The trailer begins with quick shots of a rocket preparing to launch. Your basic pre-flight stuff. You can hear flight control and the countdown. You then see the rocket blasting off.

IN 2003,
THE BEAGLE 2 MARS ROVER
WAS LAUNCHED

You see the probe entering the red atmosphere of Mars.

WE WERE TOLD IT CRASHED

Many shots of the rover on the surface of Mars, all shown from a variety on cameras on-board the probe itself.

ITS FINAL TRANSMISSION WAS
CLASSIFIED TOP SECRET

More shots from the rover’s point of view.

Suddenly, you hear heavy footsteps coming toward the rover, and a shadow falls over the rover. A humanoid robot shape steps into the rover’s view, but it stands in front of the sun, silhouetting the robot.


After a beat, the robot smashes the rover with its fist.

IT WAS THE ONLY WARNING

WE WOULD EVER GET

Now we see the Earth almost exactly as it appears in the teaser poster (but without the eye). The orchestral theme begins to swell in an ominous way.

The TRANSFORMERS logo then appears as it looks in the teaser poster.


The logo itself then transforms very complicated-like into

7.4.7


Which then transforms into the Autobot symbol.


Overall, a very foreboding tone to the teaser. It fits in well with the tagline of “Their War. Our World.”

It was great for the few seconds you could see it. It's gone now. The user removed it. It was an ok Teaser since it's a year away but Spiderman 3 definitely blows many teasers in the history of teasers away. I'll be ready for the Transformer "Trailer" when it comes out.

because any location on Earth doesn't give the idea of an intergalactic war. plus, if you see a robot on Earth you could get the wrong impression that humans made the robots. if you see a robot on Mars there's no way you can get that impression.

Absolutely wrong. A volcano erupting (as has been on the news recently!!!).... and an obviously ancient robot or ship excavated or exposed out completely evokes more sense of wonder than what was shown in that "teaser."

Even the leaked storyboard of the Transformer frozen in ice in Antarctica- though a cliched origin as well (The Thing, X-Files) is better than what was shown in that god-aweful teaser.

For the people complaining, Try to relax, breath and not to have an aneurysm, it's only a bloody teaser. Most movie TEASERS never even have footage to begin with and mearly a few flashy animations that they show the movies Title over (Case in point, 2002's 'Time Machine' did this, nothing but fast blur effects and some text. Fairly common).
Would I have liked to see tons of footage and characters, well yah, but relax all in due time.

I'm not really blown away by this. But the MOVIE won't be out for over a year.

This teaser is obviously to get people who don't know anything about the movie yet excited.

Some little boy out there is going to be sitting in the theater,see the teaser,shout "Did you see that robot!?" and then be shushed by his mother. His interest will be stirred and one year later he'll get his parents to take him to see it.

That is what the teaser was for.

it was definitely Megatron, if you freeze the frame when it showed half of a body in total darkness you can see a tube like shape on the left screen/ character's right arm. The body shape is too small to be a tank like transformer which we have all led to believe Megatron is a tank instead of a handle 35mm gun like in the G1 cartoon. The trailer suck by the way without revealing too much. They should goo all out on the teaser like with Spider-Man 3.

Most of you are forgetting something. This teaser did give us a glimspe of what the FX will be like in film just of the transforming of the logo and the music. The music alone does tells how the mood of the film they are going for.

cybertron is outside of the milkyway,humans havent yet developed the technology to travel that far.finding decepiticons on mars isnt a surprise really since they are programmed to conquer,so they are probably seeking out new worlds to conquer.

The teaser didn't reveal much which is normal. The music was great. I'm glad they used the same tune. Really sets the mood for the movie which feels like a serious sci-fi film. The teaser sucked to you so there, forget about the film. Very little thought was put into the mythology of the transformers-some jerk at hasbro had to think of a quick explanation why these unstoppable robots turn into ambulances and boom boxes. I loved the cartoon as a kid, but its because i was a kid, now when i watch it i see it for what it is, bad animation that promotes a toy that does one thing, transforms. If you think bay movies are corny, you may be right, but i gurantee the transformers will look great. Will the plot be good? Hopefully, but its not shakespeare, how could some one complicate good and bad robots stranded on earth or just fighting over somthing on earth? im personally hyped for the film.

