Not sure if there's already one of these so delete this if there is, but he's on my top 3 fav marvel villans and I wanted to hear some other opinions on him. The Goblin legacy is one of the more unique spider-man stories.:gg: :bomb:

Well, seeing that Peter has taken his mask off. And in Civil War Frontline # 2 Norman was screaming, "YOU BROKE THE RULES!" I think that Goblin's stock is about to go up and we're gonna be seeing another brutal battle between the two arch nemesis'

what can norman do to spidey what do you think his plan is?
Grim Goblin

I think he's going for the kill this time. Since the cat is out of the bag, he can't afford to take his time with Peter anymore. He needs to sweep in before someone else does.

I can't wait to see what Norman has planned in the upcoming issues. I agree with Grim that he will probably try to go for the kill this time around, before anyone else gets the chance, or maybe kill everyone around him. I think it's going to be very exciting.

is there anywhere that shows a timeline of major events for the green goblin.
For example:
ASM #121: Kills Gwen Stacy
Kraven
07-03-2006, 11:48 AM
ASM #14- first appearance
ASM #39- discovers Spider-Man's identity, reveals identity to Spider-Man
ASM #40- loses memory of the Goblin
ASM #96-98- retains memory and witnesses Harry's drug incident, before losing it again.
ASM #121- kills Gwen Stacy
ASM#122- impaled by own glider, dies
PP:SM #75- revealed to be alive, mastermind behind the clone saga
I'll update this later with more information.

Man, I hope so. I'm tired of Norman threatening and threatneing to f*** with Peter so bad he wont know what hit him.....and then nothing happens. Time for Gobby to step up and really do some damage, a la Gwen Stacy, baby May, Ben Reilly.

Nope. Norman always liked torturing Peter like a kid that tortures a bug. He can get away with it. But now Norman has been exposed as the Goblin, been put in jail and has lost his advantage over Peter: the fact that Peter's ID was secret to (almost) everyone but the Green Goblin. Now the bug has the power over the kid, and no one wants to feel that they have lost that much power, especially not a psychopath like Norman Osborn.

I always thought if the goblin truley was evil he would spray the goblin formula at spidey just like the movie version has knock out gas. Making an evil spidey

I think he wants Spider-Man to become evil with no formula. Just to feel like he was in control.

They did a story like that in 2001, where Osborn tried to get Peter to take the Goblin formula willingly. Forcing him to take the formula would be meaningless, he has to want to be like Osborn.

It just says "Death of the Goblin". That could also mean Harry seeing as he's Hobgoblin now.

I have to say though, as good as the mind games have become over the years between Norman and Peter, I sometimes miss the old days where it would just be Norman flying straight at Spidey with the simple intention to kill him right there. I always felt it was the main thing that made him different from the Hobgoblin (besides the colour scheme) who would always take great care to plan ahead.
I know everyone on these boards seems to love USM.
But I think Ultimate Green Goblin sucks. A total abomination of the original character.
(Although compared to Ultimate Carnage I guess he got off lightly. Atleast Ultimate Gobby is still Norman Osborn) :(

I love the Green Goblin, but Norman should be dead. One of the greatest stories of all time and Marvel screwed it up by trying to fix their mess of a clone saga. The Hobgoblin should be the main baddie these days.

If Ultimate Green Goblin were exactly like the regular universe Goblin, what is the point of even having an Ultimate Universe than?
I know there are a lot of posters around the boards who dislike the Ultimate Universe very much. But if you're going to have a separate universe, why make the characters EXACTLY like the regular universe counterparts? Then Marvel is REALLY taking your money away from you by packaging the same exact universe and storylines, characters, and plot into a modern retelling.

i agree. i think people only say they hate USM because they think it makes them sound smart.
Grim Goblin

Personally, what bugs me about Ultimate GG is the sheer size of the guy. I don't mind the oz transformation part and the fireball throwing since it does make some needed diversity.
But when you have a character that turns green and wears purple pants, the last thing you need is to make him grow huge or else you're sure to be called on the obvious Hulk rip-off.
And the whole flaming back is a bit much too. They should keep it at the level of fireball shooting or maybe as an attack of last resort.
webhead731
07-11-2006, 10:48 PM
I thought he looked most Goblin-like before he put more Oz in his body making him Hulk-like. He was skinny, had a purple hood and cape that was all torn up and threw fireballs.
He should go back to that. The Hulk-Goblin is somewhat cool.

He should wear the purple cloak thing more often, instead of just the pants. Then it seems like a bit less of a rip off.

Pants with the hood and cape. I don't want a naked Goblin lol.
Grim Goblin
07-11-2006, 11:06 PM
I just wished they would stick to a single "look" for him instead of changing it every time. But I guess they just couldn't agree on a "final" design that they really liked. Too bad since it's most likely Norman who's gonna get axed in the upcoming USM arc so there won't be a point to fix the problem.

Although he was less hulk-like before the overdose, he was still bigger than an average person.
