Okay Ignore my other thread I created in this section because I thought the title should go like this instead of the other title my other thread has and I wanted to do a poll as well and also there is a thread like this in the Batman Begins section so it wont be very objective there where here I think there would be more people voting for Superman. So here is this thread.Which Movie is your favorite of the two? For me Superman the movie :supes: is STILL the greatest comicbook movie of all time ever made but Batman Begins comes in at a close second. Whats yours?

I have seen the Superman films, Batman, Xmen, Spider-man I would say that The original Superman for its time and today is probably the best; with that said I have never been blown away by a movie like I was in Spider-man 2 the original Superman and Spider-man 2 are probably the 2 best.
Superman Returns had some problems it was enjoyable but I left wanting more and wanting it to be better.

Seeing as how both movies were made almost 30 years apart from each other, this is not a fair vs thread. Movies were made differently back then as compared to how they're made now. Overall though, the one I enjoy watching the most out of the two is Superman: The Movie. :supes:

I think its fair. The special effects of the superman movies from back then STILL measure up favorably to the special effects and most movies today and were a benchmark for how to make special effects in the future for movies. They set the standard.

The fact that Superman holds its own against the current crop of superhero movies speaks volumes. If you look at the type of comicbook tv/films that were being made when Superman was released, they were nearly all targeted at children.
Batman Begins is a shiny new toy. But in 30 years time, it's unlikely to be THE defining superhero film of its era the way STM is.

Superman the movie will always be my alltime favorite. And Margot Kidder will always be my favorite Lois Lane. By the way, I'm new here.

Batman Begins is a shiny new toy. But in 30 years time, it's unlikely to be THE defining superhero film of its era the way STM is. I dont know about that.Batman Begins was a movie that unlike the other Batman movies, you did not have to be a die hard Batman fan to enjoy them. The casual moviegoer could enjoy Batman Begins.Batman 89 is defenetely not considered a masterpiece by critics or moviegoers and has not withstood the test of time like superman has.I think Batman Begins however will stand the test of time like Superman has though 30 years from now because of what I just mentioned that you dont have to be a die hard Batman fan to enjoy it and like superman, stayed loyal to the source material.

Superman by a landslide.
I fell asleep during Bataman Begins, was there some sort of reference to the Joker at the end?

Batman Begins. Even with Superman being the classic that it is, even when I first watched it as a child I remember never feeling completely content. Batman Begins left me feeling like I could die happy.

Well that's really true of any successful comicbook film. Spiderman didn't make its money without attracting people who had never read an issue.
And Batman 89 is primarily dismissed by kids who have grown up with the serious approach of current superhero films. But the truth is, almost none of the recent efforts have tapped into the public's consciousness and pop culture the way B89 did. If you ask someone to quote a Batman film, they're usually going to pull out something from that one.
For similar reasons, Spiderman will probably end up being the film to define this current era. It wasn't the first, but it was the one that opened the floodgates and set the standard (especially in terms of box office). It also has the kind of iconic imagery (like the upside down kiss) that people will still remember decades from now.

Personally i love Superman the movie the best. But Batman Begins was great to. I never really cared for Burtons Batman. Begins is far turer to the character. The same way that STM was ture to Superman at the time it was made. I would take Begins over Burtons Batman anyday. Superman the movie is my favorite. But Begins comes right behind it.

Theyre apples and oranges. Both staking out different ends of the spectrum of making comic adaptations, although i found the first half of superman to be more serious than the entire superman 2 film heh.
It seems to me DC began to make batman the anti-superman a bit for variety. Supermans story is this epic opera of good and evil galactic threats. Batmans slant is making an epic story out of everyday environments and things.

Voted for Superman for the very simple reason I have been a Superman fan since I was 6 yrs old--and Ive never been a big Batman fan. I do have some Batman Superman team up comics..but he just never captured my imagination the way Superman did. So I naturally would like a brilliantly crafted, beautifully portrayed Superman movie better.

I'm stuck. I think "Superman" is a likeable, although dated, superhero movie (although the F/X is good, it still looked like Reeve was superimposed against a green screen background). Considering the time period it was made in and how Superman emerged in the comics, it was faithful and entertaining. But it's pretty campy in places - Luthor just being able to immobilize Superman with a big Kryptonite necklace, Ned Beatty's broad comic performance, etc.. didn't seem in tune with the comics. It's definitely blessed by the performances of Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder, though.
"Batman Begins" is buoyed by a good performance by Christian Bale. He's able to make a good Batman and a good Bruce Wayne, and the film took itself seriously, yet there was humor in the right spots to break up tension. And the characters were cast perfectly and more importantly, the movie can stand up to repeat viewings.
I will say, like the person before me, that "Superman: The Movie" is a classic and set the standard for comic-book movies, but I find myself reaching for BB and watching it more than I do "Superman". There's something about BB that appeals to me more than "Superman".

Superman The Movie has a magical, pristine charm that makes it unforgettable and a real classic. Batman Begins on the other hand is a definitive adaptation of Batman, way ahead of anything made previously, even the overrated Batman 89.
But, I am a Superman fan to the core and naturally have a greater liking for STM, I have seen it countless times but the magic is still alive despite the shortcomings.

As much as I love Batman Begins, I voted for Superman The Movie, as it's a classic and it is still the benchmark that other superhero movies will be compared to.
Plus, it's f**king awesome. :super:

Even though the movies were made 30 years apart, I still vote for Superman The Movie. Not only for the plot, but I am not a fan of CG. (One reason Spiderman leaves me unmoved.)Give me the actor in every scene, doing the special effects.Plus Chris' portrayal of a superhero surpasses any that came before or since.MHOEL

Get this: The guy who played the Old Gotham Water Board Technician in BB ALSO played one of the Mission Control Techs in Superman II. His name is Shane Rimmer.
I guess that answers the question of whether BB is in the "Donner-verse" or not....Kidding.

He was also in Superman III, he's a policeman who stops the coach to Smallville, when the chemical plant's on fire.

Well said. I really like Batman Begins, but I don't think it will be seen as a classic in 30 years time, and I don't think it changed the way Superhero movies are seen, like Superman: The Movie did. :super:
