No. More Batman and more Superman, but no Batman and/vs Superman.
I read a plot somewhere that had Luthor & the Joker killing Katie Holmes & somehow they make it look like Superman did it & the Bat goes nuts on him.
While they're fighting the Joker & Luthor devise some plan to take over the world with the help of Brainiac & the Black Mask. Eventually Batman & Superman find out who's responsible for her death & Superman not only has to save the world but he's got to save Batman from himself because he wants to "kill" Joker & Luthor.

they are 2 very different franchises that i dont think would work if missed. the tones of the characters are different also batman is realistic while superman is a little more fantastical. they both work so dont f*#k with it.

Just watch Aliens Vs. Predator and you'll never want Hollywood to ever gets a grubby hands on another "versus flick" ever again. It works great in theory but it's just asking for a gimmick treatment. Think Jon Peters.
No it would not work, superman can basically do everything hes "superman". Batman would simply slows supes down in the movie world. Superman needing the help of a human in a Bat suit is utterly ridicolous to even attempt to try in the big screen. Christain bale and Nolan are trying not to go down the same root as the 90s bat flicks, and haveing a improbable movie like Batman Vs. Superman is terrible. I repeat what could Batman possible due to even try and help, or even hurt superman that would not be dumb on screen? Superman and Batman should never ever meet, two different worlds. Critics would eat the concept and movie alive, and superhero movies would once again be looked on as jokes[if they aren't already].

A worlds finest flick would interesting following the sequels of bb and sr However, the actors' height issues shouldn't be a problem, in the comics bats is 6'2 and sups is 6'3, Bale is at least 5'11 and Routh is 6'4. I'm once in the costume with the cowl and pointy ears, Bale can make up the difference

Nah, there's pics in the Batman Begins section that proves he's ATLEAST 6'1.
Plus, if you look at the pics from MTV......6'2 and 6'4 makes sense between the difference it appeared between Bale and Routh.

LOL yeah, i've been thinking on what's a good come back on Bale's "Sorry Superman but Batman is the badass" comment.
how about:
Routh: You said 'Batman is the badass', but can he take a bullet in the eye?
Bale:.......
Routh: 'Nuff said.

but yeah i'd love a World's Finest movie . the MTV pictures show that Bale and Routh's got a good onscreen buddy chemistry together.

Well, it was more of an "OUT THERE" sort of SCI-FI, elseworld feel. Really, really out there stuff.
By far, though, the Supergirl arc with Michael Turner was the best I thought.

How can you even DEBATE on whether or not a Superman/Batman movie is plausible. There is a comic being published right now illustrating how well the two work together.
I for one am all for a WORLD'S FINEST Superman/Batman film. We've never seen those 2 characters together on screen in live-action before. It could be fantastic. Check out that animated movie and imagine if they did that with real actors...it would blow your mind. I just hope that for the WF movie they give them their COMIC costumes and pick a director who can mesh the two together well enough.

Yeah....but there's also like 6 different ongoing comics showing how good each character can be ALONE.
I just think it can de-track from they're series......instead of focusing on each one ina film, having to split they're time in one film would be a pain. I'll ***** (oh, I would....trust me...) that Batman needs more screentime......Superman fanboys will complain Superman needs more screentime. It would be a minefield as far as the fans are concerned.
And, then there's WB. WB won't do the film......they'll make LESS money.

While I am not an extremely die-hard Superman fan like some people in the Superman section I still can say that I do not think that would be the case.
Every single Superman movie you see Lex Luthor...I would really like to see Parasite or especially Metallo in a Superman film; tired of seeing Luthor.
Besides, that guy you were replying to mentioned the Batman villain being Ra's Al Ghul (not like that is his greatest foe)...so Lex would not have to be in it as well because not like it would be The Joker like it was in that animated film. But then again if they did do this film they should not do Ra's either because ya...he would not work with anyone really...

My guess would be that they'd want to bring headliners to challenge Bats and Superman as well. It would take the heat off of the sure to be let-down fight between them, I mean....nobody would win...., so marketing it as Joker and Lex, they're greatest foes, joining forces.....rather than Ra's (a still relative newbie to audiences, but still badass) teaming up with Metallo, or Parasite (total unknowns to the general public). Hype would be the key, and I think having Joker and Lex would be something WB would want to make happen.

This just wouldn't make much sense from a business standpoint. Why make one film when you can make two?
I also think the general public would find the whole idea a bit silly. After all, most people only know these characters from the films, and probably haven't read any "Superman vs. Batman" stories.
I remember Conan O'Brien joking about it a few years back. ("Superman has all these superpowers...Batman is just a guy that works out. This is the worst idea for a movie ever!")
ChrisBaleBatman
06-30-2006, 01:43 AM
lmao.
Yeah, I think you might alienate certain audiences too. Batman is a very dark, gritty, and let's admit it.....pretty violent character. Batman Begins proved that. Superman is very kid friendly, not that he cannot be serious, but.....you won't catch any stupid parents complaining that Superman needs to be more "kiddy" (****ing bastards *****ed about BEGINS.....), so therefore....audiences that prefer the dark and violent....might be turned off by the prospect of a light and kiddy Batman......while audiences who prefer the light and kid friendly Superman....but be turned off by the prospect of a dark and violent Superman.
See what I mean? It's complicated.

it's a bad idea. why would Superman and Batman want to fight each other?? i just don't see it. unless the plot was somehow devised by a supervillian to hypnotize them into fighting each other. and then you could have Evil Superman(like in Superman 3) VS Evil Batman. that could actually be interesting to see. that might be the only way it could work. but the plot would be too predictalbe becuz we'd know that they somehow snap out of it, and join forces to defeat the supervillain. lol

Batman beats the hell out of bad guys, interrogates them for information....he's a dark hero, and many wonder if he should even be considered a HERO if not a Vigilante.