The problem isn't that it was a teaser. The problem was that it was a bad teaser. Both Superman and POTC2 last year had perfect teasers. They gave nothing away from the story, but gave you feel for what you were going to see on the big screen. Same with the first Spidey teaser (Which was something amazing in concept).

This reminded me of the first POTC trailer, with the exception being that this just looked silly. The robots movements were terrible, the build up to nothing is just wrong, and the only shot we actually get of anything is the stuff nightmares are made of.

This reminded me of the first POTC trailer, with the exception being that this just looked silly. The robots movements were terrible, the build up to nothing is just wrong, and the only shot we actually get of anything is the stuff nightmares are made of.

Everyone who will see it in the theater who doesn't know about the movie (and despite what it may feel like on this site, that's probably a majority of the world) would be thinking the same thing. They'll get, what I thought was, a nicely suspensful buildup with a conspiracy theory to boot. And even if their thinking they've seen that a thousand times in movies, the shadow appears and they'll be 'WTF?' Then the text transforms on the screen and they'll be saying 'Holy ****!!! Transformers???" And they'll flash back to the glory days of their cartoon-watching childhood and be very hyped for anything and everything released dealing with the movie.

The problem isn't that it was a teaser. The problem was that it was a bad teaser. Both Superman and POTC2 last year had perfect teasers. They gave nothing away from the story, but gave you feel for what you were going to see on the big screen. Same with the first Spidey teaser (Which was something amazing in concept).

Steven could be hinting at the fact that the reason mars has no natural resources could be the fact that the decepticons landed on mars anddrained all the resources for energon. Because regardless of the reason, the Martian sky turns blue in color. Obviously it's because of the way the sunlight is refracting off elements in the atmosphere. The same way light refraction off our atmosphere turns the Earth sky blue, red, orange, and a whole host of colors depending on location, time of day, and season.

Unless you've actually been to Mars, you have no idea what the sky looks like from that point of view. Rovers only show poor quality pictures.

My hope for the film haven't dropped one bit, but I've got to say that teaser SUCKED. Yes I know teasers aren't supposed to show much, but they ARE supposed to excite you. This didn't make me the slightest bit more excited than I was before seeing it. As someone else posted, if it didn't say Transformers in huge text, you'd have no clue. I wouldn't have a problem with them putting such a vague trailer out if they didn't ****ing hype is so much. I mean a countdown and everything, only to show us mars footage that has nothing at all to do with the film.

No this doesn't show us the tone of the film. What, the film is going to be tight shots of NASA equipment? These guys are depending too much on us saying "Transformers? OH MY ****ING GOD I MUST SEE THAT!" So while this trailer may serve its purpose for those who didn't know they were making a Transformers film (barely) it's only going to dissapoint anyone who's heard the news.

My point is, we got a ton of hype and a crap teaser. Compare it with the pre-9/11 teaser for Spider-Man. One is entertaining and exciting, one isn't. Guess which is which.

I just think with the Spider-Man 3 teaser showing so much (it was great) it made the Transformers teaser look like crap.

It wouldn't matter if they kept this teaser or just had a cheesey 3D Autobots logo against a black screen: It showed nothing.

but to be fair, the production of Spidey 3 has been chugging away since Janurary (with pre Production since 2005), so I'll give Bay a pass.

Oh, so it's an announcement teaser? Well that brings my hopes up some what. I just hope that the actual teaser blows my mind.

This concept is a dream come true for me and I've always wanted to see Transformers done on screen, however, one thing that concerns me is them bringing in humanity and not focusing on the complex aspect that is Transformers.

I'd love to see a Transformers movie done in the vein of Transformers: The Movie. Where the robots provide the emotion, courage, and aren't pushed to the side for humans.

I'll wait to see the final product though. :up:

Again...point missed. So let me clarify it for you.

You mentioned that Mars doesn't have a blue sky like what's seen in the trailer. My point was that, even though Mars has a red atmosphere, it can have a blue sky under certain conditions, which you so helpfully showed that it does. Just like Earth's blue atmosphere turns red under certain conditions.
